PDF Editor FAQ
Has there ever been a conspiracy theory that has been verified and turned into history?
Are you kidding, there have been many more than I could list. Remember this when thinking about 9/11 and JFK, Lusitania, War of 1812, Creation of AIDS, Lyme diseases, Legionaries Disease, Ebola, West Nile Virus, Chemtrails, danger in Vaccines."Project Sunshine," for example. In the wake of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the U.S. government commenced a major study to measure the effects of nuclear fallout on the human body.Conspiracy: The government was stealing dead bodies to do radioactive testing. The government was stealing parts of dead bodies. Because they needed young tissue, they recruited a worldwide network of agents to find recently deceased babies and children, and then take samples and even limbs—each collected without notification or permission of the more than 1,500 grieving families.Conspiracy: During Prohibition, the government poisoned alcohol to keep people from drinking.Manufacturers of industrial alcohol had been mixing their product with dangerous chemicals for years prior to Prohibition. But between 1926 and 1933, the federal government pushed manufacturers to use stronger poisons to discourage bootleggers from turning the alcohol into moonshine. That didn't stop the bootleggers or their customers, and by the end of Prohibition, more than 10,000 Americans had been killed by tainted booze.Conspiracy: A stroke rendered President Woodrow Wilson incapable of governing, and his wife surreptitiously stepped in.Wilson did suffer a debilitating stroke towards the end of his presidency—but the government felt it was in the country's best interest to keep things quiet. The public didn't learn about the stroke for months, during which time his wife, Edith Wilson, was making most executive decisions. Despite Mrs. Wilson claiming that she acted only as a "steward," historians who have analyzed the Wilson term in office confirm that for well over a year, Mrs. Wilson was effectively president.Conspiracy: The CIA was testing LSD and other hallucinogenic drugs on Americans in a top-secret experiment on behavior modification. The program was known as MK-ULTRA, and it was real. The CIA started by using volunteers—the novelist Ken Kesey was one notable subject. But the program heads soon began dosing people without their knowledge; MK-ULTRA left many victims permanently mentally disabled.Conspiracy: The Dalai Lama is a CIA agent.Perhaps the reason the Dalai Lama is smiling in all those photos has something to do with the six-figure salary he pulled down from the U.S. government during the 1960s. According to declassified intelligence documents, he earned $180,000 in connection with the CIA's funding of the Tibetan Resistance to the tune of $1.7 million per year. The idea was to disrupt and hamper China's infrastructure.Conspiracy: The FBI was spying on former Beatle John Lennon. They most certainly were. Like many counter-culture heroes, Lennon was considered a threat: "Anti-war songs, like "Give Peace a Chance" didn't exactly endear former Beatle John Lennon to the Nixon administration," NPR reported in 2010. "In 1971, the FBI put Lennon under surveillance, and the Immigration and Naturalization Service tried to deport him a year later."Conspiracy: The Gulf of Tonkin incident on August 2, 1964, was faked to provoke American support for the Vietnam War.By the time news reached American ears, the facts surrounding the North Vietnamese attack on the American Naval ship Maddox were already fuzzy. Declassified intelligence documents have since revealed that the Maddox had provided support for South Vietnamese attacks on a nearby island. The event "opened the floodgates for direct American military involvement in Vietnam."In the mid-1980s, President Ronald Reagan saw the Nicaraguan contras, who he had referred to as the equivalent to America's Founding Fathers, struggling to repel the Communist Sandinistas for control of the country. At the same time, the Reagan administration had a problem in another part of the world. Iran, a U.S. enemy following the Iranian hostage crisis, needed arms to fight a war with Iraq and made a request to the United States to supply them, despite an arms embargo. Killing two birds with one stone, the U.S. secretly supplied arms to Iran via Israel in exchange for American hostages and cash. That money was then funneled to the contras in Nicaragua. In 1986, a Lebanese newspaper exposed the scheme, forcing the president to appear on national television to deny such an arrangement ever took place. The Tower Commission, appointed by Reagan, investigated, as did Congress. Although Reagan and Vice President George H.W. Bush were never directly linked to the Iran-Contra program, 14 administration officials were indicted, resulting in 11 convictions, all of which were either overturned on appeal or pardoned.Peaceful protests and demonstrations by anti-war and civil rights activists are protected speech covered by the First Amendment. Because of the disruptive nature of their work, however, many of these activists had long suspected the government of monitoring and meddling with their activities. In 1971, these suspicions were confirmed after anti-war activists broke into a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Media, Penn., and stole top secret documents, which were then copied and distributed to the media. The documents revealed a program called Cointelpro, Counterintelligence Program, tasked with the surveillance, infiltration and disruption of peace, civil rights and black power movements by government agents beginning in 1956. FBI director J. Edgar Hoover had viewed these groups as a threat to national security, and demanded that news outlets return the stolen documents. The New York Times and Los Angeles complied, but the Washington Post went ahead with reporting the story. When Fidel Castro rose to power in 1959 and soon made it clear that the United States would have a Communist nation 90 miles south of the border, government officials considered various ways of inducing a regime change, including an all-out war with Cuba. In order to spark such a conflict, defense officials devised what would become known as Operation Northwoods, a plan that involved the government essentially committing acts of terrorism against ordinary citizens and blaming it on Cuba. Attacks up for consideration included hijacking planes, blowing up a military ship in Guantanamo Bay and bombing U.S. cities. The plans had the approval of the military brass, the Joint Chiefs of Staff and secretary of defense Robert McNamara, but were shot down by President Kennedy. The CIA Had Nayirah al-Sabah Bear False Witness against Iraq.Nayirah al-Sabah was a woman in Kuwait who, in 1990, testified on the floor of the House of Representatives that she had personally witnessed Iraqi soldiers invade Kuwaiti hospitals and take newborn infants out of their incubators and throw them onto the cold floor to freeze to death. Nayirah was invited primarily by Tom Lantos, who had made no secret of his desire that the U. S. retaliate against Iraq for its offenses against Kuwait. It was Nayirah’s testimony that provided the largest part of the foundation for American public opinion in favor of military force against Iraq, and the CIA was responsible for organizing the funds and