PDF Editor FAQ

What film were you once very excited to see, but ultimately disappointed in the most? And why?

This is a great question. The number one position here is easy.PrometheusI love sci-fi. Alien and Aliens are some of my favourite movies. I love that universe's vision of the future. Ridley Scott is a very talented director. What's more, it didn't suffer from the standard form of the disease that has been ravaging Hollywood, unnecessary prequel-itis. Too often a prequel is made for a prequel's sake (read: the sake of the almighty Dollar!) But here, there plausibly could have been a story that needed to be told and was interesting. On top of that, the trailer really was excellent. Hell, the first hour of the film was excellent (right until they enter the mounds). But then it all fell to pieces and none of it made sense. Stupid plot decisions (the mapping specialist gets lost? Did he say someone else's lines by mistake. It is just moviemaking 101 to have a different character be the one that gets lost). There were two ways of making Prometheus not suck.1. Tell a detective story. Have us never meet a live engineer/space jockey, and have the main characters try to piece together what happened to them and how they disappeared. Easy to weave in all the standard Alien tropes of human beings screwing each other over for money here. Maybe near the very end of the movie, have a xenomorph released and kill all the crew. But even that's not necessary, the story could work without a xenomorph if the script was good.2. Tell a story wholly from the perspective of the engineers. This would be a lot harder, and might end up resembling Avatar too much. Likely too much CGI schlock. As it is, we got a crap horror/thriller that is loosely connected with the Alien universe, and were then hit over the head with a message about religious faith. I like movies about faith! But they have to be subtle. And faith was just obviously absent from the other Alien movies, so had no place here. The Hobbit FranchiseI love Tolkien. And, I love the Peter Jackson LOTR movies. Sure, there were a few decisions Jackson made that I disagreed with but we can put these to one side. We got two very good movies and one 5 star one (Fellowship). I was really looking forward to the Hobbit films - the pre-release teasers were excellent, and showed that Jackson and Co still really cared about the universe and the magic of moviemaking (costumes, practical effects etc). And then I saw the movies. They were all awful, made into big-dumb action movies with far too much CGI. I reckon you could fan edit the trilogy into one decent movie though.Harry Potter and the Philosopher's StoneI was one of the first kids in my primary school to read the Harry Potter books. I loved them. I was really looking forward to this movie. But I hated it. It just didn't have the magic of the books to me. In terms of nitpicking, I couldn't understand why Dudley was not blonde when he is explicitly described as such in the books. To this day, I have only seen the first two movies in the franchise.Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal SkullI expect this one to have high participation here. Basically it's very, very average. There is one or two really great scenes (the greaser/jock fight in the diner, the motorcycle chase on campus) amid a sea of mediocrity. Red Letter Media perfectly skewer the movie:Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal SkullTroyThis film is actually pretty passable/above average, but it could've/should've been great. I'm a big fan of sword and sandles epics, and this was one botched. The reason it was botched is that it did not include the gods or the supernatural in any way, when they're an integral part of the story. The way to include them would've been to copy the way they're portrayed in Harryhausen's Jason and the Argonauts. The idea of gods playing chess with men's lives fits the period really well. The Star Wars prequelsI actually didn't hate these when they first came out. My excuse there is that I was very young and just happy to see Star Wars on the big screen again. I think I saw Revenge of the Sith three times in the cinema! What was I thinking? Having thought a lot more about the movies though, they are all irredeemable turds.Tinker Tailor Soldier SpyI had high hopes for this. The period was realised beautifully, and it had an absolutely stellar cast (Oldman, Firth, Ciaran Hinds, Cumberbatch, Strong etc). The first hour was pretty good too. But the ending was rushed and unsatisfying. The plot is basically a detective story, and in a good detective story the audience should be able to form their own hypotheses and see how the main characters come to the conclusions that they do. But that doesn't happen in this movie, since the last 30 minutes is absurdly rushed. It took me several rewatches and a good bit of reading on wiki to see how Smiley came to the conclusion that Bill Haydon is the spy. This is the mark of a bad movie. Good movies are relatively self-contained. Really, this should have been a mini-series so that more justice could be done to it.That'll do for now.

Which K-pop boy groups are more popular because of their style than their music?

