Years ago in college. I interviewed for a supervisor spot at a movie/book store. Interview went great, I nailed it, the manager is excited to start me and I fill out my background and a few days pass and nothing… I call back and am told sorry the position isn't available. I worked elsewhere in school, not really a problem, but I was really excited there for that one.A couple years later I apply for my first real gig in my field with my new shiny degree. He realizes I probably wasn't on work release from prison while serving overseas as the times for the two overlapped. They kept the hire date and went through a different background check company that I guess was a little more reliable and sure enough that one came back clean. I guess same name, same city, similar address type situation.Nevertheless. I did find out why my career at Borders didn't work out. On the plus side, working at Chili's really cut down on my food costs.

They won’t. The background check is performed while you stand there. They will hold the gun until it passes and then immediately transfer it to you. Usually they’ll walk with you to the front of the store and hand it to you. Once the check passes it is your property and outside of you signing the Form 4473 to release it to your possession, they cannot keep the gun any longer.
