Online I 765: Fill & Download for Free

Note:: This is not a legal advice, Just sharing my experience.I did, I got my EAD on time, just be perfect..!! I-765, I-983, new i-20, photocopy of your previous receipt.before sending them the request, I also read lot of articles online and got really worried and tensed, but decided to take a risk but in a very professional manner.while sending it to USCIS, I mailed them to the potomac center which previously received my application(mentioned below on the receipt). Wrote a cover letter explaining details of previous employer, wrote details of new employer and request to change the employer to the new one.Wrote an index of all the documents attached, mentioned sequential order of the documents attached.Steps I followed while doing this:1. Submit new offer letter to DSO.2. Get new i-20 from university.3. Photocopy and sign the new i-20.4. Get the i-983 filled from new employer.5. Fill up new i-765.6. Write a cover letter requesting change in employer7. Write an index of all attached documents (Write in bold on the top ‘Request for change in Employer for receipt no: xxxxxxxx’ Highlight this with a highlighter).8. Photocopy of the previous receipt you received.9. Send the package to potomac center from where you received the receipt.10. Nope it doesn’t. However, every time you move, it is required that you fill out an AR-11 form so that USCIS has your most current address. You can easily do this online here: Alien’s Change of Address Card.*I am not an attorney. Please do not misconstrue the above as legal advice.*

OPT Processing Time- 2019EAD card for OPT processing times have drastically increased in 2019 compared to previous years. The new normal is a minimum of 120 days. 2 items will be mailed to you from USCIS once your processing is complete:a) I-797 Approval notice b) EAD cardOut of these 2 documents, EAD is the one that lets you start working. After USCIS approves your form I-765, which is OPT employment authorization, they will send an official notice which is I-797, usually referred to as Approval notice. You cannot start working with that form. You need the physical EAD card to start working.Here is my time line for the OPT Processing:March 28: Mailed the complete application Form I-765 via FedExApril 4: USCIS received the form, Receipt notice mailed to address on April 11 with a Receipt number, with which you can check your Case Status OnlineJuly 19: Card is in ProductionJuly 22: Approved your Form I-765, Approval notice will be mailed.July 24: Card was mailedJul 25: Approval notice received in mailboxJuly 27: Received the card in the mailbox! Finally!!!Few pointers which could be useful if you are applying for OPT EAD:Apply as soon as the application window for OPT opensMail your documents to USCIS in fast delivery services available at FedEx, even if it might be more expensive, it is worth the moneyCreate an account in USCIS to get regular updatesChanging mailing address in between can cause delays in your applicationMany of my friends status hasn’t changed yet from the initial receipt notice, don’t panic, its just longer processing times, so plan accordinglyFinally good luck with your new job and hope you can start soon !
