PDF Editor FAQ

Why does some of the world not recognize the United States as the "good guys" in most situations, when they have been consistently trying to spread democracy around the world?

Democracy? America? Are you serious? Ha! Don't make me laugh.A democracy is a country that allows everyone who is a citizen to vote, then acts on the result (theoretically).Everyone, and I mean everyone, of voting age gets to go to the polls. In my country, you get fined if you don't.Now, let me count the way America isn't a democracy.Doesn't allow people who have a criminal record to vote. Considering that a disproportionate number of people who have a criminal record in America are black, that is a massive blow to the integration of policies that affect black people and reforming the incarceration system. Why would you work for making the lives of ex-felons better? You're not going to lose any votes by upholding the status quo but you're definitely going to lose them by fixing the ridiculous criminal justice system you've got going there. I'm not saying that Australia's justice system is great either, but at least the people who have been in jail have a say in our democracy. It is well within the interests of our politicians to ensure that criminals are at least treated as people. In some states it is downright impossible to be able to vote if you are poor, uneducated, unable to travel or disabled due to voter suppression laws. Laws requiring you to prove who you are are onerous to the point of needing to take days off work, travel hours to get obscure documents that you haven't needed in years only to find out that because it wasn't printed on a particular type of paper your application was denied. Other examples are denial of same-day voter registration (you turned 18 the day before), closing of ballot boxes so you have to wait hours to have your say, prohibitively high costs to update drivers’ licenses (if you are earning $200 a week and you need to pay $35 to update your licence in 24 hours, that's not easy), a lack of current photo ID (very common amongst people who are poor, don't drive and look over the age of 35), disallowing student ID (which needs proof of identity to obtain)… my god, I could go on. The GOP’s Attack on Voting Rights Was the Most Under-Covered Story of 2016And it's not just non-white poor people that can't vote. Trans people have had huge problems with voting because they can't vote if their gender identity mismatches with their gender on their ID. Some states won't allow trans people to change their legal gender without reassignment surgery, which can cost thousands of dollars. Good luck getting that on a minimum wage job. Voter Suppression is an LGBT Rights Issue – Just Ask AsherWhat if you are sick or disabled? Well, if you have a guardian in the wrong state, you have no right to vote. Disabled And Fighting For The Right To Vote. Have cancer and you barely have enough time to think about how you're going to pay for your next meal due to the insanity of America's health non-system let alone the aforementioned loopholes you need to go through to get your vote registered. Yeah, you're not going to vote. Mentally ill? You could lose the right to vote and then have to go through the rigamarole to get it back. Check out the paragraph titled “Voting Rights Act” in the following link. Rights for People With Mental Illness. Try doing that while in a suicidal or schizophrenic state. In Australia, people who have dementia that has developed enough to necessitate being in a nursing home are encouraged to vote. Yes, people who can't remember the names of people that they see 5 days a week can still vote. One word: gerrymanderingTwo words: Electoral CollegeObviously, as an Australian, I am not 100% sure about the ins and outs of the American voting system but even I can see that in no way, shape or form is America a democracy. In fact, it's sliding very rapidly into a dictatorship. If you, OP, want America to bring democracy to the world, why don't you start bringing it to America first?Edit:Yes, I know that America isn't a democracy but more of a democratic republic. However, the original question was about democracy, which is why I targeted it from a democratic angle. Please stop telling me that I have no idea what I'm talking about. Also, anyone who tells me that I'm an uneducated American will have their comment deleted. If you can't be bothered to read my comment, you cannot be capable to eloquently argue against it.

Which version of "The Office" is better, the UK or the U.S.?

