Got it…Spoiler alert: no one does “surprisingly” well on a cognitive test. And tell me this, why was he required to take a cognitive test for an annual check up? I haven’t read the full medical report, nor watched the full briefing. What I can say is this.I still haven’t seen anything which adequately explains “God Bless the United Shush”.Dr Ronny Jackson’s briefing said that Trump scored “the full 30 out of 30” points, which means that he used a short screening test like the Mini–Mental State Examination. (Thanks to Donna Dubert for the information that the actual test was the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, which takes about 5–10 minutes to complete).This test is designed to demonstrate early signs of dementia. Scoring full marks doesn’t qualify you as a “stable genius”: it is just about the lowest cognitive hurdle Trump could pass, which could reasonably be considered a “test”.Next, I think there was a bit of creative manipulation going on, slightly massaging Trump’s height or weight so that Trump cannot be officially categorised as “obese”.Finally, Jackson’s statement that Trump “could have lived to 200 years old” sounds extremely far-fetched. I wouldn’t make this pronouncement to the fittest patients I have ever met, which includes several international-level athletes whose cardiovascular parameters and cholesterol levels are far better than those of Donald Trump. And Jackson did recommend diet and exercise for Trump (and hinted at some pushback about the latter).The President is probably one of the most scrutinised people in the world in terms of his health. What Jackson should have said was something like this: “The President is seriously overweight with high cholesterol. He has a dreadful diet and he doesn’t take any exercise. Despite this, there are no major signs of disease yet, and I reckon with me keeping a close eye on him, he will probably survive his term in office.”
