How is reservation on the basis of caste helping India? Are there other country apart from India where caste based reservation is followed?

What is even more shocking is that even after 3000 years of caste based discrimination, people of India continue to discriminate each other by caste. About 95% of them will not marry people outside their caste. Marrying within the caste is because it keeps the wealth of the castes within their castes only.Since some castes are super rich in India, they follow this tradition to keep the wealth within their communities. Intercaste marriages if practiced will quickly cause a wealth distribution among various castes. To understand how powerful caste is about 19% of Indian consider themselves 'irreligious' and yet only 5% do intercaste marriages. Instead, policymakers need to be concerned about how the bottom 40% fare more generally. This includes the vulnerable lower-middle classes who are at risk of failing to benefit from and contribute to the recovery and future growth. Anti-poverty programmes will not be enough. Not only cash transfers but also increasing access to public services, such as high-quality education, training and healthcare, constitute long-term social investment to create greater equality of opportunities in the long run. Perhaps it is time to nationalize all private schools and provide reservations there also. We know now, it works admirably well.We should also ask the rich Indians to Give Up Their Private Schools and swap it with a more deserving government school student. This is the fastest way to elevate India.See Also 2 States - Gujarat and Tamil NaduThanks for reading...

What is the most natural way to increase metabolism?

I’ll proceed to listing the simple steps i have taking to improve my metabolism followed by a brief description. This is also my first writing besides my awkward papers from high school english class so i hope its clear enough. My answers aren’t based on scholarly research, but on suggestions from different places that i implemented and noticed the results, as well as some opinions from my own results. Please remember to stay positive in your quest for better health, you are what you eat but you are also what you think. If you have been thinking about changing your life by changing you nutrition, i suggest getting stated right away. If you weight until when you feel like it, it just won’t happen. Force yourself. I also looked into how to boost my metabolism when i first started caring more about my health. In doing so, i found it is a lot broader than than i initially thought. If you read this far, remember to eat your “kale”. I also use “kale” as a general team to represent healthy nutrition and plant based throughout and a variety of names to represent other Crash…opps i meant unhealthy eating.Simple(not easy) steps to Improve metabolismHow we use water shortly after waking up.Proper food combinationFood portions and food intake arrangementsHow and when we ingest waterEating more Plant based meals(or “kale”)Eat for benefits and effects , not cause its tastyBlood and Bones opposed to Micros and MacrosPills: Digestive enzymes and probiotics and natural probioticsRegular exercise and building muscle and cardiovascular healthImproving the quality of air we breathe by improving body posturesleepLook more into itMost people seem to confuse metabolism with digestion. Metabolism shouldn’t be thought of in terms of speed but more in terms of effectiveness and efficiency. However, one can have a fast of or slow digestion. One simple but vague way to remember it is that; digestion is when food is broken down and lives your stomach and metabolism is what happens to food after it leaves your stomach, which could either mean in the white house(Toilet) or to your body for growth, recovery and energy. Some slim people who have a fast digestion rate are more prone to this misconception, and are confused to why they cant put on weight no matter how much they eat. Having a fast digestion and a poor metabolism could mean you find your self sitting on the toilet a lot, not really making much use of the nutrients contained in your meal. Having a slow digestion and a poor metabolism could result in weight gain, because most of the food sits in you stomach for to long, causing it to ferment and transports to your fat cells. Our use and intake of water and along with regular exercise and “kale”, plays a remarkable role in improving our metabolism. The use of cold water in the morning is easily the cheapest and simplest way we can use to boost our metabolism. Drinking a very cold cup of water and taking a cold shower could really improve the quality of our mornings, days and lives in the long run. A cold glass of water right after waking up, also awakes our metabolism. The Body can only digest water after converting its temperature to match our internal body temperature. This process of conversion, puts the body to work and thereby, gets the metabolism started in an effective and healthy way. You will notice the first benefits of this from how bright and clear your eyes get. Drinking hot water or warm water in the morning also has its cleansing and