Unless you are a diehard fan of Ricky Gervais or Martin Freeman, you will definitely find The Office US to be much better than The Office UK (Despite of The Office UK being the original version)There is only one reason which explains this, which is “Character Transformation”.Each and every character goes through numerous phases and you can clearly see the stark difference between their versions in the earlier seasons and the final seasons.Michael ScottWho would have thought that highly self-obsessed, idiotic jerk we all hated in the first season will turn into such a lovable boss that we all cried on his departure. The Office was never same again.2. Dwight SchruteDwight Schrute in earlier seasons was an excruciatingly competitive co-worker to Jim, a total bootlicker to Michael and an overall pain in the *** for rest of the staff. His transformation went from being a jerk to caring boyfriend to a womaniser, and finally to an absolute supportive friend to Jim and Pam.3. Phyllis Vance (née Lapin)Phyllis was a quite character who was a constant victim of Michael and Angela’s arrogance. I loved how she gradually turned sassy and gave it back to Angela and Michael in later seasons. Apart from this she showed her master salesmanship in the episode “Traveling Salesmen” (S03 E13) Also she found the love of her life in Bob Vance – Vance Refrigeration. (So Yeah, Curvy women can have a Fairy Tale too)4. Meredith PalmerHonestly, I didn’t cared about her character which was mostly horny and alcoholic. But boy did she gave some hilarious gags with the bat episode, the lice episode in which she totally rocked the bald look. Also in the final season she expresses about how it was never shown that she received her Ph.D. in School Psychology during the first seven years, citing alcohol was just an escape from “College Life”. Who Knew?5. Pam BeesleyOnce upon a time Pam was just Roy Anderson’s fiancée. That’s it. I like how self-realization struck her and she started chasing her dreams- marrying the love of her life, pursuing art school, trying hand at Sales, etc. Also she turned from wallflower to a pretty woman.6. Erin (Kelly) HannonAt first look you will find nothing extra ordinary about Erin. She is a typical girl-next-door. But as show progresses, you see she has had a really tough life- being abandoned at birth, constantly changing foster homes, basic lack of real love in her life. Despite every hardship she has faced, she is amazingly optimistic about life and oh-so sweet to everyone. (Totally unrelated- watch Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, you will never regret it)She is the unacknowledged character no one talks about.7. Andy Bernard.Let’s accept this, no one liked Andy when he was introduced. He was more annoying version of Dwight. But quite honestly, over the few progressing seasons, he did became likable; especially his chemistry with Erin. But alas, the makers had something else written for this cute as a button a**hole. He became a literal cry for help in his final episodes.(Also read Apoorva Kulshrestha's answer to Why did the Office become so much worse after Steve Carell left? )8. Kevin MaloneYes, Kevin Malone. The overweight, dim witted accountant who was apparently very forgettable. The thing with the show is that it gave everyone a platform in which they totally steal the scene. Be it Meredith, Kelly (This day is Bananas- B-A-N-A-N-A-S) or even Kevin. In Season 9 Ep 14, Senator invites Oscar to his and Angela’s son’s birthday party, much to Angela’s discomfort. In the party both Angela and Oscar realize that Senator is using them to project his family man’s image (using Angela) and that he is immigrant friendly (using Oscar). The shining moment comes when the party ends, Kevin thanks Angela and Robert for the food, but tells Robert that he is a terrible person for using his friends to gain political support. Burrnn..!

What do you think of Obama's criticism of "woke culture"?

