Is an Executive Assistant position a dead-end job?

There's no such thing as a dead-end job, only dead-end people. The real question is, "What do you want to get out of your job?". If you become an EA to a high-powered executive, won't you get to meet a lot of people? Won't you get to see the corporate politics from several angles? Won't you have insight into how a company really works (i.e. from the top instead of the bottom)?I have a secret. When my resume says I worked at DLJ, a top investment bank, it's true that I worked there. But I wasn't a banker. I was a word processor, paid to edit and revise documents. Guess what I learned by being there. I learned how Wall Street deals are put together. I heard all the inside gossip, challenges and more about all kinds of companies. I had insider information (which I never shared or used) about companies going public. I also saw how bankers worked and realized I didn't want to do that job. I learned so many things that helped my career, not the least of which was being able to type 115 WPM without errors (I can only do about 90 WPM now... which still saves me a ton of time in my writing). No, being an assistant is not a dead-end job unless you let it be. Use it for what it can offer you and give it all that you have. Be the best at it and you'll find opportunities within that company and on the outside too. Never forget that winning a job is not about your past title, it's about proving your ability to perform in a given role.

Why doesn’t Ubisoft release games on Steam?

“Why doesn’t Ubisoft release games on Steam?”Ubisoft have released games on Steam. Between base titles and DLC, they currently have 115 listings on the storefront. If you’re asking why they aren’t releasing current games on Steam… Well, the official stance is that they feel that Steam doesn’t have a realistic business model. Which is odd, because they’ve been publishing games through Steam since 2006.If you read between the lines of the PC Gamer article, they’re annoyed that they have to keep paying Valve 30% of their sales as compensation for Valve doing the hosting and shopping-card functionality (despite having their own storefront… Which is kind of abysmal, to be honest). It’s all about the bottom line. The Epic Games Store is offering 88% of sales back to the publisher, rather than 70%. EGS is a pale imitation of Steam, Origin - hell, even UPlay. It’s lacking such common features as a shopping cart, a wishlist, reviews, cloud storage for game saves… The only draw for publishers is the higher profit margins; for gamers, the store listings is sometimes lower on EGS than anywhere else. But it’s all a sham. EGS is feature-incomplete, and has documented issues with acting as spyware, in addition to allegations of being an attack vector of sorts for Chinese elements, through Tencent.Ubisoft is, of course, free to publish its games wherever it sees fit. But Steam is, by far, the largest digital games storefront out there, and despite their apathy/resting-on-laurels of late, they’re still the most popular. Epic’s decision to throw down mountains of cash for exclusives (timed or not) onto a storefront and client that aren’t anywhere near ready is slimy and unethical, in my opinion. But Ubisoft has shareholders to appease, so the bottom line will almost always win out. That’s why Ubisoft (and EA) haven’t been publishing their latest games on Steam.
