What are some strange but true crimes in American history?

Certainly one of the more unusual was the murder of Mike Malloy. Malloy has been called by crime historians and newspapers at the time of his death: “Iron Mike” (years before Mike Tyson!) “The Indestructible Mike Malloy,” “Mike the Durable” and many other names.Mike Malloy, 1872–1933 had at one time been a NYC firefighter, but was at the time of his death suffering from alcoholism and was homeless. He drew the attention of a murder for insurance ring. The murder ring was headed by Tony Marino (pictured on the right.) Marino owned a skid row speakeasy bar in the Bronx, and was assisted in his crimes by his bartender, Joe Murphy, and two others, Dan Kriesberg, and Frank Pasqua (pictured on the left.)This was Marino’s speakeasy.Marino began his crime ring in 1931. In that year, a young, pretty, blonde, homeless alcoholic, Betty Carlson was roaming the streets when Marino invited her into his bar. Carlson was used to men offering her kindness in return for sexual favors, but was pleasantly surprised that Marino didn’t ask for much. He bought her a meal, gave her free drinks, and even paid for a room for her to stay. Betty was so grateful that she happily did the only thing that Marino asked. She signed a petition that would let him run for public office.A few nights later on one of the coldest nights of the year. Betty passed out on free drinks and the men took her to her room. They stripped her, poured a bucket of cold water on her, and left the window wide open. She died in the night, and no one questioned the death of someone drunk in a flophouse. What Betty actually signed was an insurance policy and Marino collected $800.00 on the death. A nice sum for the Depression, but not enough for there to be too many questions. The ring bided their time for a few months then did the same thing to another street person, Maybelle Carlson. In late 1932, they sat their eyes on Mike Malloy. Up until that point when he wandered into Marino’s bar to beg for drinks, Marino or Murphy would throw him out, sometimes roughly. But one day they invited Mike in and gave him drinks for free. They even told him that they didn’t want him finding an alley to sleep and they gave him a cot in the backroom of the bar. Mike was thrilled, they asked him if he thought it was a good idea for Marino to run for office-”You bet!!!!” Malloy happily signed the papers. The ring was getting bolder. They took a $3500.00 double indemnity insurance policy on Mike, but decided they would arrange the murder so that they would only collect the regular amount of $1750.00.Noticing that Malloy was an exceptionally heavy drinker, they began to offer him gigantic amounts of liquor assuming that he’d expire from alcohol poisoning. Actually he just became happier and friendlier the more he drank. After a few days Marino did his books and realized that the free drinks amounted to a considerable sum, so he decided to try something different. After getting Mike drunk, they asked him to try a new drink that they were thinking of carrying in the bar. “It was extra smooth!” Malloy drank down the entire bottle and told them it would be a great addition to the menu. Actually the drink was laced with antifreeze. Mike collapsed and they carried him to an alley and left him to die. About an hour later Mike came back, beaming and asked for more of that new drink. For several nights they gave him the new drink with more and more antifreeze. In desperation they switched to turpentine. Finally they added horse liniment, and after that failed, liniment with a small dose of rat poison.Frustrated, they finally decided to offer him food. One night they gave him raw oysters, they had soaked the oysters in wood alcohol. Mike downed 2 dozen in one gulp and said: “You know Tony? You oughta open a restaurant, you know first class food!”They kept up the oysters and finally gave him rotten sardines. Malloy kept coming back and always asked for “that new drink!”The gang was beyond desperate. They knew that another death like the first two might draw suspicion. But by now between the drinks, chemicals, and food etc. Tony was losing a lot of money. So they got Mike very drunk, took him to Claremont Park, stripped him, poured water over him and left him in a snow bank.Mike didn’t come back to the bar, and they scanned the newspapers but there was no obituary. Pasqua however, wasn’t with them. He was in bed, he had caught a dreadful cold from his night in the park.Later Mike came in, happy, with new clothes. He laughed at how he got so drunk at the bar that he wandered into the park and must have stripped off. The police picked him up and after letting him sleep it off, they contacted a charity that gave him new clothes.Fed up, the ring decided to bring in outside help, they located a cab driver who had a criminal record, and one night at three dragged the drunk Malloy to the intersection of Gun Hill Road and Baychester Avenue. They held Mike up while the taxi driver sped toward them. They jumped out of the way at the last second and Mike was knocked off the road. They did this a second time.Thanking the cabbie they promised to pay him from the insurance proceeds. For a few days there was nothing in the newspapers. They had to throw caution to the wind and visited morgues and called hospitals. Nothing.Three weeks later Malloy walked in the bar. He laughed and explained how he got so drunk that he walked into traffic. He was dazed and didn’t correct the hospital when they admitted him under the wrong name. Seeing how dejected his friends were he assured them that he was fine and “sure could use a drink!”Marino used his underworld contacts again and the crew met with a professional hitman. The hitman’s price was $500.00 so Marino turned him down. Honestly by now they had spent so much that the insurance would soon not be enough to cover their expenses. They took matters into their own hands. The gang rented Mike a room, and then ran a hose from the gas line to Mike. They held him down until he died. Of course they had to pay a crooked doctor to falsify a death certificate and Malloy was buried quickly.Unfortunately for the killers too many people were involved. Furthermore, the predominantly Irish neighborhood and the Irish cops who patrolled it were surprised that a good Irishman died and didn’t have a wake, they asked why.Meanwhile people were talking. One night the taxi driver got drunk and complained loudly that he was paid to hit someone with his cab, but wasn’t paid enough to cover the bodywork on his car. An informant in the mob also heard about a top hitman griping about “four pikers who wasted his time.” It took weeks to connect all the dots, but soon the cabbie, the hitman, and later the doctor were all delighted to talk in exchange for plea deals. In 1934 Marino and his gang at separate times all died in the electric chair.