advertisements to disseminate Nayirah’s testimony. They enlisted the help of Hill & Knowlton, a global public relations corporation that specializes in marketing, to reach the masses. It was not until 1992 that John MacArthur of the New York Timesdiscovered Nayirah was the daughter of the Kuwaiti Ambassador the U. S., and that her story had been utterly fabricated. Thus was it shown that the CIA assisted a few powers-that-were in America in waging war with Iraq for another purpose, and that purpose was oil. The Iraqis did invade Kuwait and should not have done so, but they did not throw babies out of incubators. The nurses and doctors who supposedly witnessed this with Nayirah had already fled, and most of them stated that she was lying. The CIA had paid her to lie, and even paid for her to attend acting classes to appear convincing. It worked.Operation MockingbirdMockingbird began the same year that the Office of Special Projects was founded by Frank Wisner. In 1951, the OSP, renamed Office of Policy Coordination, merged with the CIA and became the agency’s covert paramilitary branch. Its first and principle assignment was to influence national media toward the hatred and fear of Soviet Communism. The CIA funded the operation with money from the Marshall Plan, and bribed journalists and newspaper editors who grew wise to their ulterior motive. Mockingbird led, directly and immediately, to Senator Joseph McCarthy’s rise to power. The operation became so widespread that the CIA started influencing international media and even international politics. It was due in large part to Mockingbird that Guatemala staged a coup d’etat against Colonel Jacobo Guzman, whom the CIA deemed communist. Mockingbird was responsible for $300,000 of the funding of the 1954 Animal Farm cartoon. They asked Walt Disney if he wanted to make the film, and he balked at the prospect. He was anti-Communist, but the novel does not end happily, and Disney wanted nothing to do with such a story.Mockingbird also incited the 1953 Iranian coup d’etat and the Bay of Pigs Invasion. David Bruce, appointed by Dwight Eisenhower to investigate this covert propaganda, stated that Mockingbird is responsible for over 50% of international politics over the last half of the 20th Century.Prohibition AlcoholWe-Want-Beer 20110513-2315Theory: The FBI Poisoned Alcohol during ProhibitionConspiracy theorists like to point out that the government (usually the U. S. government) is poisoning the national populace, which is blissfully unaware, via chemtrails and/or flouridation. How laughable, most of us say, and yet, although there is no proof of these two, the FBI did, in truth, poison liquor stores during Prohibition for the purpose of “dissuading” people from that demon hooch.Prohibition lasted from 1920 to 1933 in the U. S., and was absolutely unenforceable. Everyone of the public knew perfectly well that a drink now and then was not at all harmful, and refused to accept its absence. Prohibition was impelled by the Temperance Movement, which promoted teetotalism, or utter abstinence from alcohol. Its most prominent activist was Carrie Nation, a 6-foot, 180-pound, blue-haired battle axe, who stormed into bars and smashed their kegs open with a hatchet. Amazingly, no drunks ever beat her up for this.Once Prohibition went into effect, the FBI saw fit to enforce it as well as possible, since the law is the law, and, by adding potentially fatal impurities to it, endeavored to teach the public that it was going to lose with Mr. Booze. These impurities included methane, formaldehyde, ammonia, and even arsenic and kerosene. But the FBI’s usual method, without informing the populace, of course, was to denature drinkable alcohol, which is called ethanol, by adding rubbing alcohol, which is made of water and propene. Propene is distilled from natural gas and oil; rubbing alcohol does a fine job cleaning wounds and preventing infection, but will destroy your intestines, kidneys, and liver if you drink it. The FBI also added acetone, which is paint thinner. Not surprisingly, people started dying quite readily from what seemed alcohol intoxication, and this only fueled the Temperance Movement’s assertion that alcohol is the Devil.Gulf of Tonkin Incident;Gulf Of Tonkin ImageTheory: The Incident in the Gulf of Tonkin Is Only Half TrueIn history books, the Gulf of Tonkin incident is usually cited as the immediate instigation for war between the United States and North Vietnam. The general casus belli was to protect the democracy of South Vietnam from the North’s communist aggression. The straw that was seen in the West as breaking the camel’s back was when, on 2 and 4 August 1964, in the waters between Vietnam and Hainan, China, U. S. naval vessels were attacked by Vietnamese naval vessels and defended themselves, killing some Vietnamese sailors.American public sentiment called for immediate retaliation, and the Congress resolved that Lyndon Johnson could defend any Southeast Asian nation from Communism. The war was on.What the public was not told for a long time was that the incident on 4 August did not take place. The first incident was a legitimate naval battle, in which the USS Maddox fought off three Vietnamese torpedo boats and killed 4 Vietnamese sailors. But two days later, the Vietnamese were engaged in salvaging their vessels and no hostilities erupted. Nevertheless, Johnson informed the public that the Maddox and the USS Turner Joy had been attacked in separate battles. The Turner Joy had not been http://attacked.In keeping with #3, the CIA was for a time regarded as having deliberately spread this false information among the national public to sway favor toward war against Communism. Dozens of senators and congressmen were calling for land invasions of North Vietnam, and then China, and then Russia if they dared retaliate, nuclear weapons be damned.Today, we know that the misinformation was spread by the National Security Agency, and not for political reasons, but to cover up genuine mistakes they made during the second incident: their radar showed what they thought were approaching enemy warships, but which were, in truth, tricks of light that confused their equipment.False WitnessNayirahTheory: The CIA Had Nayirah al-Sabah Bear False WitnessNayirah al-Sabah was a woman in Kuwait who, in 1990, testified on the floor of the House of Representatives that she had personally witnessed Iraqi soldiers invade Kuwaiti hospitals and take newborn infants out of their incubators and throw them onto the cold floor to freeze to death. It is extremely resistant to burning, and was used for the majority of the 20th Century as a protective suit for fire fighters, race car drivers, and many other high-risk occupations. Motorcyclist, stuntman, and actor Steve McQueen died from malignant mesothelioma, which is the cancer usually caused by inhaling asbestos fibers.Asbestos has been in use for about 4,500 years, mined in the form of fibrous, hair-like material on and within rock ore, and the 20th Century companies that mass-produced asbestos were beset from 1900 to 1981 by doctors, insurance companies, and occupational hazard organizations who investigated the adverse health effects of asbestos. It was well known in academic and medical circles since at least the turn of the century that asbestos was very dangerous to be around. Even the Ancient Greeks described