Yes, I sometimes watch Fox News. And it's because I do want to hear a variety of opinions. I'm a left-leaning centrist but, until a few years ago, I leaned right. So I try to be fair and I continue to listen to all sides of every issue.Here's my appraisalI find that CNN is every bit as much tilted to the left as Fox is to the right. Actually I think that CNN is even more biased. And then there's MSNBC too. But there is a big difference between Fox and the other two: CNN is shameless about their bias whereas Fox tries to present themselves as fair. And CNN does report honestly, albeit diluted heavily with leftward bias, whereas Fox makes little attempt to be honest - actually modifying or suppressing the facts to suit their agenda.If one were to evaluate Fox against CNN from an independent perspective, it would be easy to label CNN as the more extreme of the two. But one can watch CNN and still form their own independent opinion by ignoring the reporters’ opinions. That is not the case with Fox, where altered news is presented in such a way as to make it sound balanced, so that it would be impossible for a viewer to form a knowledgeable opinion.If you want to attract voters of a particular stance, CNN's approach is best. If you want to convert viewers to your opinions, Fox's approach is most effective.ExampleI'll try to explain by way of example. Let's assume that a Democratic Senator and a Republican Senator both got caught voting for issues based on payola from a lobbyist:CNN: Senator Ron Republico is under investigation for selling his vote to the NRA. The NRA has become an extremist group that uses unethical tactics to influence our leaders. They don't seem to care about mass shootings. In other news Senator Dan Democra is also under investigation for selling his vote to PETA. etc.Fox: Senator Dan Democra has been caught red-handed selling his vote to PETA. It's a sad day when our government is for sale. Meanwhile the Dems are childishly trying to get even by charging Ron Republico with selling his vote and, while they're at it, trying to steamroll NRA and the second amendment into the charges as well. etc.Related ObservationDuring the mass shootings in Texas, where the right-wing extremist shot Hispanics, I watched Fox News to get the latest updates. The reporters pattered for several minutes about how this all could have been prevented if the wall had been built. Of course that is far from the truth and it is an extremely insensitive attitude given the circumstances, but that's not the shocker. The reporters then brought up the point that the Democrats were surely going to use this shooting for political purposes, to talk about gun control, and how that would be cruel: Using a human tragedy like this for political purposes. (Right after they had spent several minutes using that human tragedy for their own political purposes.)If the hypocrisy and frigidity of this does not disturb you, then maybe you've watched too much Fox News.SummaryCNN is blatantly biased.Fox is deceptively coercive.
