Many in UK do not even know there are elected UK MEPs in Brussels representing their interests.Many Brexiteers seem to have a concept of there being a foreign Government based in Brussels that rules the UK. The conservative, authoritarian types, that are the majority of Brexit voters, hate working with outsiders they cannot control - so again their world view on democracy is that it is only only a valid democracy if it ensures UK both has its cake and also eats it. The ultra competitive modern world does not work like that so they desperately wish to withdraw and return to the gentler past. They may be in for a real shock when they find out what other countries demand UK does to secure any “take it or leave it” free trade deals.