beneficial effects, but i like doing that more at night because it keeps me hydrated at night while i am asleep and doesn’t get me as fired up when i am trying to wind down. Taking a cold shower on the other hand, besides improving metabolism, also improves mood, blood pressure, blood circulation, strengthens immune system, fights fatigue etc. Taking a cold shower makes blood rush towards you internal organs to protect them and taking a hot shower makes blood rush more outwards towards your skin. This process of rapid blood flow helps to improve metabolism. This could be very uncomfortable at first, especially in winter. However, once we get out of the shower after a cold bath, blood starts moving again gradually towards the skin, which will heat up the body very shortly after and also leaves you feeling very refreshed and motivated. This,in my opinion is a much better and effective way of waking up than drinking coffee. The body produces certain enzymes necessary to digest different food groups. Carbs start digesting in your mouth due to the enzymes in saliva, continues breakdown in the stomach and then get absorbed as simple sugar in the small intestine. proteins, on the other hand mainly gets digested in the stomach and different sources of protein require different digestive enzyme to be able to fully digest. The same is the case for fruits and vegetables requiring different enzymes. For this reason, it is better to not combine food groups to heavily. The stomach doesn’t produce enzymes for digesting different food groups at the same time. You also don’t want to combine a heavy Carb like rice with another heavy carb like Potato, nor combine heavy protein, steak with chicken. Doing this could make you feel slow and sluggish, because we use up a ton of energy while digesting. Bad food combination could also lead to gas, bloating, headaches, diarrhea, constipation, stomach aches…etc. How we consume water with our meals could also improve or impair our metabolism. Drinking water during meals tends to cause bloating and discomfort. This happens because water, which has the quickest digestion time, mixes with food and dilutes digestive juices in the stomach which significantly slows down digestion. To aid in better digestion, it is advised to drink 1–3 cups of water 20–45 minutes before a meal, none while eating and at least 45 minutes after eating. If you have to drink water during a meal, drink very tiny sips. Drinking Cold water with a greasy meal, freezes the fats and oils which will slow digestion even more. If you must drink water during meals, it would be more beneficial to drink hot water or tea which is most popular amongst asian culture. I mostly drink hot water 45–75 minutes after a heavy or greasy meal, as it tends to wash oil residues left along the digestive tracts.Being aware of what the body absorbs first could also help in speeding up metabolism and avoiding a traffic jam in your digestive system. Carbs digests faster than protein and although vegetables and fruits have a similar digestive time, Vegetables get absorbed first. Vegetables could help speed up digestion of other food groups whereas, fruits digests alone and last. Therefore, its been advised to eat fruits mostly on an empty stomach( after waking up or about 1–3 hours after a meal, depending on the meal). Water and juices/smoothes, digest the fastest because they’re already pre-digested/broken down upon entry. For the same reason, to get the most out of our meals, it should be chewed and ground as much as possible before swallowing, as this makes it much easier to digest. Chewing completely also means slowing down a bit while eating ,because it takes about 15–20 for the stomach to communicate to your brain that its full. Overfeeding is also a major course of improper digestion, so therefore also slows metabolism. However,If combing different foods,it would be much wiser to consume in the order of time it takes them to digest. Avoid eating slow digesting foods before those that digest quick to avoid a traffic jam(Sort of like letting the slower moving vehicles to go first on the highway.) A smoothie/salad with lots of fruits and vegetable at the same time could have an averse effect on someone with a slow metabolism. Certain foods eg. fruits, ferments and gets sent to your fat cells if they don’t digest within their absorption time, because after the body is done digesting the veggies, the fruits have already been waiting for the amount of time it would have taken to digest it. Food Sequencing will improve your metabolism. Look up food combination techniques and organization.Just about all the metabolic wastes in the body is acid. Eating a more alkaline diet is a good way to balance the bodies ph and get it more towards neutrality. Water has a Ph of 7, making it either Acidic nor alkaline(below 7=acidic, above=alkaline). A healthy body Ph level is between 6.2 and 6.9, which can only be achieved by eating a higher ratio of alkaline based foods(i aim for 80–20). Maintaining a good Ph in the body improves our metabolism by tremendously boosting our energy and also our immune system. Truth is, just about all animal products digests leaving