asbestos miners as suffering from lung ailments.Yet the companies that mass-produced found it big business and did everything within their considerable power to cover up the truth about asbestosis, mesothelioma, and pulmonary fibrosis; these companies included Johns-Manville Corp., Amatex, Carey-Canada, Celotex, Unarco, National Gypsum, and Eagle-Pilcher. Every one of these companies attempted to destroy the reputations of any independent medical authorities who sought to disclose the truth about asbestos. Physicians employed by the companies informed their superiors that asbestos does indeed cause severe health problems, but that as long as the workers are able to perform their duties, they should not be told of their medical conditions, since this would cause the companies financial woes.Johns-Manville was labeled “the greatest corporate mass-murderer in history.” It was not until the 1990s that lawsuits, the first of which cropped up in 1929, finally took their toll on these companies, none of which ever admitted to any wrongdoing, and 25 of them filed for bankruptcy. Many were bought by others, and today, asbestos is still legally produced and used in the United States, and some of the companies still maintain that it causes their employees no medical problems. It is banned in Europe.4Civil Rights ActivistsCointelproTheory: The FBI Sought to Neutralize Civil Rights ActivistsThe FBI referred to this as COINTELPRO, or Counter Intelligence Programs, specifically those targeted at activists of almost any organization from 1956 to 1971. During those years of turmoil, Martin Luther King was the primary spokesperson for civil rights in America, and the FBI considered him and his movement equivalent to the Black Panthers, the American Indian Movement, the NAACP, the Congress for Racial Equality, and dozens of others all striving to attain equal rights for all races. COINTELPRO referred to all of these groups and movements as “black hate groups,” even the American Indian Movement, and spent 85% of its money on attempts to subvert them; the remaining 15% it spent on the subversion of “white hate groups” like the http://KKK.It is highly possible, albeit very unlikely, that the FBI in some way coerced James Earl Ray into killing Martin Luther King, or simply did the job themselves and pinned it on Ray. King’s family concluded in 1998 that Ray had nothing at all to do with the assassination. All these domestic political organizations and movements, as the FBI labeled them, were deemed threats to national security. If he had done his thing in America in the 20th Century, it is probable that the FBI would have considered Jesus guilty of the same kind of sedition. In general, COINTELPRO targeted the entire left wing of political thought; anyone liberal was seen as a danger to American society and slandered in print, sued or threatened with imprisonment, imprisoned, and illegally wiretapped. What may well be the FBI’s most shocking atrocity occurred on 4 December 1969, when the home of Fred Hampton, a Black Panther Party officer, was invaded by the Chicago Police, who used deadly force against him and Mark Clark. Clark was shot first, and Hampton was unable to wake to the sound of gunfire because FBI agent William O’Neal had infiltrated their organization and spiked Hampton’s supper with barbiturates. The police shot him to death while he slept unarmed in bed.3Scientology05-Center-Of-Scientology-Tel-Aviv-David-MiscavigeTheory: Scientologists Planned to Have Paulette Cooper CommittedThis embarrassing moment in Scientology’s history was called “Operations ‘Daniel,’ ‘Dynamite,’ and ‘Freakout,’ and entailed the Church harassing Cooper with unbelievable intensity. Paulette Cooper is an American author who has written defamatory literature against the Church of Scientology. Scientologists are extremely easy to offend in this way, and undertake legitimate and illegal retaliation whenever they see fit.Cooper published an article in a British newspaper in 1971 that the Church sued to have withdrawn and won $8,000 from the newspaper. Cooper then promptly expanded this article into an entire book, The Scandal of Scientology. For the next 6 years, the Church ran a covert mission to vilify, defame, ridicule, harass, threaten, and even assassinate Cooper, all with the intent to make her shut up about exposing Scientology’s idiotic beliefs (read: the story of Xenu). Their goal was either to cause Cooper to go insane from the constant stress, or convince the authorities that she was insane, in either event leading to her committal or imprisonment. Over the years, as both sides threatened, pursued, and made good on civil legal actions, the Church held meetings to discuss how they could kill Cooper and not get caught.A member broke into Cooper’s office in 1972 and stole a bundle of her stationery, then forged bomb threats on it to blackmail her. This worked to a small extent; Cooper was indicted and brought before a grand jury, but there was insufficient evidence to proceed. “Freakout” consisted of a three-point plan to discredit Cooper in the public’s eyes, by having a professionally-trained actress impersonate Cooper on the telephone to Arab Consuls in New York. Then her stationery would be used for another bomb threat to be mailed to one of these Consuls. Then a Scientologist would act as Cooper in person in a New York laundromat, threatening to kill President Ford and Henry Kissinger.Though “Freakout” was never implemented, Daniel and Dynamite certainly were and the astounding truth of how far the Church of Scientology had gone, and was prepared to go, to protect its false image was revealed in 1977 by a full-scale FBI investigation. L. Ron Hubbard’s third wife, Mary Sue, and a host of other officers in the Church, were imprisoned for up to 4 years. They still did not stop slandering and libeling Cooper, filing suit against her 20 times through the 1970s and 1980s. To Cooper’s credit, she fought right back the whole way, and the spectacle remained tooth-and-nail until 1985 when the Church finally paid Cooper a tidy sum out of court.2Domestic Terrorism John-F-Kennedy-Calls-On-Public-To-Vote-Video--33Aa29A4BcTheory:The U. S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Plan to Terrorize the U. S. PopulaceThe Joint Chiefs are the 5 generals and admirals in charge of the 5 branches of the U. S military. In 1962, those men were George Decker (Army), David Shoup (Marines), Georg Anderson, Jr. (Navy), Curtis LeMay (Air Force), and Edwin Roland (Coast Guard), along with a few others, all chaired by Lyman Lemnitzer (Army). The entire board of the Joint Chiefs of Staff proposed, drafted, and agreed on a plan to concoct a casus belli for war against Communist Cuba, under Fidel Castro. Their collective motive was to reduce the constant threat of Communist encroachment into the Western Hemisphere, per the Monroe Doctrine. This plan was named Operation Northwoods, and entailed the most impossibly indifferent cruelty ever envisioned by a government against its own people. In order to sway public sentiment in favor of the war, the Joint Chiefs planned to bomb high pedestrian-traffic areas in major American cities, including Miami, New York, Washington, D. C., and possibly Chicago and Los Angeles; to frame U. S. citizens for these bombings; to shoot innocent, unarmed civilians on the streets in full view of hundreds of