Did President Obama ever have “ANNUAL” GDP growth reach at least 3% during his time in office?

I think that many who have answered this question have talked about the actual GDP numbers and this is fine. But what really needs to be addressed is how to attain 3% or better annual GDP growth.I remember Pres. Obama telling people in a town hall meeting in 2016 that some jobs are not coming back to America, and he didn't know what magic wand candidate Trump could wave to bring companies and jobs back to America. He also said that these jobs were never coming back to America and that 2% annual GDP growth was the new norm. Well, this is one reason Trump won. It never entered Pres. Obama's mind that maybe, just maybe reducing onerous regulations on business and reducing our corporate tax rate by 40% would be a big factor in inducing companies to return to and invest in America again...and this is exactly what has happened since the Trump tax cuts. Pres. Obama knew or understood nothing about how businesses run or work.On Jan. 26, 2018, a month after the Trump tax cuts were signed into law, CNBC (hardly a conservative network) reported what numerous companies planned to do with the reductions in tax cuts. Here, Pres. Obama, is the "magic wand" you were looking for and Pres. Trump delivered. I quote from CNBC:Want to know what companies are doing now that corporate taxes have been slashed? Obama’s mind because he cared less about economic prosperity than he did about fairness…and Pres. Obama stated in a 2009 interview with ABC News that he cared more about fairness than increased revenues through tax reductions!

Why would Clinton not be charged for her security of personal confidential information while Patreaus was charged?

She was not charged because there is a double standard when you are above the power heriarchy. The differences where:She lied to congress saying their where no emails or that she had more servers on record:She said that there was no classified info, when state department deals constantly with classified info. After when state department found More than 20,000 emails 22 Top secret .It all started when Attorney General Loretta Lynch (who is the superior of FBI) “accidentaly met” with Bill Clinton on an airport and talked for 30 off-record suposedly of: “Grandchildern and Golf”. What I and many think is that this is very naive to believe, she was just warning her husband that the FBI will carry the investigation. In fact 3 days after on 4th of July the FBI had the interview off-record and not being under oath, it lasted for around 3 hours.FBI chief Comey was very transparent, saying the truth :Did she returned all her records? NO .Did she attempted to delete or destroy cmails? Yes“She commite gross negligence, she committed extreme carelessness”. Which is the same.Carelessness is not an option when you are trained for that job, you are used to handle that kind of information, also for being on the White House for 8 years plus working on a Top Law firm for 5 years.Sending classified emails to people and entities, violating law. To other countries and institutions which could be easily accused of spying, other whistleblowers for telling the truth where accused of treason and forced to exile. She could even be blackmailed if elected. She lied so she shoud go to jail, the reason she doesnt is because she is above the law. It was done on the open because neoliberals and elites protects her, with the help of dinosaur mainstream media distracting people , who don’t even know , or want to know. Its not the first time that she lies or have contreversial scandal:LIED not first time,Travelgate friends took over travel Business woth 31 million anually.