an acidic residue in the body, while most plant products produces alkaline. The current state of the food is not what qualifies it as alkaline or acidic, it is what residue it produces in the body after digestion. A citrus fruit ,like lemon for instance, is very acidic in its current form, but leaves an Alkaline residue after digestion. Adding lemons to water is the easiest and faster way to maintain a good body Ph. Another easy ingredient that i add to water to help body Ph is apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar with the mother is a must to get its full benefits because it is in its unfiltered and unpasteurized form. An easy way to assimilate this into our daily routine, would be to add one or both of them to our “after wake up water”, as it hydrates us, alkalinizes our body and boosts metabolism right after waking up. I use apple cider in the mornings and lemons at different times during the day especially closer to when i exercise. Besides keeping the body system more alkaline, apple ciders works a lot of internal and external wonders in the body, most noticeable on our skin. (Look up apple cider vinegar). Most people get so caught up in looking good and end up cutting corners to achieve their dream physique. People are more focused on getting lean and maintaining muscle mass instead of focusing on health. In my quest to achieve optimal health, I decided to research what can improve my blood and bones, as opposed to how much micros and macros I eat, or my protein to fat to carbs ratio. Having a cleaner blood and stronger bone could positively improve metabolism. Many of us only think about minerals like selenium, potassium, manganese, magnesium, calcium, copper and many more in terms of the periodic table or something that can only be obtained from a supplement. pills, although helpful cannot replace whole foods, because they are not nearly on the same level. Its a lot beneficial reading about what different foods provides us than reading a blog or article that just tells you to eat your vegetables, because they are good for you. There are specific foods that works best for specific body parts. and functions. You can look up what foods can eliminate cellulites, dark circles, puffiness and heavy eye bags, to clean out the colon, oxidize blood and even random details like improving our lips. It would be a lot easier to incorporate into our diets by proper self education. A good and easy to read book would be “the beauty detox foods by Kimberly Snyder”. It outlines the top 50 foods to transform the way you look.(FOR DUDES: Its not gay to read about such thing because you are really helping yourself for especially when you get older). Having a terrible nutrition increases your chances of getting free radicals in your body which will increase the chances of getting cancer and for sure speeds up you aging. My favorite and most treasured investment over the last 4 years has been a Nutri-bullet( way better than a magic bullet). This is a very easy to use and easy to clean blender that completely pulverizes foods, leaving it in a pre-digested form and makes it easy to pack on more fruits, veggies, seeds and nuts into my daily diet. Jumping back to food combination, I generally don’t mix in fruits with my veggie smoothie with the exception of apples and pears. However, if it a smoothie is the first thing you have after waking up, this shouldn’t be a problem because the stomach is empty. Also mixing ginger and/or lemon in with my veggie smoothies helps with the pain of drinking this gag smoothie. For both veggie and fruit smoothies, I try having at least two leafy greens, one stalk vegetable, one root vegetable, one nut and one seed. I use a similar format for my fruit smoothies. To reap the full benefits, I purchase up to three/four of each kind from these categories, and switch up the way I use them in both smoothies, and on different days. I wasn’t a believer in caring about eating organic produce until i noticed the difference in the way they taste and look. I always hated eating a whole apple or a strawberry until i ate them in organic form. They taste way better in my opinion. The same goes with bananas. For looks, you can see a clear difference between modified kale, and organic kale. You would also notice, in some fruits and vegetables, a difference in colour between both forms of the same produce. However, i am not strict on eating organic as this can prove to be quite expensive. Apples and Kale have a soft membrane or outer layer so they are easily penetrated by poisons sprayed on them by companies looking to speed the growth and maximize profit. Others like Pineapples, sweet potatoes and avocados, although still better in organic form, are more resistant to these poisons. To get a guide on foods that should be eaten more in organic form, Look up “the dirty dozen”,it is a yearly update of the worlds most heavily sprayed and contaminated foods(Apples and strawberries have been the top dog for a long time). It gets easier to drink an all veggie smoothie after short while. On days I hate it the most and want to skip, I’ll ask myself why I am drinking it anyways? I choose incorporate