witnesses; to napalm military and merchant vessels in port, while people were aboard; to sink vessels carrying Cuban refugees bound for Florida; to hijack planes for ransom. Not only did every single member of the Joint Chiefs sign his approval of this plan, they then sent it to Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara for his approval, and then to President Kennedy. McNamara claimed years later never to have seen it, but that he would have rejected it. Kennedy, however, did receive it, and promptly called a meeting of the Joint Chiefs, in which he threatened, with severe profanity, to court martial and incarcerate every one of them. The President cannot actually do this, but can order the Congress and military branches to do so, and in these circumstances, they most certainly would have. But Kennedy decided that it would cause irreparable disrespect around the world for the U. S. military. He did remove Lemnitzer from his position as Chairman and assign him as Supreme Allied Commander in Europe, not much of a demotion.Theorists claim that the military may have had a hand in Kennedy’s assassination because of his blistering rebuke of the Joint Chiefs. This, however, remains unproven.1Heart Attack Gun22Shane.Xlarge1Theory: The CIA’s Heart Attack GunThis weapon exists. The CIA actually invented it with taxpayer money in the late 1960s to early 1970s. It was not disclosed until 1975, when Senator Frank Church displayed it to a subcommittee investigating the CIA’s illegal activities. They are specifically forbidden from directly killing anyone in the performance of espionage and intelligence-gathering. The gun was designed to be untraceable. It fires a bullet made of ice, about 0.11 inches wide, less than the diameter of a BB, which has been brushed with a minute amount of shellfish toxin. This toxin induces a myocardial infarction in any human, regardless of size or physical fitness. The bullet then melts leaving no trace of any kind. Autopsies would discover the presence of shellfish toxin in the bloodstream, but if the victim has died of a legitimate heart attack, unnaturally induced or not, an autopsy is unlikely. The entrance wound of the dart would appear about as minor as a mosquito bite. There is no consensus on who, if anyone, the CIA has assassinated with this gun, but it is most likely that they have used it. Theorists point to Andrew Breitbart, a conservative media mogul who published less than flattering stories and details about President Barack Obama. He had promised in the months prior to his death that he would publish proof that Obama’s presidency was illegitimate. Breitbart collapsed on the sidewalk in a Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles on 1 March 2012 and was taken to a hospital where he died of a massive heart attack at the age of 43, despite being relatively fine health. He was not seriously overweight, but the coroner report states that cardiomegaly caused his heart to fail.it is possible that the gun was used to assassinate Mark Pittman, the financial journalist who, in 2007, predicted the ongoing American economic recession, which was caused by subprime mortgaging. During the subsequent federal bailouts of major financial companies, Pittman famously sued the Federal Reserve for mishandling taxpayer money. The case is still on appeal. Pittman, however, died on 25 November 2009 in Yonkers, New York, in the very same circumstances as Breitbart. He was walking down the sidewalk and collapsed from a heart attack. He was 52. but possible victims notwithstanding, the heart attack gun does exist, and the CIA invented it. They could have had only one purpose in store for it. The conspiracy theorists got this one right.CIA plot to murder Patrice LumumbaIn June of 1960, Patrice Lumumba began serving as the first legally elected prime minister of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Six months later, he was killed by an execution squad by an inter-related assassination plot by the American and Belgian governments.Patrice Lumumba was determined to achieve genuine independence for the DRC, including full control over Congo’s resources. The U.S. and its western allies were concerned with the DRC’s independent control over strategic raw materials, lest they fall to enemy hands in the Soviet camp. Lumumba was deemed a threat to western interests. The U.S. and Belgium conspired and bought the support of Lumumba’s Congolese rivals, hiring killers for his execution.Tuskegee syphilis experimentThis study left the participants with plenty of bad blood; the opposite of what they thought they were being treated for. The infamous clinical study conducted between 1932 and 1972 told the 600 black men they were being treated for “bad blood,” when actually they weren’t receiving proper treatment to cure their illnesses. While 201 of the men had no ailment, 399 tested positive for syphilis. The researchers never told the men they weren’t being treated; instead, they were letting them and examining their bodies to see what the disease did. The study was conducted without the patients’ informed consent. Researchers promised the participants free health care from the U.S. government, including free medical exams and burial insurance. The overthrow of Chile’s Salvador AllendeThe 1973 Chilean coup d’état that overthrew Chile’s legally elected president, Salvador Allende, is still shrouded in unconfirmed details. The U.S. Senate opened an investigation into possible U.S. interference in Chile following an incriminating New York Times article. The United States Intelligence Committee report stated that the CIA didn’t instigate the coup but was aware of coup-plotting by the military.Robert Dallek, author of Nixon and Kissinger: Partners in Power, reviewed recordings of phone conversations between President Nixon and Henry Kissinger and concluded that they used the CIA to purposefully damage the Allende government. Kissinger complained about the lack of recognition of the American role in the overthrow of a “communist” government.Remember the Maine, to Hell with SpainThe Spanish Empire was the first truly global empire, reaching its territorial height in the late 1700s. By 1898, Spain was losing territories regularly. Cuba too was becoming increasingly hard to control and a minor revolution had broken out. This wasn't welcome news to people in the United States who owned Cuban sugar, tobacco and iron industry properties valued at over $50 million (worth ca. $1.2 billion today)._The main stream media, then dominated by newspaper magnates Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst, exaggerated - and outright fabricated - stories of horrible conditions under Spanish rule. Following the age-old maxim, "If it bleeds, it leads", the newspapers published stories about Spanish death camps, Spanish cannibalism and inhumane torture. The newspapers sent reporters to Cuba. However, when they got there, they found a different story. Artist and correspondent Frederick Remington wrote back to Hearst: "There is no war. Request to be recalled." Hearst's famous reply: "Please remain. You furnish the pictures, I'll furnish the war." And he did. His newspaper, continually screaming how Spanish Cuba was going to hell in a hand basket, convinced big business interests in the US to put pressure on anti-war President William McKinley to protect their Cuban