This is commonly used to supplement CO2 for plants in aquariums and small greenhouses.Last but certainly not least, you can make it in the lab chemically.Baking soda and vinegar works for this reaction, but it its fast, messy, and foams a lot. A much more controlled reaction is from marble (stone) chips and sulfuric acid.CaCO3 + H2SO4 = CaSO4 + H2O + CO2A long time ago a clever fellow invented a device called the Kipp's apparatus - Wikipedia that performs this and other gas generation reactions in a controlled manner.Here’s a video about how they work from the University of Nottingham.Those aren’t cheap, but they work great. If you can’t afford one, go for it.Note that the gas that comes out of these generators usually has water vapor mixed in it, so if you need dry CO2 you’ll have to pass it through a tube loaded with a dessicant.
