One can find a lot more information about their foundation here. Our history | www.vicenteferrer.orgThey have started a foundation RDT (Rural Development Trust) in 1969 at Anantapur and are still working till date. People who do not belong to our country, but migrating to such a place as this, and working since 4+ decades, really commendable effort. It is better to read in the website about them than to write in this response.
Are military pilots trained to fly several types of planes/jets? Or do they stick with one?
They are trained in and assigned to only one type of aircraft for a specific time period. For Naval Aviators, that is usually a 2.5 year tour within a particular aircraft squadron. After that period they may continue on to fly the same model aircraft elsewhere, perhaps as an instructor for another 2.5 years. Or they can choose or be assigned to a different model aircraft depending upon the needs of the Navy.In my instance, my first squadron was an F-4 squadron and there I could only fly the F-4. When I rotated to shore duty flying RDT&E, I was checked out in three different models of aircraft (F-4, A-4, and T-2) at the same time. I also could fly as copilot in others. When I rotated back to sea duty and an F-14 squadron, there I was only allowed to fly the F-14.
Can a military pilot fly multiple aircraft? If trained on say the F-16, hypothetically, could you fly other single engine aircraft?
No, once trained in a particular aircraft and assigned to a particular squadron, a pilot will not and cannot fly any other aircraft (except in very rare circumstances, or when ordered and transferred to another squadron, and totally retrained.)I was one of a very lucky small sample of a Naval Aviator who was allowed and trained in more than one aircraft at a time. I was an F-4 pilot at the time, getting orders to an RDT&E facility, where I needed to fly more than one aircraft. So before I transferred there, I had to go for a few weeks of temporary training in Meridian MS. for the T-2, and to Kingsville for training in the A-4. Therefore, I was legal to fly all three aircraft. I also flew other aircraft there too, but I needed a co-pilot to legally fly them. For a pilot who loved to fly, I was like a kid in a candy store.
