There are about 100 countries that require, one way or the other, a visa for an American Citizen to travel to. It might seem like we have a lot of freedom because we are closely allied with the EU and that compromises a lot of countries that a lot of American's travel to.There are some countries that do an ETA (an electronic visa process) such as Australia or Sri Lanka, and others that can get a visa upon arrival (Egypt can do this, but that will change in May).This is what I do for a living (when I am not writing or getting my novels ready for publishing). I am telling you that if you forgot to put a zip code on the application for the visa (which in itself is pure frustration to complete) you will have to remake the application from scratch and reship it. 85% of people who apply for an India Visa at one time or another have to make their application more than once. If you are interested in traveling to India, I can give you one piece of advice - DONT. But if you REALLY want to then use a service like mine that helps you through it and be patient and give yourself a few weeks to a month to be safe and TAKE YOUR TIME! (okay rant over)3) Russia - believe it or not - SERIOUSLY popular. I do many Russian Visas every day. And while the application is long and a bit challenging, for a service like mine it is actually a very easy process. It is a bit slow, but we can rush them in about 2 days if you don't mind the cost.4) Brazil - did I say India is a trainwreck? I'm sorry I meant this cluster-f$#k of a country. Right now if you are in New York or any of its neighboring states, good luck getting a visa in only a month. Miami? San Fran? Even longer. Brazil is broken. Frankly, considering they are hosting the olympics next year, I am VERY surprised this is not more of a news story. Even the worse countries that we need a visa for (I would say India and Brazil) are not as Challenging as getting a visa to come here.Rule of thumb is if you need a visa, use a service.
