It would hang up after a period of time of calling in. After trying this several times, I went into the local branches here in town. The branch managers were unable to contact their own mortgage department and help me out. I left information with both branches I visited but never heard back. Finally, out of desperation, I created a Twitter account and tweeted “Chase sold me half a home #ChaseHalfHomes (Edit: The property line somehow went through the house). I have never received such quick customer service before. I had an email asking for contact information and to remove the tweet within minutes. I removed the tweet because I finally had a contact. I received direct contact information and the problem was resolved by Chase. I don’t think I should've needed to go to social media to get their attention, but I was happy it was resolved.Pumps - When I purchased the home all three pumps on the property were in failure states. The sump pump under the house and the dosing pump for the septic tank were completely shot and were full replacements. The well pump had bad wiring at the well head and was an easy fix too.Yard work - The yard had not been maintained for years. It took many days and weekends worth of cleaning debris and bush hogging to clear the yard for use.4 HVAC - The original air handler and exterior unit were on the house which put it over 20 years old. I had both units replaced before moving in.5. Water System - The house was on well water so I wanted to put in filtration and sterilization. I designed my own setup so that I could fit it on the end of my washer/dryer area. I decided on 20″ 5 micron sediment, carbon CTO filter, a lead filter ( FCRC25B - Its an expensive filter but the water quality is amazing) sterilized with UV light. I also added a water softener to deal with a small hardness problem.Edit: This system is a bit overkill but from my perspective it was the right design choice. I had a private company test the water as well as a test completed by ISDH. The testing provided some information, but there were also unknowns that testing a well that sat for four years could not evaluate. Designing the system with only two stages or 10″ filters would have required major redesigns of the mounting and piping on the stand if I encountered a condition where I needed more capacity or filters. Installing 3 stages provides up to 3 stages. They don’t have to be used. A stage can be left empty or another cheap paper cartridge installed. Using 20″ buckets allowed me to build the system for the larger buckets and permits swapping the buckets in the future for downsizing. A 10 inch filter will definitely fit in the space provided.6. Water Heater - It was IN the half bath!!! I did not like this so I removed it and placed an on demand unit in the garage. The garage is insulated and monitored by the home automation system. I am alarmed if the temp drops or if the door is left open. There is also heat wire to prevent freezing if the door is left open in the winter. I also have plans to add a heat re-circ pump (for instant hot water) that will add another layer of freeze protection.Only pic I could find of the water heater in the garage. It can be seen above the truck on the back wall of the garage. I really liked this upgrade as it allowed re configuring the half bath.From here the updates are just nice to have and weren't necessary. EDIT: I didn’t expect the house to get so much attention. I’ve added some shameless plugs to this section to show more of the house!7. Updating the house: This is the big money pit. Updating all of the rooms is time consuming, costly, and labor intensive. I don’t hire work out (I had cabinets built and counter tops are being cut) for house work because I enjoy doing it myself. This has proved to be a major savings on the jobs and has allowed me to do higher end installations than I would if I was paying for the work.Its still a work in progress after 3 years but I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I have been without a kitchen for the last four month. The last two months the water system has been out and this happened to coincide with the current events and was a little frustrating when I couldn’t easily buy clean water at the store. Everything moves slower because I do it by myself. I use the Dell’s 180W power supply mounted under the desk and just put an adapter on the end to power my personal HP laptop as 180W is more than enough for it.I did make the mistake of using non drying oils for the finish and now have to maintain the desk periodically. I bought wire/ fabric baskets from Jo-Ann fabrics and chalk table signs off of Amazon trying to match the industrial theme. I use these to sort cables, adapters, accessories, etc. on the top shelf.9. I’ve put half a mile (2,500 ft) worth of Ethernet in so far and its still increasing.I use HomeSeer w/ HSTouch for the clients. All of the switches in the house are HomeSeer brand. They allow multi tap of the paddle to allow a single switch to issue several different commands and the command can be customized in the controller. This is a great features for me as it allows control of multiple lights with one command. I use mostly z-wave hardware. I have some Hue bulbs, but I can't integrate them as seemlessly as my z-wave HW.The TV in the top is just ziptied in. I took out the four corner case screws and drilled through. Ziptied to the rack and called it good. The PC is a custom build in a 2U case. The switch is a managed 48 +2 port switch with 24 ports of PoE up to 180W. I'm only using 30W. The house Ethernet comes into the two 24 port patch panels and the patch cables connect to the switch. Finding the right length patch cables was fun. Internet connection into the house through a Arris modem, and an Asus router distributes it to the network. It provides 3 WiFi networks as well as 3 guest networks, definite overkill.11.
