PDF Editor FAQ
If I took colleges classes during high school and got transfer credit for it in my undergraduate institution (a different school); if I apply to graduate schools, is it fine for me to only sent the transcript of my undergraduate institute?
At UCSD, the classes you took while in high school would appear as transfer credits on your UCSD transcript. They wouldn’t contribute to your GPA. If you want graduate schools to be aware of your grades for these earlier classes, you should also include transcripts from the universities where you took them.
Should I submit my UCSD transcript that I messed up when I apply for UC Berkeley transfer from a community college? I attended UCSD for only one quarter and attending community college to transfer to UC Berkeley.
You don’t have to submit an official transcript until you are admitted, but you have to report all grades on your application that UC indicates that they want you to report. If you are hypothetically admitted, they WILL find out about your UCSD record and they WILL rescind your offer of admission.
Can US college professors see the grades their students received in other classes?
I can access the UCSD record system to view the transcript of any UCSD student. I am sworn to only use this access for educational purposes. So yes, I can see the grades students receive in other classes at UCSD. (Not generally grades from transfer credits.)I do use this to monitor my Ph.D. advisees’ grades and see that they are not getting into trouble. I don’t do this for most students enrolled in my classes, unless there is a particular issue. For example, if a student is petitioning to waive a pre-requisite, I’ll review their transcript to see how they did in related courses. If a student asks for a letter of recommendation, I’ll review their transcript. I’ll also review transcripts for students applying to TA.
