PDF Editor FAQ

Why do American baking instructions call for "Kosher Salt" when the rest of the world just calls for "salt"?

Kosher salt is a kind of coarse-grained salt. It is called “kosher salt” in the US because it is used by religious Jews as part of the koshering process. All pure salt is Kosher but the kind of salt sold as “kosher salt” is not actually intended for eating.Coarse salt is used to draw the blood out of meat. The bloody salt is then washed off before cooking the meat. That is how Kosher salt is used by Jews. However, many chefs discovered that this coarser salt was good in certain dishes and started using it in cooking. Why do recipes specify “kosher salt”? Well, because of the coarseness of the grains, a tablespoon of Kosher salt is very different from a tablespoon of table salt and if you just switch one for the other, your food is going to be much saltier than you wanted.

Is kangaroo meat kosher, and can it be consumed legally in Australia?

Nope. While Kosher meat generally depends on how the animal is killed with the prayer to consecrate the meat, there are still some animals that won’t be allowed to ever be Kosher. Pig for example is one. kangaroos, koalas, possums, opossums, wombats and Tasmanian devils are others that falls in the “do not eat category.(from Chabad[1] )And here’s why:“They don’t chew their cud and have split hooves, as kosher mammals must (see Leviticus 11).”[2]Too bad. Kangaroo is actually quite tasty.Footnotes[1] Is Kangaroo Kosher?[2] Is Kangaroo Kosher?

Why does God not want Jews to eat pork?

No actual rule says “Don’t eat pork”. Surprise!(Which part is the pork? And where’s the bacon?)The rule is, Jews who keep kosher can eat any land animal that chews its cud and has split hooves. This includes cows, sheep, goats, deer, and some others.(These cuties are kosher)If a land animal does not chew its cud and have split hooves, it’s not kosher. This includes horses, squirrels, and dogs - all of which are delicacies in one place or another. Do you eat any of these animals? There are three animals that seem to chew their cud but don’t have split hooves, so Jews who keep kosher don’t eat them. This includes rabbits and hares, which are also a delicacy in some places. Also, camels. Does anyone eat camels?(These cuties are not kosher)Pigs are singled out as the only animal to have the outer Kosher token - split hooves - but not the inner token - chewing its cud.(look at me! I’m totally kosher!)Pigs are not, however, singled out as the only animal that is not Kosher for Jews to eat. Pork is not singled out as The Bad Food. Guess what? Not bacon, either. Why are there So Many Questions about Jews eating pigs? Where are all the people asking why Jews don’t eat dog or rabbit? Can all the people asking pig questions go join them? Thanks.

The software has a lot of great features. One of my favorites, for instance, is how easy it is to correct an error. For instance, if I forget to attach a document, I can go back and attach it without having to start all over again with the set up process. Same thing can be said if I need to add a recipient. I can go back and correct the setup and the recipient, determine if they will receive a copy of the document or will be signing. I will then at the moment, just click "re-send" and be done with it. After the recipient views and/or sign the document, I will get a notification. Another feature I like, is the fact that you do not need to upload documents. You can drag and drop it. You can also send bulk envelopes and share envelopes between CocoDoc users. With CocoDoc, you can also get a history of your transaction, which is great. It shows when the envelope was created, sent, viewed, completed, re-sent, corrected and more.
