I would look them in the eye & say that you’ve had the cat for ages & sorry if it looks like their missing cat. Take the cat to your vet, check for chip, which I doubt the cat will have, tell the vet this cat is yours but neighbors are trying to claim it so you’d like it chipped. Keep the cat with its new chip. You could even go to animal rescue, find a cat with same markings, adopt it. take adoption papers to a vet & get it chipped. then take similar cat to another vet, show adoption papers, get it chipped, & help two cats at the same time. If the neighbors dare call the police, show adoption papers & paper showing cat is chipped. Might see if adoption papers can be altered to show two cats or two different dates. KEEP cats.

We were riding home from work together one afternoon and he glanced at me and said "you wanna not pick up the kid and go home and ****?" (his idea of foreplay) I said "No." He laughed and said "what? Why are we married then??" I said "I have no idea". He then stated, laughing, "You want a divorce?" I said "Yes." He about crashed the truck and totally freaked and honestly, I couldn't understand why he was surprised. He never had anything nice to say about me or any other woman, I was blessed with a second marriage to a wonderful man who adopted my daughter (after paying my ex, per his request, to sign the adoption papers) and we had another daughter and lived and loved until he passed away from Multiple Sclerosis in 2009.

The person from the shelter reviewed my paperwork, and said “oh, you didn’t fill this in.” I told her, “no, I filled it in. I just can’t imagine a situation in which I’ll be returning these kittens.”During day one, I had some idea about what their personalities were like. It seemed to me that Pepper was the braver of the two and would likely be the friendlier. Over the span of a couple of weeks, I’ve come to realize that Bailey is actually the snugglier of the two: it just took him a couple of days to get used to his new environment. Maybe in a month, I’ll have a slightly different understanding of who each of them is.But they are already members of my family.
