I think I can add some insight into this issue;I’m a 28 year old male, Manager, fairly fit/healthy and have (I think) an interesting personality. I have a healthy ‘relationship’ lifestyle. I’ve met with young, single women of the business world (marketing/advertising/banking/resources) who have literally spit out their coffee/wine when I’ve explained what I do. Some have asked me why I would work in such an industry (as if helping others is disgusting?), and then gone on to enquire about my salary and what I could likely earn in the future - on one occasion my date tried to convince me to see the errors of my ways and convert to a career in banking. I believe that some of these women have ultimately thought I have wasted my talents and are missing out on a ‘much bigger meal ticket’.On the other hand; I’ve met an array of women who have been extremely interested in my career; many of these women have themselves been involved in similar industries or hold similar passions. These sorts of women have appreciated my drive and motivation and have been highly supportive of this (in fact I am now in a LTR with someone like this). I have also had far more in common with these sorts of women - they are no less beautiful and interesting than the ‘corporate type’ above (in fact they are often more so).The similarity in values with all these women has been seeking a Man that has the values of Drive and Motivation. The first type I described believe this combination should = vast sums of money. On the contrary, the second lot of Women I described valued Drive, Motivation and Passion - but this doesn’t necessarily mean oodles of money. Who knows? Perhaps being a low-level, low-paid case worker in a NFP might mean that some of these Women would not be interested, but probably more-so if I had no Drive or Passion to advance further (and be in a lower position to help people).I am sure in any event that the Women whom were interested wouldn’t exactly want to live in squalor and struggle paycheck to paycheck even with a successful Manager in a NFP; Quality of Life is important to everyone. The difference really lies between living comfortably (but not excessively) vs living VERY comfortably (potentially excessively) - and marrying this idea in holding the core values that lead to a loving, nurturing relationship between a Man and a Woman.As a Man with Drive and Motivation I don’t think you should ever compromise your goals, values and passions for anything or anyone. There are millions of incredible Women than understand this.
