Not sure about food……booze, YesSCOTT BASE, Antarctica (AP) — Three bottles of rare, 19th century Scotch found beneath the floor boards of Antarctic explorer Ernest Shackleton's abandoned expedition base.But not even New Zealand Prime Minister John Key, who personally returned the stash, got a taste of the contents of the bottles of Mackinlay's whisky, which were rediscovered 102 years after the explorer was forced to leave them behind.The whisky was transferred in March from Ross Island to Shackleton's desolate hut at Cape Royds and replaced beneath the restored hut as part of a program to protect the legacy of the so-called heroic era of Antarctic exploration from 1898 to 1915.Bottled in 1898 after the blend was aged 15 years, the Mackinlay bottles were among three crates of Scotch and two of brandy buried beneath a basic hut Shackleton had used during his dramatic 1907 Nimrod excursion to the Antarctic.But the bottles were found intact — and researchers could hear the whisky sloshing around inside. Antarctica's minus 22 Fahrenheit (-30 Celsius) temperature was not enough to freeze the liquor.Distiller Whyte & Mackay, which now owns the Mackinlay brand, chartered a private jet to take the bottles from the Antarctic operations headquarters in the New Zealand city of Christchurch to Scotland for analysis in 2011.The recipe for the whisky had been lost. But Whyte & Mackay recreated a limited edition of 50,000 bottles from a sample drawn with a syringe through a cork of one of the bottles.

We have introduced 2 Vistadome coaches with large windows and roof glass, while 1 more to be introduced in the Kashmir valley. Now passengers can view beauty of their surrounding through the comfort of their coach. These coaches will also provide passengers with ample opportunities to take pictures of their surroundings. Additionally, a SpecialRajdhani Express between Delhi and Mumbai has been launched which has reduced travel time by 2 hours. While Tejas Trains between Mumbai to Goa (200 kmph) and Anubhuti coaches (160 kmph) have been started. Both are equipped with modern facilities. In this regard, more than 1,25,000 bio-toilets fitted over 34,400 coaches and all trains to run with bio-toilets by March 2019. Furthermore, integrated Mechanised Cleaning at 488 major stations and On-Board-Housekeeping on more than 1000 trains is underway. Cleaning of tracks is also underway. Automatic Rail-mounted machine to clear muck started in Delhi.Even though Railways is modernising, there is a strong connection to the past. To share our story with passengers Railways has introduced numerous services to showcase its rich heritage. For instance the world’s oldest steam locomotives (EIR 21 and 22 built in 1855) have been restored for chartered tourist trains.Many moresteam locomotives have been introduced in Kangra valley and Neral-Matheran hill railways, while additional steam-hauled day trip for tourists have been introduced between Mettupalayam and Coonoor. Railways has also renovated the National Rail Museum Delhi and Rewari Steam Centre. Lastly scheduled passenger service hauled by steam locomotives planned between Garihasru - Farukhnagar giving passengers the opportunity to experience the rich history of both locations.Indian Railways is always committed to its passengers and I am glad I could share a few ways in which we are making railway journeys more enjoyable.
