Standard Form Apartment Lease: Fill & Download for Free

So a “dorm” that idols talk about are essentially just a standard apartment in Seoul that the company rents for them to live in. It’s nothing specially made for idols or anything, they’re just regular family apartments located in apartment buildings. They sign a lease (usually 1-2 years) and the entire group and often a manager, all live in it.Usually rookie groups live in pretty cramped situations, this is before they’ve made any money so they’re essentially living in a small space with a large number of members. Peniel from BTOB said in a podcast that in his early years with his group, the 7 of them lived in 1 bedroom that had 3 bunkbeds and a mattress on the ground. The 13 members of Seventeen all used to live in one apartment with 1 bathroom. The 13 members of WJSN also lived similarly with one apartment, one bathroom for all of them.Here’s a few images of Idol dorms during their rookie years:IZ*ONE (they’re split in to 2 dorms)-Gfriend-Fromis_9-SF9-Stray Kids-So basically the typical set up is a bunch of bunk beds set up on various rooms. The “wall” to hang up clothes is basically just clothing racks they set up because they ran out of closet space. Again, these are just regular apartments. The company often signs a lease and once it’s up, that’s when they move. Depending on how well the group is doing and the company’s financial situation, Usually the next dorm is bigger.Seventeen went from living in a cramped apartment with 1 bathroom to a bigger one with 3 bathrooms. Then about a year later, moved again, this time in to two separate apartments. And for the first time, some members got their own rooms and it’s definitely much more spacious.But since then, they haven’t moved a third time yet, but they did recently get a 3rd apartment in the same building so the 13 members are spread across 3 dorms now.-Anyways, often times, once the members start getting older and making money, many would choose to move out of the dorms and get their own place. The ones who don’t would often just live in the dorms until the company may eventually tell them to move out.So yeah, that’s what a Kpop idols dorm is, just an apartment in a regular apartment building where other every day people live too.

I’m going to go with “Neat idea, but more trouble than they’re worth.”My first encounter with a waterbed was in the early eighties, when the neighbor family proudly brought one home. Think of the clunkiest, ugliest, heaviest piece of eighties furniture you can, and then make it about ten times clunkier, uglier, and heavier than that. It took them ages to set it up, what with all the bookshelves and candle holders and mirrors and whatnot.The big moment arrived, and the garden hose was snaked through a window to fill it. They hadn’t yet gotten a protective cover on the mattress, bloated like a tick and reeking of vinyl, when their German Shepherd made a sudden appearance. She jumped on the bed before anyone could stop her, and her claws went right through. The family watched as the giant in-house water balloon began to slowly deflate. You couldn’t just run to the store for a replacement mattress back then; it had to be ordered. They had to drain the old one as best they could and laboriously haul it out. If I remember correctly, the parents slept on their couches and the kids...not as willing to let go of the excitement…camped out in sleeping bags in the water-damaged frame.In the late eighties, my parents decided to get me and my little brother twin sized waterbeds. By that time, the mattresses were a little sturdier, but my brother tended to want to jump on his to make it slosh, and that caused some bad moments. (By this time, they weren’t as built-to-last….if I remember correctly it was mostly chipboard construction with vinyl upholstery that puffed padding from the inevitable wounds. They never would have survived a puncture.)I took more or less decent care of mine, but then we had another problem- I had a spinal surgery coming up, and it would mean a halo brace, held to the body with four bolts in the skull, which stick out like antennae. My mom had frightening visions of the bolts puncturing the waterbed and me slowly drowning as I struggled to get up and out of the thing. By the time I came home from the hospital, the waterbed mattress was gone and a standard twin mattress was down in its place. It actually fit pretty well. I learned to live without sleeping on a giant, sloshing hot water bottle.Not everyone has to worry about drowning in a bizarre neck brace incident, of course, but I’ve heard anecdotes through the years. Apartment leases always specified NO WATERBEDS, and there probably wouldn’t be a rule without a story behind it.Cool concept, way too many drawbacks.

In most cases they aren't houses, they are apartments. A company will set up a whole building of furnished apartments and rent them out to corporate clients. The charge is usually a little more than what a standard apartment would go for, but you don't have to worry about leasing terms. It's much less expensive than a long term hotel room.
