Will the Modi government roll back the farm bills after massive farmer protests?

Modi Government is unlikely to roll back the Farmers Bills/Acts due to the protests by some farmers in India. It is so because the Farmer’s Acts are by and large in the interest of most of the farmers in India, though it certainly harms a class of farmers as well.Let us look at the provisions of the three Acts that are opposed by a section of farmers. The Farmer's Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act 2020 empowers farmers and traders to avail barrier-free intra and inter-state trade of farm produce and proposes an electronic trading platform for direct and online trading. It allows farmers the freedom to trade anywhere outside State-notified APMC markets and also prohibits State governments or APMCs from levying fees, cess, or any other charges on farmers’ produce. The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act 2020 allows farmers to enter into a direct agreement with a buyer (sponsor) to sell the produce to them at predetermined prices before the sowing season. This will reduce the cost of marketing, eliminates intermediaries, and boosts farmer's income and provide price assurance to farmers before sowing the crop. The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020 removes commodities like cereals, pulses, oilseeds, onions, and potatoes from the list of essential commodities and does away with stock holding limits on such items. This move is expected to attract private sector/FDI investments into the farm sector due to reduced regulations and increase investment for farm infrastructures like cold storage and transportation. In my opinion, these three Acts are largly beneficial to the farmers as they provide additional options to them (without reducing the existing options) to sell their products and also go for professional contract farming (only if they want and find profitable). However, the entry of corporates may cause competition is agri trade and may harm farmers in future. While the new provisions may affect some big farmers adversely if the MSP provisions are withdrawn (which government is willing to assure not to withdraw), it may benefit many farmers of the nation. It is for this reason that the farmer’s protest has been limited only to a few states and failed to spread throughout India.Hence, in my opinion, the Central Government is unlikely to withdraw these Acts. However, Government may modify some of the provisions to remove the fears of the farmers and may guarantee them MSP provision in writing.

Why, after all the fuss about Brexit, have we ended up with a trade agreement that is effectively the same as the one we currently have with the EU? The entire fiasco still seems an inordinate waste of everyone's time.

People love to comment on things they really know nothing (or at least very, very little) about. I have been trying to educate myself on the EU, trade and other related Brexit matters since the referendums called 4 1/2 years ago. I know a little now, and I can assure your we have not ended up with “a trade agreement that is effectively the same as the one we currently have with the EU.”The only similarity is that (most) goods do not attract tariffs or quotas. The similarity ends there. Trade is so much more than that. Trading as a third country with the EU is very different than being a member and trading with fellow members. This chart reproduced in other answers and the general media is an effective summary of the changes and similarities we can expect. One confusing part of it is the use of an “o” to denote that specific conditions related to EU UK trade and cooperation agreement (TCA). This means that it is not the same as it was when we were a member. You will note that there are only 2 green ticks where things remain the same - visa free travel for a 90 day period and tariff and quota free trade in goods. Those are the only things that remain the same. What isn’t said is that we can only trade in goods with the EU if our product standards are the same. If either party diverges, things change. As our government’s stated aim is to diverge, things will change, This mens that the TCA is only that start of another continuing process of negotiation with the EU in a never-ending realignment of trade with our biggest and most important trading partner. In order to be sure that standards are the same of equivalent, huge amounts of new paperwork will have to be generated (much of it electronic - but paperwork just the same). Checks will need to be made at borders. Responsible partners in the EU will have to take more responsibility for their imports from the UK than they have to do now. These are non-tariff barriers to trade and are often more expensive than tariffs in themselves.I agree with the question that the “entire fiasco seems an inordinate waste of everybody’s time” but not because it means things haven’t changed, but because we are spending huge amounts of time, money and good will just trying to limit the huge damage Brexit is causing to our trade with our Europeans partners.

Why does the USA have good relations with Canada but not with Mexico although both countries are USA's neighbors?

True, the US doesn’t have good relations with Mexico; it has excellent relations with Mexico.North America at night, the continent of both countries.Mexico-US relations started improving after WW2, when Mexico played an important role in the Philippines Campaign against Japan and as a supplier for the US and the other allied powers. This opened Mexico up to the world more than ever, and as a result, it began to build good relations with the US and the Allied powers (and also the Axis powers, especially Germany and Japan, two close friends of Mexico)Mexico doesn’t really have bad relations with any country, as it has kept neutrality in most conflicts and never attacked anyone. I mean, try to name a country Mexico has bad relations with, I’ll wait. Relations with both countries have had some tensions, most notably during former president Trump’s presidency (you know, the wall and NAFTA stuff), although both countries have kept close and good relations.Mexican President López Obrador and former US President Donald Trump during a state visit of the former to the White House.Mexico is one of the main trading partners of the US, and the US is the largest trading partner of Mexico. The United States is home to the most Mexicans outside of Mexico, and Mexico is also home to the most Americans outside of the USA. Citizens of both countries like to visit each other (although it’s a lot harder for us Mexicans to visit the US), this isn’t at all a bad relationship. That being said, yes, there is some saltiness and scepticism of the USA in Mexico, but most of us agree that it’s a good thing to be partners with them rather than enemies. I hope that’s the case up north too. Both countries have a free trade agreement (with Canada included too), US companies manufacture many, many things in Mexico such as cars and electronics, and Mexico has in the United States more consulates than any other country has anywhere: 47 plus the embassy in DC. The US has considerably less diplomatic missions in Mexico, but they are still a lot: 21 plus the embassy in Mexico City.Wink to those who got the joke ;)Thanks for having good relations with my answer, Azul.

This software was so easy to use! I am not the most technical person by ANY means, yet using CocoDoc was so easy! I used it to create a feedback form for my team for a Team Development Day, and it was so clear in leading me through the process in making the most thorough and personalised form. I didn't need to sign up for anything or hand over my credit card information before using the system (which is near impossible to find these days) and was still able to use the form to gather the feedback.
