Bullet trains are still not kicked off, no physical steps are seen and are still in planning stage.Urban Development:Smart cities are a work in progress and a long term project, hence commenting on the project is inappropriate. It is high time the infrastructure correction is done for major cities. Cities such as chennai and mumbai reeled under floods or suffering under draught. The first thing to be done is reconstructing a proper drainage system and effective water management. Drainage system in these regions are requiring a proper overhaul.Road transport:This is a place where the current government has scored only positives, construction of highways are at a record pace. Checkposts are removed for faster movement of goods with the implementation of GST. The government has given incentives to produce electric vehicles to curb pollution.Shipping:The current government is trying to tap the full potential of water transport as they are cheaper and less polluting. Sagarmala scheme once completed will be providing the necessary boost that is required for shipping industries.Law and Justice:It is a place which has to be given a mixed review, the government is aimed at converting the department into paperless by going completely digital but this is a work in progress and still a long way to go. The growing misunderstanding within the judiciary and in some cases between the judiciary and government is a cause of concern. Speeding up the cases are required, setting up of special courts to trial the representatives will be a good initiative and the work is in progress.Electronics and IT:The goveernment boost to digital economy and e-governance has paved way for Electronics and IT industry to flourish but still the sector is in nascent stage and not firing to it’s potential.Water resources, river development:The government has performed poorly in river development, interlinking of rivers are not yet given the importance it requires. One of the worst performing minister in NDA cabinet. Hence she was changed to drinking water and sanitation.Drinking water and sanitation:This department has scored in swachch bharat mission by building record number of toilets and created awareness about cleanliness. But still miles to go.Minority affairs:Banned triple talaq, ended the Haj subsidy and instead diverting the funds for minority development instead of minority appeasement is a welcome move.Rural development, agriculture and farmer welfare and panchayati raj:The rural development was given a push by introducing online portals for marketing rural goods at a competitive price, National agricultural market is established, e-NAM portal is created for maximizing revenues for the farmers by involving them in e-commerce to create more markets within their reach.Farmers are provided with neem coated Urea to prevent pilferage of urea to chemical industries. They are provided with loans, crop insurance at cheap premiums, promoting organic farming for self sufficiency of farmers. Fishermen issue in TN is still unresolved as it would hamper the ties with Sri Lanka. MGNREGS have been restructured from providing petty jobs it has become a scheme for rural asset creation. The concentration/ special care to the ailing department was not given till the budget 2018. Only the budget 2018 has given some importance to these sectors. There was a flip-flop approach towards this sector through the term. The government is pushing towards the corporate farming which will definitely give a boost to the ailing sector as best agriculture practices will be implemented to improve the profit margin.chemical and fertilisers:neem coated urea helps in arresting pilferage of fertilisers towards chemical industries, organic farming is gaining ground in India and probably the artificial fertilizer industry is going to face a sustained gradual setback in the forth coming years.Mines:Mines and minerals development and regulation act was amended in 2015 to prescribe the procedure of auction for maximizing the revenue from sale of mines, for implementation of sustainable development framework star rating of mines was prescribed. Higher star rating is provided for more sustainable mining practices.Mining surveillance system a satellite based monitoring system is developed to monitor and curb illegal mining activity through automatic remote sensing detection technology, launched in 2017 January has detected 48 unauthorized mines in the initial phase itself. Geological surveys are digitized and available to all. IT enabled services are developed for geological surveys. Bauxite productivity has reached new highs. Mining sector grew a total of 5% in first two years (after which I do not have data)Consumer affairs, food and public distributionWith linking of aadhar and Ration cards, haryana has made it easier for consumers to buy from any nearby ratio shops as card data is centralized and accessed from any ration shop. Upto december 2016, 2.33 crore fake ration cards were identified. government saves 15,000 crore by linking aadhaar and gas connections. JAM trinity has brought in fool proof mechanism to arrest leakages in public distribution system.MSME sectorIt is the favourite sector of BJP and gets a special care whenever they form the government. MUDRA yojana, Start Up India, Skill India, all these aimed at empowering the unorganised sectors.Drawbacks: These initiatives are not enough to generate employment as much as it was projected to happen.women and child development:Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme is meant for protection and education of girl children. One stop centre scheme to assist women affected by violence, both in private and public spaces.universal women helpline, inclusion of acid attack as disability in rights of person with disabilities act 2016, Guidelines for matrimonial websites, shelter home for widow at vrindavan in UP. Training for women panchayat heads, village convergence and facilitation services, national policy for women 2016, legislation on trafficking.Pregnant women and lactating mothers are entitled to food security for 300 days.Civil aviationThe sector has been deregulated in 2016 and rules for operating international flights are relaxed. Thereby opening up the sector for more participants and provide competition. Thereby monopoly/domination by select few airlines are removed which will give rise to cheaper transportation charges thereby benefiting customer.Food processingfood processing industry worth has crossed 65,000 crore in nov,2017. 42 food parks have been sanctioned to be established through out the country.labour and employmentIt is a sector which still requires concentration and the employment generation is not as good as Vajpayee’s period. If MSME sector performs well we can expect a huge increase in Job creation, MSME sectors are the largest employment creators. Deficiency in power supplies are a thing of past, more power plants are getting added to meet with the demand, and the situation is very much improved when compared to the period of 2007–2012 when power cuts were stringent even in the top metro cities.heavy industries and public enterprisesRural electrification corporation has doubled it’s profit within 4 years.PGCIL has increased the profit margin from 4209 crore to 7520 crores within 4 years.Power finance corporation saw an increase in profits before a great fall in profits in 2017. from 4419 crores in 2013 it scaled up to 6113 crores in 2016 before it fell to 2126 crores in 2017.SBI registered a constant growth in it’s profit margin and have not even once reduced the margin for past 5 years. From 1.35 lakh crore in 2013 it’s profit has increased to 2.1 lakh crore in 2017. Coal india increased its profit margin from 9700 crore to 14500 crore, NTPC profit margin has reduced from 10905 crore to 9832 crores, HPCL profit increased for 791 crore to 6200 crores, BPCL increased profit from 2600 crore to 8000 crore. ONGC profit reduced from 20000 crore to 17000 crore. These treatments have been consistently neglected in the past. Having a separate ministry has revived hope of reviving the traditional medications. Yoga has been given an international push and now we celebrate the international yoga day.This is the first time the government is concentrating on medical fields other than western medication.textilestextile industry has crossed 40 billion dollars in financial year 2015–2016. Khadi sales increased by 33% in 2016–2017. 100% FDI in textilesPetroleum and natural gasGiving a push to explore more oil and gas fields within the country to reduce the dependency on oil imports have given dividends for the government but the bad part is that the benefits are not pushed towards common people.information and broadcastingThe viewership of Doordarshan and All India Radio listeners have considerably increased due to the effort of Shri Narendra Modi to utilise these organisations to connect to the masses. These organisations were long neglected and the viewership and listeners fell drastically with the advent of private channel boom. It has been resurrected through programs such as Mann Ki Baat.
