Reception Dinner: Fill & Download for Free

Hello!Extremely tired! Also super drunk, so needless to say that Roland Junior didn’t report for duty that night! It didn’t matter though since my wife still gave and blessed me with 4 children, three girls and the youngest a son.Our wedding was on the beach, in Malibu and afterwards we had our reception, dinner and party at the Beverly Hills Hotel for 45 guests. It was a memorable night especially since my newlywed wife ended up sleeping on the couch because she said and I quote, “Didn’t wanna lay in bed next to a chainsaw…” I guess excessive alcohol consumption comes with a price.Having said that, we’ve been married for 25 years now since last August and our marriage couldn’t be better or stronger.Turned out we both made the correct choice!

This wasn’t something I saw; it was related to me by my daughter, the culprit.My daughter lived in England for six months with her then boyfriend, who came from a very well-off family. During that time one of said boyfriend’s best buds invited them to his wedding, a very posh affair in a famous London church followed by a procession to the Guildhall for the reception dinner. Needless to say, my kid’s upbringing did not prepare her for this kind of shindig, but she modeled the behavior of others and was pulling it off rather well. Up to a point.At the reception the tables held a variety of hors d’oeuvres, and by this time everyone had built quite an appetite. Daughter carefully selected a few small pieces of cheese and put the first one into her mouth—only to realize it was a pat of butter. She kept a straight face as she chewed and swallowed and thought she’d pulled it off when the lady next to her leaned over and asked, “What kind of cheese was that? I’ve been looking at it but haven’t tried it.”

My co worker held his reception at Buca, an Italian restaurant. The invitation stated, Italian food, family style, Italian desserts, and drinks. When a person reads that, you think a lot of food, right?We were all seated at long tables of probably 20–30 people a table. I’m thinking this is going to be the best meal ever because look at how they have us seated, the passing of pasta, and other dishes will be endless! Then the waiter came out. He had one plate. It had 5 string beans on it, a dollop of mashed potatoes and 1, yes, 1 tiny slice of roast beef. I saw the beans and there really were only 5. I’m not kidding. A bunch of us thought it must be a special meal prepared for someone with dietary restrictions. Nope. That plate was for half the table. There was another waiter at the other end, she laid down the same small size plate with the exact same 5 beans, tiny sliced piece of beef, and 1 dollop of mashed potato, and that was for the other half of the table. I couldn’t believe my eyes! I was so disappointed and pissed because the nimrods at the ends of the table ate the food on the plates and didn’t share. My coworker said at work a few days later,”It was supposed to be a family style Italian dinner where you take a bite and pass the plate on to the next person.” Ok fine, but where’s the fucking food then for 75 people?? 5 freaking string beans, a dollop of mashed potatoes and a joke of a piece of meat are not going to satiate any adult. And did you think maybe people should have been told to take a bite and pass the plate?? Because that’s not normal wedding reception dinner protocol to take a bite and pass the plate. Do you think we even got a bite of dessert? ? Hell no! I remember looking longingly down the table to a woman I knew as she had the plate of food in her hands. She looked at me, took some food and passed it down my direction. Didn’t matter as it never made it to the middle of the table where I was seated. I left, went home and ordered a medium pizza. I was looking forward to that too, but karma had other plans. The pizza arrived late, was barely lukewarm and had zero flavor.Note: never go to Buca di Beppo in Minnesota for a wedding reception dinner, and never order Papa John’s pizza.