investments. McKinley, in response, sent the USS Maine battleship to Havana Harbour as a calming show of force.Three weeks after arriving, on the night of February 15, 1898, the USS Maine exploded, killing 266 men. There are two theories for the explosion: some believe the explosion was caused by an external mine that detonated the ship's ammunition magazines. Others say it was caused by a spontaneous coal bunker fire that reached the ammunition magazines. Currently, the evidence seems to favour the external mine theory._Without waiting on an investigation, America's mainstream media blamed the tragedy on Spain and beat the drums for war. By April, McKinley yielded to public pressure and signed a congressional resolution declaring war on Spain. To help pay for the Spanish-American War, congress enacted a "temporary" tax of 3 percent on long-distance telephone bills. This was essentially a tax on the rich, as only about 1,300 Americans owned phones in 1898. Although the Spanish-American War ended in 1898, the temporary tax was only abolished in... 2005. Over its lifetime, the 107-year-old tax generated almost $94 billion - more than 230 times the cost of the Spanish-American War.The Spanish-American War put a large nail in the coffin of Spain's global empire. And by the end of 1898, the United States, which was founded in opposition to imperialism, found itself in control not only of Cuba, but of the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Hawaiian Islands as well. The Myth of Pearl HarbourOn Sunday morning, December 7, 1941, the Japanese launched a sneak attack at Pearl Harbor that decimated the US Pacific Fleet and forced the United States to enter WWII. That's what most of us were taught as school children... But, except for the date, everything you just read is a myth. In reality, there was no sneak attack. The Pacific Fleet was far from destroyed. And, furthermore, the United States took great pains to bring about the assault._On January 27, 1941, Joseph C. Grew, the U.S. ambassador to Japan, wired Washington that he'd learned of the surprise attack Japan was preparing for Pearl Harbour. On September 24, a dispatch from Japanese naval intelligence to Japan's consul general in Honolulu was deciphered. The transmission was a request for a grid of exact locations of ships in Pearl Harbour. Surprisingly, Washington chose not to share this information with the officers at Pearl Harbour. Then, on November 26, the main body of the Japanese strike force (consisting of six aircraft carriers, two battleships, three cruisers, nine destroyers, eight tankers, 23 fleet submarines, and five midget submarines) departed Japan for Hawaii._Despite the myth that the strike force maintained strict radio silence, US Naval intelligence intercepted and translated many dispatches. And, there was no shortage of dispatches: Tokyo sent over 1000 transmissions to the attack fleet before it reached Hawaii. Some of these dispatches, in particular this message from Admiral Yamamoto, left no doubt that Pearl Harbour was the target of a Japanese attack: "The task force, keeping its movement strictly secret and maintaining close guard against submarines and aircraft, shall advance into Hawaiian waters, and upon the very opening of hostilities shall attack the main force of the United States fleet and deal it a mortal blow. The first air raid is planned for the dawn of x-day. Exact date to be given by later order."_Even on the night before the attack, US intelligence decoded a message pointing to Sunday morning as a deadline for some kind of Japanese action. The message was delivered to the Washington high command more than four hours before the attack on Pearl Harbour. But, as many messages before, it was withheld from the Pearl Harbour commanders.Although many ships were damaged at Pearl Harbour, they were all old and slow. The main targets of the Japanese attack fleet were the Pacific Fleet's aircraft carriers, but Roosevelt made sure these were safe from the attack: in November, at about the same time as the Japanese attack fleet left Japan, Roosevelt sent the Lexington and Enterprise out to sea. Meanwhile, the Saratoga was in San Diego._Why did Pearl Harbour happen? Roosevelt wanted a piece of the war pie. Having failed to bait Hitler by giving $50.1 billion in war supplies to Britain, the Soviet Union, France and China as part of the Lend Lease program, Roosevelt switched focus to Japan. Because Japan had signed a mutual defence pact with Germany and Italy, Roosevelt knew war with Japan was a legitimate back door to joining the war in Europe. On October 7, 1940, one of Roosevelt's military advisors, Lieutenant Commander Arthur McCollum, wrote a memo detailing an 8-step plan that would provoke Japan into attacking the United States. Over the next year, Roosevelt implemented all eight of the recommended actions. In the summer of 1941, the US joined England in an oil embargo against Japan. Japan needed oil for its war with China, and had no remaining option but to invade the East Indies and Southeast Asia to get new resources. And that required getting rid of the US Pacific Fleet first._Although Roosevelt may have got more than he bargained for, he clearly let the attack on Pearl Harbour happen, and even helped Japan by making sure their attack was a surprise. He did this by withholding information from Pearl Harbour's commanders and even by ensuring the attack force wasn't accidentally discovered by commercial shipping traffic. As Rear Admiral Richmond K. Turner stated in 1941: "We were prepared to divert traffic when we believed war was imminent. We sent the traffic down via the Torres Strait, so that the track of the Japanese task force would be clear of any traffic."Operation AJAX and false flag terrorThe notion that governments and intelligence agencies carry out acts of false flag terrorism has long been derided by the establishment media as a conspiracy theory, despite there being a plethora of historically documented instances. After decades of denial, in August 2013 the CIA finally admitted its role in staging the coup in Iran which led to the overthrow of Mohammad Mossadegh in 1953 under the umbrella of Operation AJAX.Operation Gladio: State Sponsored Terror Blamed on the LeftFollowing the Second World War, the CIA and Britain’s MI6 collaborated through NATO on Operation Gladio, an effort to create a “stay behind army” to fight communism in the event of a Soviet invasion of Western Europe.Gladio quickly transcended its original mission and became a covert terror network consisting of right wing militias, organized crime elements, agent provocateurs, and secret military units. The so-called stay behind armies were active in France, Belgium, Denmark, The Netherlands, Norway, Germany, and Switzerland.Gladio’s “Strategy of Tension” was designed to portray leftist political groups in Europe as terrorists and frighten the populace into voting for authoritarian governments. In order to carry out this goal, Gladio operatives conducted a number of deadly terrorist attacks that were blamed on leftists and Marxists. In August of 1980, Gladio operatives bombed a train station in Bologna, killing 85 people. Initially blamed on the Red Brigades, it was later discovered that fascist elements within the Italian secret police and Licio Gelli, the head of the P2 Masonic Lodge, were responsible for the terror attack. Other