This is a rundown of the most stylish famous K-pop stars. I’ve picked some of them….1.Monsta XDebut: May 14, 2015The group was formed as the result of a survival program called No.Mercy, which was launched by Starship Entertainment and Mnet. The group's name, "Monsta X", contains the double meaning of "Monsters conquering the K-pop scene" and "My star (Mon means "My" in French). The X symbolizes an unknown existence.2. BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan)Debut: 2010Also known as Bangtan Boys, the group is managed under Big Hit Entertainment. The group currently holds the best selling album in South Korea having sold 20 million albums in Gaon Chart. Their lyrics, often focused on personal and social commentary, touch on the themes of mental health, troubles of school-age youth, loss, the journey towards loving oneself, and individualism. Their work features references to literature and psychological concepts and includes an alternative universe storyline.3. TroyDebut: March 13, 2014Troy is a four member Korean hip-hop group under Brand New Music, label of artists such as Phantom, Verbal Jint, San.E and more. The group made their official stage debut on MNET M! Countdown last March 13, 2014, followed by the release of their first single “GREEN LIGHT" on the March 14.After watching their mv Why Are We?, all I can say is that their voices are all good that I want to watched it again and again or should I say that I must record it or at least find mp3 around the net so I could listen to it wherever or whenever I want. And if you want a handsome rapper you can have Jaewoong. He is Troy's rapper that really knows his hip hop music. The group is now quickly building awareness with their excellent skills in music. They already made their name popular in hip-hop, but the group hasn't really received much attention maybe with the exception of Bumkey.4. JJCCDebut: March 14, 2014JJCC is the first K-pop idol group to be formed and reared by Jackie Chan. The name of the band is derived from the name of Jackie Chan and the group's aim.JJCC means Jackie Chan and Join and Cultures. It is translated to "Jackie Chan, let's spread k-pop." In the same way, the pronunciation of the group name (Double-JC) stands for "Double Joy Creative" or "Let's create double the joy." The band name is a tribute to Chan as well as his effort to "join cultures" in Asia through music.According to the official of The Jackie Chan Group Korea, “As formed and trained under the ambitious theme of ‘World can be conquered when Asia unites, ‘JJCC’ will amaze the world with its different music style and charm that have never existed before.”The group have only just debuted last March 14, 2014, hopefully their personality and charisma will start to slowly show.5. UniqDebut: October 20, 2014To those who didn't know, the group UNIQ is the product of four years of secret training at YG Entertainment, "a large entertainment agency in Korea" and will be promoting simultaneously in both China and Korea. The group is a composed of Chinese-Korean members. The group's name comes from the combination of the words unique and unicorn. After watching their mv "Falling in Love" I think I really fall in love with this group. They are really unique because all the members of this group have a diverse backgrounds and very talented. The members are all atractive and have a bright images. I can see a bright future for this group in the entertainment industry especially that they are appealing to the international fans.Unique officially debut on October 20, 2014 with the title track "Falling In Love", composed by Hyuk Shin, Yoonji Lee, Jordan Kyle and Hyeong Kyu Kim and written by two UNIQ members, Sungjoo and Seungyoun.6. MadtownDebut: October 6, 2014Mad Town is composed of seven members and is J. Tune Camp's first boy group with hip-hop music at its base, with outstanding good looks on top of every powerful performance skills.. They are a global group planning to promote in Korea and overseas simultaneously. The group implies the ‘gathering of seven passionate and free-spirited bad boys who love music and can party hard.As a Kpop fan, I believe that this group will be good and succeed in this industry. Though some of the fans claim that they have some similarities with other Kpop groups, still if we gonna dig down we can see their uniqueness as a group. They are all unique as a group and even as an individual. Congratulations Mad-town!7. HaloDebut: June 26, 2014According to the group's agency, HALO stands for Hexagon of Absolute Light and the Organization. In addition, the name of rookie boy group HALO uses the dictionary meaning of the word to represent an idol group that always shines bright everywhere they go when all 6 members come together. The group actually made an unofficial debut on Dream Concert 20th Anniversary 2014 for promoting their group. The song they performed was "체온이 뜨거워 (Temperature is Hot)". HALO's 1st single album is "38°C" with 4 tracks in it.This rookie boy group has a different concept, it's refreshing to see something new this year with the rookie boy groups! Looks like fans have a new favorite boy band. Good luck to this new group and I hope that you will succeed in the entertainment industry.8. Got7Debut: January 16, 2014The members of Got7 were recruited as trainees of JYP Entertainment after going through various auditions. It was on December 24, 2013 when JYP Entertainment announced that they would be debuting a new boy band in January 2014, describing the group as the next “2PM”.It was also announced that the band would be a performance team specializing in "martial arts tricking," which is a form of martial arts that fuses acrobatics and b-boying.Got7 is a boy band that is more appealing to teen audiences. Well, we can’t deny the fact that the ratio of teen audiences compared to others is higher.9. BigfloDebut: June 19, 2014BIGFLO is a new Korean hip hop group under HO Company. They debuted on M Countdown, on the June 19, 2014, with the single 딜라일라 (Delilah).Okay, after watching their MV Delilah, I can smell a huge potential here in this group. As for me, Jungkyun is like Changmin of TVXQ, he can hit the high notes. The redhead guy untamed and hyperactive. These Korean guys know that having a complete rainbow hair palette in a band means instant success, besides of being unique.Their style and concepts are somewhat the same with other K-pop groups. But I don't mind it as long as I enjoy listening and like them.

