PDF Editor FAQ

Is Matthew Bates a good teacher?

Yep.I attended (actually half-attended) his class on English Writing. It was great. It was helpful. I like his calm teaching style (if that means something). And he is very knowledgeable in English (Duh! he is an English teacher).Edit: I revisited this answer and fixed some awkwardly written sentences. This is something Mr. Bates would have fixed in our class.

Which are the top ten most upvoted content on Quora?

So far, 68. From my answer to “Have you ever seen a student get roasted by a teacher?”Edit: New record. 75. Thank you all. That bus driver has since retired. She was one of the most engaging bus drivers I've ridden with.

What are the biggest facepalm moments, i.e. hearing something extremely ridiculous, teachers have experienced?

I was once a high school teacher. One of the Teacher Editions had gone missing, and we were trying to locate the book. We would sometimes exchange notebooks in my math class to correct homework assignments together. The four students who were using the Teacher Edition were pretty obvious when other students asked me if “Answers will vary” was an acceptable response to some of the problems.Another moment was with high school students but not in the classroom. I was teaching in a very small rural town in the Midwest, and there were not many activities for teens to do. A group of kids were walking down the street and saw that someone had just poured a new driveway for a local business. They decided it would be fun to make marks and write in the wet cement. They basically signed their vandalism. No trouble identifying the guilty parties. Finally, as a high school Spanish teacher, I had my students do a project that was supposed to include a poster or a flyer to present information on the topic they had chosen. It shows the perils of poor spelling and bad translation. I could not figure out what my student meant by “Postres del Sahara”. I was looking for recipe, since “postre” is a word for dessert, but he meant to translate desert. I literally saw another teacher do the facepalm when I explained to her about the project as well. =-P