fascist groups, including Avanguardia Nazionale and Ordine Nuovo, were mobilized and engaged in terror.Operation Gladio ultimately claimed the lives of hundreds of people across Europe.According to Vincenzo Vinciguerra, a Gladio terrorist serving a life-sentence for murdering policemen, the reason for Gladio was simple. It was designed to force these people, the Italian public, to turn to the state to ask for greater security. This is the political logic that lies behind all the massacres and the bombings which remain unpunished, because the state cannot convict itself or declare itself responsible for what happened.CIA Drug TraffickingThe Central Intelligence Agency has been implicated in drug trafficking operations all over the world as well as domestically, most notably during the Iran-Contra affair, under which Contra personnel smuggled cocaine into the U.S. with the blessing of the CIA which was then distributed as crack cocaine in Los Angeles, with the profits being funneled back to the Contras.Former Los Angeles Police Department officer Michael Ruppert also testified that he had witnessed CIA drug trafficking.Top Mexican drug lords like Jesus Vicente Zambada Niebla have also gone public to assert that they were hired by the U.S. government for drug trafficking operations. There is a voluminous body of evidence that confirms the CIA and U.S. banking giants are the top players in a global drug trade worth hundreds of billions of dollars a year, information made public by the likes of Gary Webb.Very few Americans are aware of this historical 1999 civil law suit of the King Family against the US Government. (Shelby County Court), TennesseeCoretta Scott King: “We have done what we can to reveal the truth, and we now urge you as members of the media, and we call upon elected officials, and other persons of influence to do what they can to share the revelation of this case to the widest possible audience.” – King Family Press Conference, Dec. 9, 1999.From the King Center on the family’s civil trial that found the US government guilty in Martin’s assassination:After four weeks of testimony and over 70 witnesses in a civil trial in Memphis, Tennessee, twelve jurors reached a unanimous verdict on December 8, 1999 after about an hour of deliberations that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated as a result of a conspiracy. In a press statement held the following day in Atlanta, Mrs. Coretta Scott King welcomed the verdict, saying ,“There is abundant evidence of a major high level conspiracy in the assassination of my husband, Martin Luther King, Jr. And the civil court’s unanimous verdict has validated our belief. I wholeheartedly applaud the verdict of the jury and I feel that justice has been well served in their deliberations. This verdict is not only a great victory for my family, but also a great victory for America. It is a great victory for truth itself. It is important to know that this was a SWIFT verdict, delivered after about an hour of jury deliberation. The jury was clearly convinced by the extensive evidence that was presented during the trial that, in addition to Mr. Jowers, the conspiracy of the Mafia, local, state and federal government agencies, were deeply involved in the assassination of my husband. The jury also affirmed overwhelming evidence that identified someone else, not James Earl Ray, as the shooter, and that Mr. Ray was set up to take the blame. I want to make it clear that my family has no interest in retribution. Instead, our sole concern has been that the full truth of the assassination has been revealed and adjudicated in a court of law… My husband once said, “The moral arc of the universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” To-day, almost 32 years after my husband and the father of my four children was assassinated, I feel that the jury’s verdict clearly affirms this principle. With this faith, we can begin the 21st century and the new millennium with a new spirit of hope and healing.”U.S.S. LibertyDuring the Six-Day War, Israeli aircraft and torpedo boats attack the USS Liberty in international waters off Egypt’s Gaza Strip. The intelligence ship, well-marked as an American vessel and only lightly armed, was attacked first by Israeli aircraft that fired napalm and rockets at the ship. The Liberty attempted to radio for assistance, but the Israeli aircraft blocked the transmissions. Eventually, the ship was able to make contact with the U.S. carrier Saratoga, and 12 fighter jets and four tanker planes were dispatched to defend the Liberty. When word of their deployment reached Washington, however, Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara ordered them recalled to the carrier, and they never reached the Liberty. The reason for the recall remains unclear.Back in the Mediterranean, the initial air raid against the Liberty was over. Nine of the 294 crewmembers were dead and 60 were wounded. Suddenly, the ship was attacked by Israeli torpedo boats, which launched torpedoes and fired artillery at the ship. Under the command of its wounded captain, William L. McGonagle, the Liberty managed to avert four torpedoes, but one struck the ship at the waterline. Heavily damaged, the ship launched three lifeboats, but these were also attacked–a violation of international law. Failing to sink the Liberty, which displaced 10,000 tons, the Israelis finally desisted. In all, 34 Americans were killed and 171 were wounded in the two-hour attack. In the attack’s aftermath, the Liberty managed to limp to a safe port.Israel later apologized for the attack and offered $6.9 million in compensation, claiming that it had mistaken the Liberty for an Egyptian ship. However, Liberty survivors, and some former U.S. officials, believe that the attack was deliberate, staged to conceal Israel’s pending seizure of Syria’s Golan Heights, which occurred the next day. The ship’s listening devices would likely have overheard Israeli military communications planning this controversial operation. Captain McGonagle was later awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his heroic command of the Liberty during and after the attack.
What conspiracy theories do you believe are actually true?
There are many more than I could list.
What are your thoughts on the Gabriel Fernandez case?