a veggie or a fruit smoothie into my nutrition as a prescription for my blood and bones.Consuming weird healthy supplements like digestive enzymes, cholleral, spirulina, probiotics…etc also help improve general health and boosts metabolism. Digestive enzymes are sort of self explanatory. chollrella and spirulina; besides having a complete and high quality form of proteins, also helps flush out toxic wastes and heavy metals we get into our system from the environment and from food. Parsley and cilantro also aid in flushing out heavy metals. Probiotic supplements and home made probiotics like sauerkraut, kimchi and kombucha(tastes best), also improves metabolism and strengthens gut health by multiplying the culture of healthy bacterial already present in our guts. For more information on this ,visit an organic or natural foods farmers market. most of the staff are very enthusiastic about educating people about what they know. Another way of course is to Look it up!Improving blood flow recirculation through regular exercise, and building muscle through weight lifting, also improves our metabolism, respiratory system, and our total well being. Paying better attention to our blood and bones through nutrition, has a very positive correlation to our physical fitness gains. My best works-outs are done after a 2–10 mile run and this barely effects my muscle mass. I am 5′11 and 195 pounds and doing a lot of cardio doesn't interfere with my muscle gains. I find I can breathe a lot deeper and get in a better quality of air after my runs, which tend to help me lift heavier and more confident. Another important factor in getting a better quality of air, is by breathing deeply all the way to you stomach. most people tend to stop their breathe intake in their chests. Most of the time, this is due to bad body posture. I forced myself to practice good body posture and end the curse of the rounded shoulder syndrome by doing posture exercises. If your arms are not rested by your side when you stand in a neutral position, then you might have a bad posture. For starters i recommended intentionally throwing your shoulders as far back as possible with puffing out your chest(i also recommended walking, running and when possible while lifting eg bicep curls and standing triceps cable stuff). Another easy way of doing this is, crossing your arms behind you r back (like Morpheus from the matrix),while keeping your head up and standing tall. After some time, let your arms drop and keep your shoulders where they were. For a lot more tips on assuming good body posture, please look it up. Having a good posture, besides making you breathe better, also makes you look more confident, makes you look taller and gives you a much better balance and reflex. Imagine going down a flight of stairs, if you trip and you shoulders are rounded forward, it makes it harder to catch yourself because your shoulders are weighing you in that direction, and you might most likely hit the floor, with your face(ouchy,jk but not really). Building muscle on the other hand improves metabolism, because even while not exercising, they tend to burn calories slowly through out the day(kind of like a smart business person who makes money work for them). Think about a high rise(sky scrapper) building. If built without a rigid foundation or none at all, will crumple and fall apart first chance it gets. In contrast,if you are new to exercising, I personally recommend starting with a good cardiovascular training and extreme focus on strengthening the core with proper form. Many people use the term core interchangeably with abs. This is actually not accurate because abs are part of your core. The whole core is comprised of everything from below your chest to right above your knees, with your lower back and lip area being at the centre. The core represents the foundation of your body. Without developing a strong core, one could be more prone to injury and more likely to compromise on their lifting form. I always tell my friends that if all they can do at the gym is squats, deadlifts and cardio, thats already more than enough for getting a full body workout. If you don’t have access to a gym or cant afford it, there are a variety of home workouts you could do at home. Planks and burpees are my most recommended home workouts. You don’t need a personal trainer if you cannot afford one so you are not allowed this excuse. You can do what I did, watch and learn from people at the gym or even ask them for tips. people love to share what they know at the gym, especially when fired up with endorphins. If you don’t want to watch people or ask people for tips and still don’t know about proper form and home workouts, you can also look it up. There are thousands of very detailed explanation online, even I still watch videos about what I already know, or think I know. Although cardio might slow down muscle gains to a very small extent, I like to think of it more as heart gains which is where real power comes from. Running has always been my favorite cardio training because i sincerely love it. Running just like swimming and almost every sport and exercise, requires good form to be able to