What are top 15 movies of 2000-2010?

What I think was the "Golden Age" in cinema began with the year 1997 and ended in 2009. I think about 100 great movies were released in this 12 year period that it makes it the most successful film-making period of all times. I believe it was with "Titanic" and its great success that people turned to cinema so much. Now, looking at it, it's cheesy and corny...but it was lovable when first seen. It was unlike anything else. Leonardo di Caprio shouting from that ship's front will always be remembered! It had (in no particular order, but rows of 10s so they can be read):Titanic, the Italian La Vita e Bella (Roberto Benigni and his son in a Nazi concentration camp in Italy), The Big Lebowski, The Matrix 1, 2 and 3, American Beauty, The Green Mile, The Lord of the Rings 1, 2 and 3,Into the Wild (Emile Hirsh), Klass (Estonian movie, similar to Gus van Sant's Elephant, but with more development and actual psychological research for the children), Harsh Times (a fairly unknown Christian Bale film), Metropolis (animated remake on the 1930s Metropolis and perfect in every aspect), Eyes Wide Shut, Buffalo 66, The Game (Michael Douglas), Lost in Translation, Mister Brooks, Starship Troopers (not the greatest actors, but memorable as a critique),Dark City, Equilibrium, Sleepy Hollow (now they just make horrors. They used to make at back then), A Devil's Advocate, Contact (1997), Sunshine (2007, 10 years after Contact, another great sci-fi, decades after 2001 and 2010), American Psycho (Christian Bale), Pandorum, Doubt (Amy Adams, Meryl Streep, PSH), The Mist (another Stephen King adaptation with a haunting ending),Knowing, the Dune miniseries (The Chronicles of Riddick was a nice attempt to emulate it, but was shut down immediately by idiot critics- they were by now starting to be terrible), Alpha Dog (Emile Hirsch again with a surprisingly good Timberlake and a Bruce Willis cameo as a mafioso which makes all the money), From Hell (Johnny Depp), Slumdog Millionaire (cringy, but I loved it), the Japanese Battle Royale, Reign of Fire (surprising McConaghuey and Christian Bale), Beowulf (the one with Ray Winstone, Anthony Hopkins and Angelina Jolie, we need more of that type of filming technique, more creation), Identity (back when John Cussack was still good), The Prince of Egypt (the animated with the great Mariah Carey-Whitney Houston duet),The Cell (I can't believe I'm naming a J Lopez film, but this was something soo beautiful- Vincent d'Onofrio was a nightmare villain, the costumes were great), Treasure Planet (2002, I had read the book too, but the relation between the kid and the cook villain was great and the idea to turn this into a space opera is perfect- the image with the Moon docking station is in my eyes for eternity- don;t ask me how breathing in space works- I don't care!! ), Titan AE (especially for that ending terraforming scene which for me as a kid was amazing), the best mother movie- Riding in Cars with Boys, the best father movie- Big Fish, Gattaca, Grosse Point Blank, The Talented Mr Ripley, Once Upon a Time in Mexico (I'm not a fan of Robert Rodriguez and especially not of Tarantino, but this one was a beautiful look inside Mexico, with a Johnny Depp in great form), Red Dragon,Dreamcatcher, Apocalypto, Angels&Demons (the best of the Dan Brown trilogy, with a spectacular Ewan McGregor as Il Camerlengo), Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (the ending jump off the cliff still haunts me poetically), Troy (I even liked it more than Gladiator, though Gladiator is the one more universally praised. Sadly they don;t make movies like these anymore....that desert sand feeling of overwhelming hot alone is worth watching these, last good one was Kingdom of Heaven), Vanilla Sky and Minority Report (people forget Tom Cruise was a real actor back then- he was also in Born on the 4th of July. I have never seen a greater fall...to go from those to....Jack Reacher ;))) ), Blood Diamond (Leo di Caprio has made a number of great films, a very good actor, but this performance tops them all. His conversation with the Jennifer Connelly character at the end made me cry- and I'm a a full grown man ;))- a movie better than The Departed if you ask me ), Enemy at the Gates (costly European film, back when Jude Law was a real actor- he also made interesting Existenz- and