I think that he wasted his time. When you have to explain the obvious to someone, it means that the person is not smart enough to understand the explanation anyway. For example, a large portion of the Far Left believe in a silly conspiracy theory. The conspiracy theory says that they are under diabolical attack from a mysterious and powerful secret army called “The White Patriarchy.”The beauty of this conspiracy theory is that:Like all conspiracy theories, it requires no proof. Just accusation and speculation. It can be applied to ANY situation. It’s emotionally satisfying to think of yourself as a oppressed victim or a courageous crusader.Being attacked by other people gives you the moral license to “defend” yourself by being tribal and violent and malicious. As a fine example, there is a bakery near the uber-lefty Oberlin College. A bakery employee caught a black student shoplifting and minor scuffle ensued. The black student was arrested, admitted his guilt and apologized. End of story. But that wasn’t good enough for the COURAGEOUS SOCIAL JUSTICE CRUSADERS in charge of Oberlin College. They flew into COURAGEOUS ACTION and began a full scale attempt to get SOCIAL JUSTICE by making the bakery to go out of business. Here they are in action. Those brave college students are just like the 1960s freedom riders who faced police dogs and fire hoses! Only in this case, they face bakery employees and some baked goods. So courageous! The college administration jinned up its army of social justice crusader students, who rioted and picketed the bakery and harassed the owners and employees. They even went to the owner’s and employee’s homes and harassed them. The bakery sued Oberlin College and won an $11 million defamation settlement. Oh well. Looks like White Patriarchy won again. Nice try, courageous administrators and social justice warriors of Oberlin College. If you explained to these administrators and students that they were wrong, do you think they would understand?Do you think that Oberlin College fired the dean of students (Meredith Raimondo) who called the bakery a "racist establishment" and handed out flyers? NOPE. She’s still in her job, “educating” the students about how everything they don’t like is a conspiracy by a phantom army of white male heterosexual oppressors.Meredith Raimondo | Oberlin College and ConservatoryOne of the college’s professors was critical of how the college was treating the bakery, and the Dean Meredith went into thug mode and discussed “unleashing the students” on him.Do you think Obama’s words about the malicious, mindless thuggery of woke culture made any impact on her, considering that she is a malicious, mindless thug?Kathy Griffith, the comedian, posted a picture of her chopping off Donald Trump’s head in a manner similar to how terrorists like ISIS do it. There was a massive outcry about the picture, because the picture is very unpleasant and tasteless. The above is a censored picture, you can find the real one if you like:kathy griffin trump headSo Kathy then gave a truly bizarre press conference where she said she was being oppressed by a right wing hate mob and that she has done battle all her life against a mysterious conspiracy by old white men to silence her brave brave brave voice. As a fascist oppressor, I will now attempt to silence Kathy by presenting her whole speech to you. It’s worth a look, it’s kind of hilarious:Kathy Griffin Holds Press Conference To Explain Her Decapitated Trump PhotoKathy broke down into tears and blamed Donald Trump for her problems with the public. “He broke me,” she said. When the furor and screeching over the photo faded, she went on the public relations circuit and described herself as a brave brave brave warrior against right-wing hate mobs and how she did mighty battle with Donald Trump himself.Kathy Griffin on Surviving Donald Trump, Confronting Leslie Moonves and Her SXSW Concert MovieA few years later, the internet erupted with a picture of a high school student wearing a MAGA hat and smirking at an old native american guy.It turns out that the old guy was verbally harassing the student and the student was merely responding with a smile, trying to face him down. What was Kathy Griffith’s reaction to the photo, that brave brave brave crusader? She urged a left wing hate mob to attack the high school kids and ruin their lives.Do you really think that Obama’s words will have any effect on a person like Kathy? Do you see any inconsistency or irony in her behavior? Please don’t think of this answer as a complaint. It’s the exact opposite. This answer is a tearful thank-you to the radical Left, complete with a moving 1980s style slow clap that builds to thunderous, inspiring applause. As a devout, mad-dog anti-Communist, I’m very pleased with The Woke Left. These Mighty Crusaders come up with better stuff to make the Left look bad than anything I could think up.Cuomo is working on a book called, “How to Win Elections By Making A Lot of People Hate You.”Like these enlightened intellectuals stopping a speech by an ordinary conservative pundit and crying out desperately for “safety.” Is that so wrong, just wanting a little safety from the dastardly form of oppression known as “free speech?”Obama is the one complaining about it, not me. Bill Maher, super liberal, is complaining about it too. This is a great speech:Your brave comments are welcome.By commenting in my thread, you are one of the very few people who has the nobility and courage to do battle against the patriarchy and their bakery stormtroopers.