reap its full benefit and prevent injuries that might make one justify hating it. To learn more on running form , please look it up. There are pretty of videos on youtube and articles about it. My most recommended book and still one of my all time favorite books of all time is “Born to run by Christopher Mcdougall”. It is a book about a hidden tribe of super-athletes, the greatest race that ever happened and how running was very crucial to the evolution of our species. I have read/listened to this book over eight times and still get goosebumps every single time(the narrator really pulls you in). If you have an audible account, this is very worth the listen. It also highlights how the invention of running shoes also invented most running injuries. It really motivates me to run more just knowing how far the human body can go(we talking about some serious miles here). Making improvements on the respiratory system to be able to function better at a higher heart rate takes some time to kick in (about a month of consistency). It will take patience and for sure eating better.Getting a good nights sleep improves our overall well being including our metabolism. This is my weakest discipline but I am working on improving it. Our brain health increase through deep sleep, and also only during deep sleep does our body produce HGH(Human growth hormone), which is how we recover after a great workout. Please look more into this.Bonus:#for the kidsThis is actually more for parents. My quest for improving my diet and nutrition actually started from reading/listening to an audio book caledl “brain rules for babies”,by John Medina. The book outlines different ways to raising an intelligent and healthy child. I bought the book for my brother and his girlfriend but after I realized they were probably not going to read it, i decided maybe I can be a super uncle by reading it myself. This book mostly focuses on the rapid growth of a child especially between 1–5 years old. Although a lot of it was in the psychological and academic growth, the section about nutrition really struck home with me. I had never thought about how an improved nutrition could help boost brain power and thought this was gold because I really wanted to boost my very average academic performance. Besides boosting academic performance, this is really what adds more steam to the quote “you are what you eat”. It is true nature plays a role in our body composition and life in general, but it seems people use this to justify bad habits and also to cultivate a self-destrutive attitude towards health. Genetics is not destiny. During this rapid stage of growth, the organs in a child's body responds quicker and grows with whatever you feed the kids. If the core is the foundation of strength and balance for the whole body, Ages 1–5 are the strongest building blocks for an individuals live. If you feed a child a happy meal(MCGROSS), thats what grows their vital organs, nourishes their blood and bones, and grows their brain, not just in terms of size but also functioning to its maximum capacity. Feed them with “kale” and Kale instead, and gradually witness why it is called a super food.In conclusion, improving ones metabolism will take some work and persistence. And since it is almost impossible to single out just metabolism without improving other body functions, this is a good place to start and a good goal to single out and focus on improving. Out of all the the systems I have outlined and assimilate into my ways, the way I use water has always been the most consistent, even well I go through a down phase and my diet falls apart. With time however, I have come to appreciate down phases, because going back and forth a few times has made me very sensitive to my body. I now really appreciate the difference between healthy and unhealthy eating habits and how each makes me feel. People tend to self handicap their desire with wanting to eat healthier, by saying its expensive. But in truth, if you aim for the 80–20 ratio,(Alkaline-Acidic:Plants vs Animals) you might actually end up saving more money. I spend roughly $250 to no more than $400 on groceries each month, in contrast to upwards of $600 in my heavy meat eating days. A technique that helps me stay within budget is, not spending money on meats at a grocery store and therefore not cooking with it. But when I go over to my moms, I make sure to take a couple of empty tupper wears for take aways and when I eat out, I go all out for the greasiest thing on the menu and baptize it with lots of hot sauce, because its delicious and i put that s*?t on everything. Thanks for reading……..ANNNND If you make “Kale”the building blocks of your kids diet, I bet they will not grow up and join the poll of people that accuse people who work their butts of at the gym of having been blessed by genetics. This is probably the most self handicapping statements people use to impair their growth and health. Another myth with eating more plant based, is that it does have enough protein the body requires. If you eat a wide variety of “kale”, you get a more complete and much better quality of protein. Dr John Mcdougall, during his ted talk, “The