PDF Editor FAQ

Who are your favorite and your least favorite clone troopers?

FAVOURITE CLONE TROOPER:Commander ThornThis guy was the clone officer in charge of Senator Padme Amidala’s security on Scipio, on her trip to visit Rush Clovis. He gets attacked by several droid gunships and Vulture droids, and loses most of his men when his Consular frigate is blown up by said droids. He and his remaining few men, try their utmost to stop the overwhelming Separatist forces from starting the invasion of Scipio, but ultimately are outnumbered and outgunned, and soon only Thorn is left. But, with his gigantic Z-6 nicknamed “The Hammer”, he punches a few more droids, before going down for good.(4 shots to take him down, and his last words are “For the Republic!”. Badass.)The reason I like Thorn, as much as clones like Fives or Rex, is because for a clone with so little screen time or dialogue, he leaves a big impact on the audience. His sheer bravery and willingness to die to complete his mission, or to at least take as many droids as he can with him, gets to me every time.BTW, he’s also a Thor reference, with his name ‘Thorn’, wings on his helmet, his Z-6 rotary blaster nicknamed ‘The Hammer’…LEAST FAVOURITE CLONE TROOPER:Funnily enough, I don’t hate Fox as much as everyone else seems to. He’s incompetent and stupid, as is shown multiple times, and is an asshole, but that’s just it. He isn’t anything more or less. But there are others who are much, much worse than Fox. Such as…Neyo, or CC-8826.This guy is a complete psychopath. His being bred for combat, and combat alone made him cold and withdrawn from his brothers, and didn’t warm to the Jedi unlike his fellow clones, or even his friend Commander Bacara, who was known for being quite coldhearted as well. But the big reason why I hate him is because, most clones had at least one moment of hesitation, more for clones like Rex, before executing Order 66. Even the aforementioned Bacara had one, before he and his men shot Ki-adi Mundi. But not this asshole.(“Commander Neyo. Exe-” “OH YES THANK YOU YEAAAAAAAH” blaster noises)This is quite obviously an exaggeration, but I don’t doubt he had a certain satisfaction in killing an alleged traitor to the Republic. Anyway, I hate his guts.Cheers!

If the inhibitor chips forced the clones to execute Order 66, why did they do it with apparent relish? Wouldn’t they just act like droids if they were being forced to do it?

I don’t think they do it with relish. On Utapau, Cody takes a second before firing on Kenobi. In my personal head-canon this is him trying to stop the inhibitor chip, but this isn’t backed up by any sources. Regardless, Cody from then on is emotionless and acts with professionalism. Here’s what Cody said:Would it have been too much to ask for the order to have come through before I gave him back the bloody lightsaber? On Mygeeto, Commander Bacara formed a firing line before promptly executing Ki-Adi Mundi. His journal entry following the event was the only example I could find of a clone relishing executing Order 66.I hesitated for a moment when I received Order 66 because the last thing I expected was a Jedi coup. Did I feel betrayed? You bet I did. I thought of all my men who died under Ki-Adi-Mundi's command, and if I'd known then that he and his buddies were gearing up to do the Separatists' work for them and overthrow the government, I'd have shot him as a traitor a lot earlier. He betrayed the trust of every one of us.Bacara felt betrayed, and likely felt as though he was avenging his brothers’ deaths by killing Mundi.Ayala Secura’s death is the one you’re most likely thinking of. However, they actually killed her quickly so that she wouldn’t suffer. Here’s what a member of the 501st said:Cut off and for all we knew abandoned by our superiors, our only hope was Aayla Secura, our Jedi commander. Without her iron will, none of us would have come out of that mess with our sanity, or our lives. When her death came, I hope it was quick. She earned that much."When the 501st was finally rotated out of Felucia, Aayla Secura made a point of seeing us off personally, calling us the bravest soldiers she had ever seen. It's a good thing we were wearing helmets, because none of us could bear to look her in the eye.Commander Jag, who shoot down Plo Koon over Cato Neomodia, also did not express relish. He said in a flat, monotone, voice, “It will be done, my lord.” In addition, Plo’s clones respected him, putting this picture on one of their gunships:Next up we have Stass Allie, who was shot down on Salecumi. Commander Neyo executed the Jedi and did so professionally. Here’s what an after action report said on the matter.Commander Neyo (CC-8826) and CT-3423, accompanying Allie on speeder bike reconnaissance, received Order 66 and fired on the Jedi with the cannons of the BARC speeder operated by the 91st. Several blasts hit the rear of Allie's Aratech 74-Z speeder bike, igniting its reactor and sending it into a fatal crash.Seems pretty professional to me.Finally, we have Captain Rex, who definitely didn’t do so with relish. He gave Ahsoka enough time to escape and save him and Ahsoka. Here’s what Ahsoka said to Rex just moments before Order 66.The Republic couldn’t have asked for better soldiers, nor I a better friend. In conclusion, for the most part, clones did not relish committing Order 66. More hardcore clones like Bacara may have felt like they were avenging their fallen brothers, but for others, it was a somber moment.Stay safe,-Ben