I’m absolutely heartbroken for this sweet child and what he went through during the last 8 months of his life. It’s particularly telling that just days before the night Gabriel was to be tortured, beat, and kicked to death by his Mom and her fiancé, he had been working on a school project for Mother’s Day where he wrote heartfelt messages about how much he loves his Mom and wants to make her happy by trying harder “to be good”.I am a fairly stoic individual when it comes to display of emotion, but the Gabriel Fernandez case — at least as I know it from the Netflix docu-series that I just watched, as well as some news articles I had read some time before — has evinced such sadness and compassion in my heart that I’m having a very difficult time containing the urge to cry — something I almost never do.So that is how the story impacted me, and I know these feelings are shared by millions of people in Los Angeles County and across the world. But what I want to address in my answer is the justice portion of the story and the verdict reached by the jury in the Capital Murder trial of Isauro Aguirre. Let me preface what I’m about to discuss by differentiating between explaining a person’s actions and excusing a person’s actions. Nothing can ever, nor will ever excuse what Pearl and Isauro did to Gabriel. Such horrific emotional and physical cruelty inflicted on an a child by his own mother and functional stepfather is so contrary to our core values and sense of what defines humane that it strains comprehension. And in the strongest terms I condemn Isauro for each and every act of emotional and physical torture he inflicted on Gabriel, irrespective of cause. And I think the prosecutor was justified using the terms ‘evil” and “monster” to apply to Isauro. The evidence presented at trial was powerful and overwhelming in establishing that Pearl and Isauro did these awful things to Gabriel and that they consistently lied to Sheriffs Deputies and Social Workers who responded to complaints called in by concerned family members, teachers, and others. There is a lot more to be said about these visits by authorities where they completely failed to corroborate what they were told by the mother. She always had a ready made explanation for why Gabriel had injuries and wasn’t attending school. What is striking is the number of calls made by Gabriels teacher who had asked Gabriel specifically what happened at home, and still the Social Worker, Stephanie Rodriguez and her direct Supervisor, Kevin Bom, failed to adequately follow up in their duty to ensure the well being of this child. They could have mandated a Doctor’s examination of the child, standard procedure in this type of situation, and the whole ugly truth would have been lain out for all to see and Gabriel would have been taken out of harm’s way. Instead, what they did was tantamount to leaving a child stranded in the middle of a busy road with cars and trucks speeding by and effectively tempting a fatal injury to snuff out the tenuous flame of his delicate physical existence. The amount of abuse Gabriel experienced during and after Stephanie Rodriguez’s handling of the case is just mind boggling. What are these County employees supposed to be doing if not ensuring the well being of the children on their watch? If there is suspected abuse by a parent or guardian, then obviously you don’t take what that person says at face value without verifying it. The level of mediocrity that seems to be standard practice in this particular Los Angeles County bureaucracy is simply untenable. If they had done the job they were trained and tasked to do Gabriel could have been freed from the jaws of Hell.So it was well established at trial that Gabriel had been murdered at the hands of Isauro and aided and abetted by Pearl Fernandez. The challenging question for the jury was deciding which type of murder proscribed by the Law applies to this case. The prosecution was asking for Murder in the 1st Degree which necessitates the element of premeditation. The defense argued for Murder in the 2nd Degree which is less severe and does not carry the penalty of death. And it is here that I find problems with how the jury arrived at their final decision. The degree of awfulness that the evidence in this case reveals about the actions of this defendant compels many to demand he face the most severe punishment our Criminal Justice system has to offer. It is a perfectly understandable emotional response and one that I share. But this is not how a jury is instructed to come to a decision in criminal court cases. They are given specific guidelines for how they should consider evidence, how they should reason when forming conclusions, and they are admonished by the Judge — both orally and in written instructions they have for reference in the jury room — to preclude their emotions from their mental process in deciding a verdict. Some might argue that it is unreasonable to ask jurors to leave their emotions parked at the door when they consider the evidence put before them. After all, the evidence came from a real life situation whereby their own experiences in real life come into play in their understanding of the story and events in which the crime occurred. And since emotions are a fundamental part of our very existence, this seems like too tall an order. And clearly in practice this is not what happens. But, the idea behind such an admonition is to emphasize the straightforwardness of the process the jury is expected to follow as they discuss the matter among just themselves, isolated from any outside input. They are asked to dispassionately consider all that has been said in the courtroom and presented as evidence, and to use their common sense to evaluate what is credible and true, and be able to explain their reasoning to other jurors. Now, who among us can say that he has critically examined his own process of reasoning for how he regards this, that, or the other thing. Certainly most of us have sacred cows where we think of some things in a certain way because it affirms things we want to believe and don’t wish to have outside scrutiny point out fallacies in our personal reasoning process. Humans are hard wired with all kinds of tendencies, not all of which work favorably for the individual nor the society he is in. So the jury process is meant to uncloak biases and beliefs we generally keep private that color our perceptions because we have to explain why we think what we do to the other 11 people whom we didn’t know before the jury service. And some of them may well find fault in your reasoning and point it out for the entire group to consider and comment. This can engender testy exchanges and resentment but I think the idea is that in spite of everything, the group eventually can wend its way to an agreement everyone is comfortable with.In the murder trial of Isauro Aguirre the question of premeditation became a sticking point with just one juror unwilling to vote with the others in convicting him of 1st degree murder. Educated and trained as a civil engineer, he is well acquainted with the folly of the normal reasoning process in most humans and how it can lead to disastrous mistakes. He rightly pointed out the questionable assumptions and leap of logic that must be made to conclude premeditation on the part of the defendant. The jury forewoman stated for the camera that the amount of time between forethought and commission of the murder was irrelevant. One second ahead of the event constituted premeditation. This just can’t be so. When someone kills another in a fit of rage, the defense can call for 2nd degree manslaughter on the grounds that the defendant’s better judgment is overridden by anger. Another juror echoed essentially the prosecution argument that the amount and severity of abuse that was done to Gabriel could only have one eventuality, that being death. The implication being that it was Isauro’s intention all along to kill Gabriel.I agree with the one juror who held back his vote. The events that culminated in Gabriel Fernandez’s death do not add up to premeditation. Without hesitation one can characterize these acts as monstrous, unconscionable, horribly inhumane, sadistically cruel…but where do they fit into premeditation? If you plan to murder a child whom you have ipso-facto guardianship over, who on earth is going to go about it by an escalating pattern of beatings, imprisonment and infliction of mental