food we were born to eat”, highlights how Starch, with the addition of fruits and vegetables, has been the most consistent diet in history and the diet of great empires and warriors. The similarities between the aztecs and Mayans(corn people), the Incas(potato and sweet potato people) and the asians(rice and vegetable people), is that they where trim, hardy, healthy, strong warriors. Please Look up, “plant based foods with highest sources of protein”. Just to be clear,i am by no means saying eating meat and animal products are unhealthy, but we need to eat them in moderation and be wary about their digestive process and how they hamper our metabolism. Processed foods on the other hand, although sometimes quite delicious,is GARBAGE.Most of the biggest and strongest animals in the world eg Hippos, Elephants ad Rhinos are vegetarians, meaning they get 100% of their Protein form eating plants. Point being, we really don’t need the middle man(cows and chickens) to survive. I read that in a book like Samwell Tarly. To get started eating “kale”, you don’t have to completely give up the whole of your current diet. Just add some Kale to your current prescription of Animal products and Poisson(processed foods). When you get started eating healthier and more nutritious, your cravings will reduce for poison. I suggest getting started with actual Organic kale and blueberries, because they are truly blessed.I swear i didn’t mean to write past five lines when i first saw this question. And im kinda getting hungry.Seriously though,If you don’t know much about kale, “LOOK IT UP!!!”

What is the other amount except tuition fee like for dormitory, for meals, for insurance, …etc we can see on Canadian university websites (some say 'Required').Cant't I rent an apartment on my desire and cook my self while studying there?

You *can* pay tuition and other mandatory fees, rent an apartment and walk, bus, or drive to your classes at most Canadian universities. However, if you are a foreign student, I really recommend that you spend at least your first year at university in Canada in a residence program. Why? You do not know the practicalities of living in the Canadian environment. Like most places in the world, if you don’t know how local markets work, how to compete, how to get value for money, how to arrange transportation, then living off campus can be a costly mistake. Costly in time and money. If you take University in Canada seriously, you will be studying, writing, working in labs, reading background material, engaging in group sessions. That is much easier when you live on campus. There is also a social aspect to student life that is important, and off campus living does not engage in that social experience in the same way. If you want the Canadian university experience, want to learn how Canadians think and feel, how they apply themselves to their studies and professions, what concerns them politically, socially and culturally, then stay in residence. If you rent an apartment you will spend a lot of time commuting and managing food and transport and communications and laundry and have an endless list of time consuming tasks related to your accommodation. The time you spend dealing with the mechanics of life off campus should really be spent learning your coursework, NOT learning how to “make it” in the community. In a residence program, all of those mechanics are streamlined for you and super convenient. Once you have been in Canada for a year and understand how the environment works, you might consider sharing an off campus apartment with a friend.About the weather - if you are going to University in British Columbia, you might find the Canadian weather cold and damp. Elsewhere in Canada? If you are from Scandinavia or Russia, or the northern areas of the USA or somewhere in central/north Europe you may be prepared for Canadian winters. If you come from a place without snow, you have NO idea how to even walk on snow and ice. Walking 2–5km to a class when it is -30c, with 30kph wind in your face can be not only uncomfortable, it can literally be life threatening. That isn’t every day weather, but it is the weather several days per year in most of Canada. You need to be in class those days.Living on campus in residence makes the weather and transportation problems much more manageable. Most residences have students that share classes with you, so you have cooperative study partners. Most residences have a “Don”, or a member of faculty whose role is to arrange social events and ease the academic process for new students. Most campus residences are a very short walk to class and labs.Your religion requires special time and privacy? Most universities have a chapel that is available for prayer and a chaplain who will support you and arrange private times for any religion. Music? Headphones work very well. Sex? Privacy? You are worried that your personal habits may be disturbed? Make an arrangement with your room mate that privacy is necessary if the door to the room is locked and has a string around the door knob. You are repulsed by or are transsexual? Homosexual? Promiscuous? Celibate? Physically handicapped? Have mental health