What are the strangest airplane accidents/incidents?

Meet this guy:Mathias Rust, who calls himself as a financial analyst and a yoga trainer.Back in 1987 he was nothing but an inexperienced pilot with just 50 hours of aviation experience.A summit between the Americans and the Russians had just ended in a stalemate, and this teenager was determined to do something about it.On 13th of May 1987, he rents a Reims Cessna F172P D-ECJB and flies to northern Europe in order to clock up towards his professional flying duration. He halts at the Shetland Islands followed by the Faroe Island for a day each. Then comes Reykjavik, Bergen and at last Helsinki.Helsinki, the place where the adventure had just begun to take its shape in the guy’s mind. He wasn’t sure whether to go with it or not.A plan to break into Soviet’s defense system and land in Moscow.Back then Soviet’s used to have one of the best aerial defense system in the world. A sign that you are trespassing and you are annihilated. Not even civilian airliners were spared. Finally after a lot of thought and analysis, he decided to take this audacious step. On the morning of 28th May, he informs the Helsinki ATC about his next destination i.e. Stockholm- or so it was. Half an hour into the air, he finally decides to give it a shot, and changes the direction of his Cessna towards Moscow.Back in Helsinki, the operators began to panic. Rust was heading in a wrong direction, and disappeared just before the operators could try contacting him. a search operation has been called and Finnish coastguards were busy searching for him. A pool of oil was found near the very place where he disappeared off the radar, and divers were called to search for the wreck. While all this was going on, Rust had just entered into the Soviet airspace, over Estonia. Within minutes he was picked up by the Soviet radars, and half an hour later Russian MiG fighter jets had approached him.Luckily there had been a plane crash at a nearby place a day before. Call it a human error or luck, with rescue operations going on as well as training for new pilots, he was mistaken for a friendly airplane.Rust had successfully made his way to Moscow. Now it was the time to land. Earlier he planned to land inside the Kremlin, but with a thought that he might be arrested by KGB and the Soviet administration denying any such event, he decided to land amongst the public. Red Square was chosen as his final destination. As luck would have it, trolleybus wires were removed the previous day from a four lane bridge, running besides the St. Basil’s cathedral, for maintenance purpose. This became Rust’s landing ground. He was greeted with shock and excitement by people. He was being applauded for being brave enough to pull off this mammoth task. While questioned, he said he was from ‘Germany’, after which he had a hard time explaining that he was from ‘the other side’. Recovering from the shock, the policemen arrested Rust.Aftermath: Rust was sentenced to four years in prison for hooliganism, breaching the Soviet border and disregarding the aviation laws. However he was release after fourteen months. As for Gorbachev, he took advantage of this incident by removing many of the strongest opponents of his policies. The minister of defense had been forced to retire, and the head of the air defense services had been sacked. Over the next few months more than 150 people lost their jobs. Such crackdown last happened 50 years ago during Stalin’s regime. This later helped Gorbachev to implement Perestroika and Glasnost. The Cessna can be viewed at the Deutsches Technikmuseum in Berlin. This small act of Rust destroyed Soviet military’s reputation, and escalated the dissolution of Soviet Union.
