If his student was right there on Grievous’ ship, with him and Obi-Wan, and Obi-Wan were knocked out, he wouldn’t have listened to Palpatine. If he had listened to Palpatine, Ahsoka would have told Obi-Wan what happened, and the Jedi would be seriously concerned.With Ahsoka on Coruscant, Palpatine would have not been able to get very much alone time with Anakin in the first place to manipulate him. Come to think of it, Anakin and Padmé would have probably not even had the time to get reproductive if Ahsoka were there. She knew Anakin and Padmé had a secret relationship, but with her there, I suspect it would have been less intimate.With a living Dooku captured, Padmé not pregnant, and Anakin and Ahsoka on Coruscant, Padmé actively opposing Palpatine in the Senate instead of being pregnant, the whole story could not have unfolded the way it did.Perhaps Palpatine could have tried carrying out Order 66 with Dooku’s help, but Palpatine could not have carried on the Rule of Two following Dooku’s plan outlined in the Episode III novelisation and without someone on the inside to help him kill Jedi, it would have been just the Clones and a few Republic Navy people like Tarkin against the Jedi on Coruscant, with Anakin and Ahsoka fighting on the Jedi side.Without Palpatine trying to reveal to Anakin the nature of the Dark Side, Anakin would never have told Mace Windu that Palpatine is the Sith they were looking for. Without that arrest Palpatine could not have claimed the Jedi tried to assassinate him.The Jedi probably would have held out against the Republic forces in the Temple for days, all the while Clones would be figuring out it was their inhibitor chips making them do this, the Separatists would have been resurging on the edges of the Republic gaining ground. Many Republic security forces and Judiciaries loyal to the Jedi would have defected and joined the Jedi in the Temple—some of the fleet over Coruscant might have even defected.With a long fight happening on Coruscant, Senators opposed to Palpatine like Bail Organa and Padmé probably would have swayed the Senate to order a ceasefire with the Jedi and accept the previously-rejected ceasefire with the Separatists, and at the this point Palaptine’s plan would be irreparably damaged.While it would take days for the evidence the Jedi gathered on Dooku’s involvement in creating the Clone Army to be explained, the Senate would surely not allow a long conflict to happen on the streets of Coruscant.We know from the Clone Wars episode The Lost One that the Jedi figured out Dooku was behind the creation of the Clone Army. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that, therefore, Dooku is responsible for the programming of the inhibitor chips that make the Clones follow Palpatine’s Orders and kill Jedi.It would be obvious that Dooku and Palpatine were in cahoots. Many Jedi and Clones would be dead, parts of Coruscant would be wreckage, Jedi generals across the Galaxy just got slain with leaderless Clones now being massacred by a resurgent Separatist force—without Anakin on Mustafar the Separatist high council would still be controlling the droid armies, and they would likely be able to coordinate with civilian forces loyal to the Separatist Senate.Over time, all of the blame would be pointed straight back at Palpatine, Dooku, and the Kaminoans, with Admiral Tarkin perhaps taking some blame too (he intentionally tried getting Ahsoka executed on trumped up Treason charges a year before Episode III, and in the book Tarkin, he was one of Palpatine’s people through and through in the Judiciary Corps even before the Clone Wars started).I imagine Palpatine and Dooku would have successfully fled in this chaos before the Senate and the Jedi cracked down on them, probably with the help of Admiral Tarkin.Mas Amedda probably would have been arrested, and no doubt, testified against Palpatine to save himself from Treason charges.Raids on the Senate communication logs would reveal regular contact between Palpatine and Dooku, and the Separatists would no doubt launch their own internal investigation revealing regular communication between Count Dooku and the Kaminoans!After a ceasefire is declared with the Separatists, the Republic and Separatists would certainly dispatch a force to Kamino to arrest the treasonous Kaminoan leaders who went along with this.The Separatists and Republic would probably then have a long, but relatively peaceful, Cold War between them until one of the governments went bankrupt. Meanwhile Palaptine and Dooku would be doing who knows what on some deserted rock, slaying bounty hunter after bounty hunter trying to collect their billion credit bounty.