issues? These are situations that should be discussed in advance with the Dean or Don of your residence program so that appropriate accommodation can be made. You will find that most residence programs are sensitive to your requirements, but that a standard of behaviour and code of ethics is expected. That code is typically of a “live and let live” nature, unless you are attending a University with a particular religious emphasis. When I went to University, it was *possible* to live in the community in a shared apartment and purchase groceries and cook for about the same amount of money as living in residence with a full meal plan, but it was a very low standard of living.I just checked the numbers from the University of New Brunswick’s website. It costs around ca$12,000 for a room and full meal plan. This is extremely good value, and if you live off campus you would be very hard pressed to find an apartment and purchase groceries, and travel by bus to campus on that budget. Campus meal plans tend to include foods suitable for international students, vegetarians, or even vegans. Halal or kosher are also typically available, although you may have problems if you insist on a kosher kitchen or some religiously significant preparation of your food.My University publishes their fees program by program on this page UNB tuition and charges by program. They also give detailed fee descriptions detailing what each fee covers.Residence options are shown here Rates and Fees and the dining plan prices are also given. All the other fees? In most Canadian universities, you will pay for health insurance, laboratory fees, text books, counseling services, student union fees, access to the library, the student newspaper, the student radio station, computer and internet access, organization of industry internships, campus policing services, parking, campus orientation weeks, marking and examination fees, professional societies, social societies. Some of those fees will be mandatory and some will be voluntary. ALL are priced at very reasonable levels (except text books) compared to prices you would pay for similar services on the open market. In addition to living in residence, I recommend participation in some social programs. One, whatever ethnic or religious student association most appeals to you. They will know what ethnic foods, books, news from home, travel arrangements are best for you, and you will hear your own native language. They may offer English as a second language, tutored in your own language. All these things are helpful and comforting when you live abroad. Two, whatever professional society is relevant to your studies. I was a member of the student engineering society when I was a student. They offered group buying for drawing tools, software, calculators and computers, and registration as a junior in the Engineering profession. And finally, I recommend you do one society for entertainment. If you play cricket, join the team. If you like media, join the newspaper or radio station. If you are a musician, dancer or actor join the drama society. ALL of those activities are important to your social environment and university learning experience. Remember, Universities are intended to expose you to universal knowledge, culture, debate and discussion of not only ideas in your field, but also expose you to a broader understanding of the world. Canada is very good about embracing outside knowledge and perspectives. Participate in those three programs. It is important. One learning experience taken from my time at University? If budget is an issue for you, I recommend that you research what textbook the professor of each course prefers early and buy used textbooks in the campus bookstore or online or directly from senior students who took the course last year. When I went to university, the most dismaying costs were textbook prices, not food or accommodation or tuition. This was particularly true in senior years where the books became more and more expensive because of specialization, and less and less relevant to the course work. I know people who checked textbooks out of the university library and kept them for the duration of the course. That’s hard on other students, but the library fines were lower than the price of the books, and they returned them in the end. If you are trying to live on $100 in spending money per month, and perhaps your textbook for Math 3030 - Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations in Engineering Applications costs $450, and your professor refers to it three times during the course, you can feel somewhat resentful. Particularly if you are taking six such courses.Apart from the practical issues? Canadian University education is surprisingly uniform across the country. Personally, I believe that it is some of the highest quality education in the world. It is inexpensive compared to many other countries, and well respected. If you take your academic work seriously you will graduate competent in whatever field you study. That can not be said for many universities in North America or around the world. And, you will have a great learning experience!Welcome - and - good luck!
