One time I worked for an influential, globally recognized computer services company — 90,000 people worldwide — and I received an email addressed to someone in the corporate human resources office in an entirely different state. Her name was also Sarah Madden, but her corporate email address was slightly different than mine (mine was “[email protected]” and hers might have been one number off). It was a confidential message about a different employee who was in a sensitive situation, possibly getting ready to lose her job. (At least it concerned somebody I did not know.)I immediately contacted the sender and explained I had not read the attachment and he might want to resend that email — and be a little more careful when sending future emails. I deleted the email, and the sender was grateful I had alerted him. Problem solved.Back history — CSC existed for almost 60 years. When I worked there, we had access to an email directory of all employees (maybe even to CSC India employees, but I can’t remember). It would have been easy to make this mistake scrolling down a list of names. Many universities hire retired diplomats as faculty, though usually as adjunct or part-time lecturers. A few have diplomat-in-residence or ambassaodr-in-residence teaching positions. In the US, these are considered "biddable positions," ones for which an active diplomat can request consideration through State Dept's Human Resources office. That office will send a short list to the university which will make the final decision.

If your son was indeed assaulted so severely that his jaw was broken, then the matter is beyond his having to file charges. The police should be investigating and attempting to charge someone else with one or more felony assault related charges. Unless , of course, your son was the aggressor and the broken jaw was the result of self-defense, in which case that may be your son's reasoning for not filing charges.As far as workman's comp: Why your son wouldn't file is beyond me. If the act occurred at work and he incurs significant medical costs as result, he should file. If the owners or a manager is pressuring him not to do so, then they are violation of the law and they could be prosecuted. If your son is under the impression that trying to ignore the matter will make it go away, he should realize that any company that allows a worker to be assaulted and takes no actions can and will fire him at any time.There seems to be more to this than meets the eye. If this is a major corporation, you may wish to contact their corporate Human Resources office and explain your concerns. If your son is a vulnerable adult, you may need to contact the police department and ask them to investigate this matter more closely. If you have proof that labor laws are being violated, you need to contact your state's department of labor and see what they can do.
