What law seems like it was written by a troll?

There is an actual U.S. policy that does the following:Banana or light chocolate skin colored people get severely handicapped.Dark chocolate skin toned people get significantly boosted.Greek yogurt colored people aren’t affected.Like, what kind of a law is that?Pfft…Handicapping or boosting people by the color of their skin….Oh wait….It’s the Affirmative Action!#Mind_BlownAffirmative action in the United States - WikipediaA 2005 study by Princeton sociologists Thomas J. Espenshade and Chang Y. Chung compared the effects of affirmative action on racial and special groups at three highly selective private research universities. The data from the study represent admissions disadvantage and advantage in terms of SAT points (on the old 1600-point scale):Whites (non-recruited athlete/non-legacy status): 0 (control group)Blacks: +230Hispanics: +185Asians: –50Recruited athletes: +200Legacies (children of alumni): +160

Is Harvard still the best university in the world?

No, not at all.For one principal reason. Because Harvard University isn’t, and doesn’t even aspire to be, a meritocracy.Harvard University openly gives preference to children of legacy students and donors - i.e. if your daddy went to Harvard or gives a fat donation, you get preference. This is from wikipedia…“Because rankings by U.S. News & World Report and other media take into account only the SAT scores and high school grades of entering freshmen, a college can accept poor achieving legacies as transfer students without hurting its standing. Harvard caters to the children of well-connected alumni and big donors through the "Z-list". Z-listers are often guaranteed admittance while in high school but obliged to take a year off between high school and attending Harvard, doing whatever they wish in the interim.”Further, and it’s about time, Harvard is being sued for discriminating against Asians, which, having looked at the evidence, I believe it clearly does - Harvard Admissions-Bias Case Draws Nearer to a Supreme Court Review. How can a university this corrupt possibly be the best university in the world?

What are the common signs of likely admissions to Princeton?

I’ve been a Princeton alumni interviewer for a long time. We never know what amazing high school students will be accepted or rejected. Sanford’s answer was correct — the coaches each have a certain amount of students they can admit without going through the full formal review by the admissions committee. The last time I interviewed people, there were the equivalent of 7 full classes of fully qualified applicants: They all had the grades, extracurricular activities, and great interviews. I’ve also interviewed children of alumni where one gets in and the other doesn’t. Or neither. One alum I knew gave several million dollars and his children weren’t admitted. Unfortunately, you won’t know anything, for sure, until the letter arrives. I think this is true for all colleges now. It’s best to apply to several tiers of schools or have a backup plan for a gap year.
