::Lets say that Roman Empire somehow avoided collapse and survived to this day, what would it look like?Rules: It does not have to have kept the same style of governance. Its territory may have grown or shrunk. It may have changed religion. It may still have split into East and West. They don't have to be a dominant political entity or military force today.::Let's see. The Roman Republic staggers as in our timeline (OTL). Julius Caesar is attacked by the Optimate conspirators, but survives. He smashes the Optimates, and becomes Dictator Perpetuus. He extends full citizenship to the more Romanized provincial peoples, limits the terms of local governors and other public officials, and allows the provinces to tax themselves, eliminating the rapacious tax collectors. He also reforms the military so there will not be more ambitious generals using the Legions as their personal political springboards: he eliminates the military roles of the Magistrates, to be replaced by a professional corps of officials.The office of Dictator Perpetuus becomes, well, perpetual, and is institutionalized in a power-sharing arrangement with the Senate: he is elected by the Senate, and the latter is supported by the traditional system of Consuls, Praetors, Tribunes, etc.The Roman Republic (of sorts) survives, and the Crisis of the Third Century is mostly butterflied away. However, centrifugal forces and new peoples entering Europe would first nibble at the edges and later break in two the Republic: the hellenized parts of the Republic, Britain and Egypt are lost forever, despite the attempts of an alternate italian Belisarius to recover these lands. The Republic survives in its western, latinized core: Italy, Hispania, Dalmatia, Gaul and Africa. Also, in this timeline, Yeshua of Nazareth was just another failed Messiah, and the Roman Republic remains pagan.In 1312 AUC (558 CE), the Romans discover the New World, and initiates a slow process of colonization. Native peoples are ravaged by smallpox and flu, but there's not missionary zeal to convert the natives, and besides some cultural practices prohibited by the Romans, the natives keep most of their original cultures.In 2770 AUC (2016 CE), the Roman Republic covers its old territories in Europe, most of Western Africa, the Caribbean basin & Mesoamerica, the northern half of South America and the southern tip of Africa. The cold war with Shun China over the latter's conquest of Calida Fornax (OTL California) menace to turn hot any time soon.

The best states to invest in will have a proper sweet spot and not be as expensive as the coastal states (California, New York) or they won't be as downtrodden economically (West Virginia, New Hampshire)Texas, Florida, Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, Colorado, Virginia and Minnesota will make this list of sweet spot states to invest in.A lot of the cities and counties have above average cap rates also.Hope that helps.

A2A. Not every student is ready to work at the level a research university demands. There is a lot of competition and stress that has caused many students to fail. Not everyone is willing to work 60 hour per week to be a top student that requires discipline and effective study habits. Moreover, there is the financial aspect where a CC followed by a UC has the same degree as attending four years at a UC at a much reduced costs. Literally half the undergraduates at UC are transfer students who have chosen CC to UC approach.I believe in California, there are three options: CCs, CSUs, and UCs where the CCs feed into the CSUs and UCs. What separates these schools is pace and the amount of material covered. If you do not have the prerequisite material down pat, you most likely should not attend a UC.Finally I agree with Tom Stagliano that cost of attendance should determine your choice. If you are accepted to aUC as an out-of-state student, you may have better economic choices as in-state resident or with private universities. In my mind, it is very difficult to justify going to Berkeley when Harvard and Stanford are cheaper options.
