“And you, miss, what would you like?”I plastered a fake smile on my face and tried to ignore the people behind me, whose eyes seemed to all be glued to our conversation.“I’d like a free soda, please.” My voice came out in a whisper.“Pardon me?”“I’d like a free soda, please.” I said, this time a little louder.“A free soda?”“Yes, a free soda. You see, I want a soda, but I don’t have any money. May I please have a free soda?” I literally choked out the words.We were at Taco Bell. The room was full, crowded with people. Each one of their eyes seemed to be staring at me.“I’m sorry, miss, we don’t do that here.”As expected, of course. Another rejection. It’s okay, I told myself. I’ve been through this hundreds of times. Yet, every time it felt like a wall was being thrown into my face, pushing me back. And a hand was squeezing my heart, until all the juices in it were gone.I dipped my head in thanks, plastered another fake smile onto my face, and walked away. Then, ignoring all the stares, I nodded to my mom, signaling for us to leave and go on to the next store.Others have talked about fearing the opposite sex, exams, not having friends, and even school shootings and death. I fear those things too, but those all seem like minute things compared to what I fear the most.I fear rejection. I absolutely hate asking authorities for a favor, only to get rejected. For this reason, I have avoided asking others for things.After my mother found out, she forced me to get rejected 5 times a day on the weekends. She told me that if I didn’t overcome my fear now, it would come back and bite me as an adult. From then on, every weekend, she would drive me to somewhere far from our neighborhood (just so that I don’t accidentally bump into someone I know), and we would go to the fast food restaurants and ask for a free drink.The first few times I did it, I cried and screamed and tried to choke myself. My mother kept me in check.But I’ve been doing this for a while now, and it’s getting better.I think.Edit:I went to a McDonalds today, and the conversation went something like this:Me: Can I have a free soda?Cashier: Excuse me?Me: Can I have a free soda?Cashier: Uh … do you have a coupon or anything?Me: No … **(thinking) please end the conversation so I can leave**Cashier: *reaches back to get one of those cup things for sodas*Me: **did she mishear me? darn it, now I have to explain to her how I don’t actually have a coupon and that I said no but she just didn’t hear me correctly … **Cashier: *points to soda dispenser and hands me cup* The sodas are over there.Me: Oh! Um, thank you!!So yeah, she gave me a soda, knowing that I wouldn’t pay her and it would be free! This is the first free soda I’ve gotten, so I’m pretty happy and proud about it >w< There are some blessed people in this world!

I will give my experience. I've been working as PO since two and half years. My first posting is in a rural branch. But I live in a nearby city.Wakes up at 5.30 AM. Goes to play badminton till 7.30.At 9.30 I start to office and reach it by 10 AM.When i reach the office, as it's a rural branch huge crowd would be gathered already outside the branch. Managing them is a gargantuan task.As I look after operations department. I would be authorising vouchers passed by head cashier, so is with transfer and NEFT/RTGS Vouchers. And also I will punch gold loans and pass it to the manager. There will be non stop floating of customers till 2 PM, then lunch break.After lunch break again it's crowd managing, till 4 PM. After 4PM Customers will not be allowed. So it's time to crack jokes with colleagues and chit chat. And have some tea and snacks. You feel relieved after all that hectic work.Till 5 pm it would be free time. Then cashier and clerks leave the office. Manager will send me for recovery of loans or any other pending work. That is a field experience. You will learn how to manage people. After all the work is completed it would be 6.30 or 7 pm but some times we leave the branch by 5.30 or 6 pm too. It depends.After coming to home you can do what you want, watch movies, TV series or if you want to prepare for exams, you can.On holidays I will go to movies, or travel to some places, and will play badminton some extra timeSo that's a day in my life.