cruelty in the presence of siblings and a dozen or so close calls with Sheriffs deputies and Social Workers investigating suspected abuse? And when the final death blow is dealt by you, in your home, with no third party to accuse, how could you envision getting away with this? Isn’t getting away with it part and parcel to premeditating a criminal act?Even though Pearl was not a co-defendant in Isauro’s murder trial, all the evidence shows that she was fully aware of everything that happened to Gabriel, that she herself shot him with a BB gun, knocked out his teeth with a baseball bat, beat him with the metal part of a belt, punched him in the face with closed fist giving him a black eye; she was also in the bedroom where Isauro beat Gabriel to death and cleaned up the crime scene ahead of paramedics and sheriffs arriving. For all intents and purposes the two of them were equally complicit in Gabriel’s abuse that culminated with his death. So if the intention was not to murder Gabriel, then why did they do all these horrible things to him.The prosecution told us Isauro is the personification of evil. They characterized him as a sadistic monster who is undeterred by a normal human conscience and sense of compassion, whose cruelty knew no bounds in the abuse he inflicted on Gabriel. But then the defense put on its first witness. I could not have been more surprised by the testimony of this well-dressed woman who had a sort of unforced aristocratic air about her. She was the administrator of an upscale home for the elderly in Woodland Hills where Isauro had been employed for 3 years as a driver and caregiver. Everything we thought we knew about Isauro from the prosecution was completely turned upside down. This stately woman described in detail how Isauro was a kind and considerate caregiver in this community of the elderly, many of whom were infirmed and wore adult diapers. Isauro, in his capacity as a caregiver, was one who would perform the unpleasant task of changing dirty diapers when the need arose. She testified that Isauro was beloved by all the residents there and everyone wanted to be among those that he looked after. When he would drive a group for a getaway trip to a restaurant or museum, he would select a scenic route along the coast highway so these elderly people could have a more pleasant journey. She stated plainly that if he had had so much as the slightest hint of indifference or unkindness that there is no way he could have worked for her for the three years that he did.Her testimony went completely unscathed during cross examination. When asked her reaction to the crimes Isauro is charged, she seemed utterly baffled, unable to make any sense of it. Clearly this is a gash in the prosecution’s theory of pure evil. If Isauro was of that ilk, it surely would have become evident at some point during that 3 year span of time. There are such people who prey on the elderly, getting them to take out life insurance and naming this person as beneficiary who then suffocates them with a pillow; or showing a pattern of neglect and contempt for these helpless individuals. Nothing even remotely like that applied to Isauro. So what could drive this gentle giant to commit such heinous acts of cruelty?I don’t know how the timeline matches up between Isauro becoming involved with Pearl and his employment at the elderly home. But I’m venturing to guess that there is little overlap, if any. Furthermore, granted that the Netflix docu-series couldn’t cover every detail of the saga, we nonetheless never heard one kind thing said about Pearl from various family members. Neutral at best, testimony from family was centered mostly on concern for her kids. Her relationships with men were described as ruthless and manipulative. I think Pearl was the evil inside Isauro plain and simple, and I’ll explain how and why.In the vast hinterland of the inland empire, there are pockets of gang culture that exist in isolation from the general tenor of American society. Often ruthless and callous to the core, these people have a quite negative association with gayness in men. It’s not simple to comprehend, but it has similarities to the status of gays in prison. On one hand it is considered contemptuous and demeaning. On the other, transsexuals garner some respect for their feminine allure. But bottom line, if you are one of these gangster chics out there in the Antelope Valley, you don’t want to be known as having given birth to a boy who turns out to be gay. I don’t recall the exact details of how Pearl came to regain custody of Gabriel, but she had had custody of him for just 8 months before he died. We know that for several years of his childhood Gabriel was cared for by a Gay uncle and his partner. And that at a certain point, another relative thought this arrangement was improper and Gabriel then moved back with his grandparents, and at some point after that Pearl petitioned to get custody of Gabriel.Even though we could play connect the dots with Gabriel being raised by his Gay uncle and his fondness for playing with his sister’s dolls, I think most children of 8 have not yet formulated a sexuality. And I don’t think the uncle and partner set out to mold Gabriel into a pre-pubescent gay boy. I think the most we can glean from this is that Gabriel had a gentle demeanor that was not discouraged by his uncle. And from this Gabriel maybe didn’t know about the social stigma of a boy wanting to play with girl dolls. Unsurprisingly, Pearl was not okay with any of this. True or not, she perceived Gabriel as exhibiting Gay tendencies and she figured she could just beat it out of him. Out of love? Hardly. Custody of Gabriel translated into $800 a month in free money from the County of Los Angeles. She’s just a disgusting cruel person who was deeply embarrassed about her son being gay. And with Aguirre, she had a guy she could control and manipulate because he felt she was out of his league and he was all too willing to please her. There were also some strange text messages between the two that suggested that punishing Gabriel functioned as an aphrodisiac for their intimacy.Aguirre told Police that on the night he killed Gabriel, Pearl had told him Gabriel said he wanted his mom to leave Isauro. She had made that claim other times before that. Frankly it doesn’t sound like something Gabriel would say. But it does sound like something Pearl would make up in order to rile Isauro’s anger. I think that she operates on base instincts and from this standpoint has Isauro in her clutches. Every blow to Gabriel’s head and body executed by Isauro was effectively her fists and feet beating and kicking him. Nothing excuses Isauro falling into this mode of behavior. That he even did it once is outrageous. But, I agree with the one juror who had the courage to follow the jury instructions and make his decision based on reason. I don’t necessarily blame the prosecution for over prosecuting. In our adversarial court system the prosecution is expected to come on strong. That’s why we have a jury of 12 ordinary people who make the final decision taking into account both sides. Calling Gabriel’s murder premeditated was a stretch from the get-go. It just doesn’t make sense that if they wanted to kill him they would do it like that. Together, Pearl and Isauro were heartless, violent abusers, but I think killing Gabriel was an accident.
