Chemical weapons. I’m not gonna lie to you guys, but I wrote an entire essay on them, and why they are the worst invention in the history of mankind.Chemical agents were invented in 1915, for the sole purpose of ending human lives. They also don’t just end human lives, they ruin them. They maim and cripple those who are exposed to them, and can cause lung cancer and blindness. Agent Orange was a chemical weapon used in Vietnam during the 70’s. Vietnamese locals who have been exposed to Agent Orange have given birth to disabled and stillborn children. They some times have lung cancer themselves. Soldiers who came in contact with Agent Orange for more than 24 hours are still affected today.Chemical weapons are easy to obtain and are extremely deadly. They are cheap to manufacture and can be easily made by terrorist groups and radical organizations. Chemical weapons are extremely deadly and cost effective. For example, it takes only about the size of a head of a pin to kill an adult male with VX, a nerve agent. Experts estimate that 100 KGs of anthrax spores from a single aircraft can kill at least 420,000 people. An atomic bomb is estimated to kill 80,000 people at most. Chemical weapons are cheaper than nuclear weapons, and easier to build,use and hide.There are 4 main chemical weapon types. Blister, nerve, blood and choking agents. Blister agents cause skin pain and as the name suggests, blisters. They cause burns and boils all around the body, and irritate the eyes. I’m not going to upload any picture, but feel free to look them up yourself.Nerve agents interfere with the nerves and the stop the nerves from transmitting messages to the body. It can cause convulsions, and involuntary waste disposal. They can affect the lungs and cause the lungs to stop moving, leading to asphyxiation and suffocation. They can enter through the skin, as well as the respiratory system, meaning anyone without protection is vulnerable to the gas.Blood agents are fast acting and deadly. They are adsorbed through the respiratory system and can cause death in minutes.Choking agents are chemical weapons that cause the lungs to fill up with liquids and cause suffocation. You essentially drown in your own bodily fluids. Choking agents, if inhaled, can cause vomiting, severe headaches, chest pains, burns and respiratory failure.You might think nuclear weapons are the worst invention in the history of mankind, which may be true to some extent, but there are many downsides to chemical weapons. Nuclear weapons can end the world, which is exactly why people don’t use them. It might end the world and kill everything on Earth. Only a psycho would want to end the world, and still, there hasn’t been planetary destruction. Chemical weapons on the other hand, kill many people, but aren’t dangerous enough to wipe out humanity. So, there are less drawbacks to using them.Chemical weapons are effective and deadly. Assad used chemical weapons to kill his own people because it was effective. It takes less effort to kill with chemical weapons. The Nazis used Zyklon B in their gas chambers. They used gas because it was fast and easy.The only use for chemical weapons are to cause human suffering and to kill. They have no upsides, and are made to kill anyone at will. The scary part is, they do their job well.