Raquel Weisz has been great in everything- from The fun Mummy movies to Agora),Any Given Sunday, The Pursuit of Happiness (the only Will Smith film I really liked), Hannibal, The Phantom at the Opera, The 25th Hour (flawless work by David Bennioff with powerful Ed Norton, Barry Pepper, Brian Cox, best monologue ever and wonderful ending), Number 23 (surprising Jim Carrey in a very serious role), Pi, Unbreakable, Mystic River,Training Day, Man on Fire (back when Denzel Washington was a real actor, now he's just doing shit like Equalizer 2), The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Great Expectations, 3:10 to Yuma, the First Planet of the Apes remake, The Ninth Gate, Being John Malkovich, Sweeney Todd, Serenity,Things we Lost in the Fire, LA Confidential, K-Pax, V for Vendetta.Of course, there were more, like Million Dollar Girl, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Nolan's Batmans, No Country for Old Men, There will be Blood, Gangs of New York, Exam, Memento, Shakespeare in Love, Saving Private Ryan, Avatar, The Prestige, Good Will Hunting, Fargo. I am not ashamed to stand up for my beliefs and say that these movies didn't really do it for me. I like them, I don't consider them bad, but I wouldn't put them in my "best" list and some things about them just were illogical for me. I can see the quality, but would rate them 8/10. Some people though think they're much better, so I'll just leave them here.Spotlight, 12 Years a Slave, Argo, The Hurt Locker, Driving Miss Daisy, The Green Book, Brokeback Mountain, Call me by Your Name- all politically correct, so lose points from me. (see how they've become so often Academy Award winners??)In this 1997-2009 period, we also had TV series like Lost and Battlestar Galactica, whose endings I am still thinking about (and this is a good thing for me- I don't say they were bad, you just have to watch them again). There were also movies like A Walk to Remember, The Sleeping Dictionary, Ghost (Patrick Swayze one) and O from Othello or Cruel Intentions (that Bittersweet Symphony part and Reese back when she was a real actress- now it's just shameful if you play that kind of girl, it means you're not an empowered female lol). Not sure if they classify as really great, but they were great within their genre and they were really fun to watch. They also had references to real, powerful medieval plays and people would actually learn from watching them (also Valmont, especially the one by Milos Forman). Now....what do people learn? I've seen the recent Shakespeare movies and I was not impressed. The di Caprio, Claire Danes and John Leguizamo "Romeo and Juliet" was waay more fun and interesting than any of these today.Even some films like Karate Kid (Eye of the Tiger scene) or The Faculty (a Robert Rodriguez film) actually CREATED.I'm sorry for the long rant and I know nobody is probably gonna read this, but I just had to say it. Compare that period (up to 2009) with this decade (2011-2019). I said there have been just The Great Gatsby, Cloud Atlas, Manchester by the Sea, Arrival, Inside Out and a few more which were enjoyable and I would have rated them higher, but the "critics" destroyed them. And outside of Hollywood La Grande Belezza, Hungarian Kut, They Call me Jeeg Robot. Other people mentioned The Place Beyond the Pines or Nightcrawler or Avengers or Guardians of the Galaxy, which, seriously, cannot be considered that great movies. They are generic Hollywood flicks (yes, even Nightcrawler with Gyllenhall). You know, people were stopping me the other day to tell me how great "Baby Driver" was. I had seen this movie in my home and was so perplexed of how bad Hollywood had become. The acting by Jon Hamm was ridiculous, the teenage fantasy and one-liners made me puke and I had really no idea that this movie had gathered such a agreat cult following!! People genuinely believe that Baby Driver was a good movie!! This is where we are with cinema. This is where cinema has gotten. And if you tell me that it isn't dead, then I tell you that I haven;t seen one (1) creative film since 2013!!Even if we count the year 2010, which had Inception, Arronofsky's ballet dream-like Black Swann, Shutter Island- 3 great movies, even if we count The Revenant as not a plagiarism of Tarkovsky, we still don't get more than 15 great movies since 2010 until today.
