PDF Editor FAQ

Am I a guest in your reality or are you a guest in mine?

Both ways. Here’s why:—You’re definitely a guest in my reality. You’re just a disembodied question coming through to me from an online service through my data cables from my ISP. Nothing could be further from my reality than you.Right now, I’m sitting in the office at 12.44 pm local time, with a beer on my right (yes, I allow beer during office hours at the workplace — real enough?), my office diary on my left, and a petty-cash voucher pad in front of my keyboard. Real enough for me.I am definitely a guest in your reality.Once I press the “Submit” button and this answer reaches you. The above applies for you. Self-explanatory. Real enough for you.

Why in Indian Railways we can travel by waiting list tickets taken from the railway counter, but why not on the online waiting list ticket?

I think it's because when we pay online the IRCTC team has the right information of the person who made the payment and when they cancel the ticket and return the money they know that the money will be gone in right hands and not to any other person as the money will be credited directly to the bank account. On the other hand if we book ticket offline through ticket counter there might be chance the person misplace the physical ticket and some other person gets it and claims the money or the thief on railway station might go for tickets rather than going for wallets to claim the money. Also if physical payment is made there will be lots of paperwork to be done like to keep the petty cash available, maintain petty cash record every shift, maintain claimed vouchers, maintain voucher report, submitting vouchers, claiming money for the voucher to clear the vouchers from petty cash, etc. This will be lots of of paperwork, lot of manpower or stress if no manpower is made available, and also will be time consuming. Whereas online refund is simple and easy to track the person made the booking.

Whats are the incentive for merchant to push customers to use WeChat and Alipay in China?

I think I’ll try to answer this question given that I have been exploring this with my wife’s Pilates training business for the pass year with good results. There are many incentives covering various spectrums to using wechat and Alipay as a payment service for a merchant in China.Financial Savings - Using Wechat and Alipay helps to cut the cost of sale. There are minimal charges involved in using them compared to other options like credit cards or even cash. When it comes to payment pheriperals, all you need is either a smart phone or a piece of paper with your payment QR code printed on it. No need for cost intentsive machines and POS systems. After receiving the payment, you can keep the monies in your digital wallet as cash flow at no charge since about 99% of businesses in China allows you to pay them using the same. If you choose to withdraw them to your bank account, the charges are minimal at 0.1%, alot cheaper than credit card companies…or even paypal. When compared to cash, you save on trips to the bank for deposits. This makes more sense even for retail business running multiple branches across the country collecting a lot of payments daily. Financials are easily consolidated with minimal financial logistics. In fact what I heard from security escort companies is that they are running out of businesses except with the banks since there are about 70% lesser escort service required compared to 5 years ago. Such costs are saved into profits or lowered pricing for consumer benefits, which in turns encourage economic consumption as a whole.Financial profitabilty - Most current accounts for businesses provided by banks does not give interest returns. Wechat and Alipay provide investments options for the money you store in your digital wallet. Guaranteed Returns are at about 3%–6% per annum on average depending on the investment vehicles. Now you can get interest returns for even your petty cash. Most of these investments vehicles are paid on a daily basis and you can withdraw them within 2 hours of request through your phone. This is especially attractive for small business that needs a cashflow of up to RMB 100K as you can use these cash to earn futher profit for the business instead of letting the cash just sit in the drawer trying to keep pace with inflation.Merchant support - Both Alipay and Wechat have their own promotion agendas. Both are still fighting for the dominant position in the retail sector in China. And this means offering promotion mechanics to attract consumers to use their services.E.g Over the Chinese new Year period, both Wechat and Alipay set aside about 10billion RMB on discounts in the form of digital Red packets for consumers using their payment methods. In this sense, merchants willingly encourage the use of mobile payments as such discounts and promotions ends up at zero cost to them. Both Wechat and Alipay also have paid promotions platforms for merchants wanting to promote their businesses more agressively. Wechat invested in Meituan while Alipay have their own Koubei apps which are very popular in China for business promotions platforms. They are like the very sucessful version of Groupon in China. Wechat also integrated payments for business wechat pages. There are also many wechat apps for businesses that allows payment directly to the business.E.g. my wife wechat business account allows her students to book classes and pay for them directly on the app. She can also set discounts and issues vouchers for potential customers through wechat.Wechat moments can also provide promotions ads to your business page if you want (Very much like how facebook does it). Such promotion platforms attracts small businesses who do not have much budget for marketing or do not know where/how to market effectively.Customer Service - I find this especially useful on Wechat. Customers can contact you directly on wechat and you can provide customer service on the go. This channel is available 24/7 as long as someone (a staff or you) have the phone with them.Lifting geograhical restrictions - I’m currently trying to work out online classes for my wife to teach via video conferencing on wechat. The idea came about because I saw tuition teachers teaching through video conferencing on wechat. This removes the geographical factors restraining a business. My wife can be teaching her Pilates classes to students in Harebin while having a holiday in Sanya through this method. And most importantly, payment is not a problem as they can pay directly through wechat no matter where they are, they don’t have to go to a bank to transfer money to you. In fact, the closing of any sale can be done this way. Consulting, training, product sales, etc. Customers can pay you easily while having a video conference with you, this brings down the barriers to closing a customer 2000km away from you. I agree that you can do the same even if you are not usng wechat to do this, but the app itselfs provides all these functions and you only need your phone to do all these, it reduces the cost required to setup something like that and makes it available to a lot of businesses.Ease of Consolidation - As all transactions are digital, they are all recorded and sorted easily. Merchants will no longer have a headache trying to go through a pile of transaction slips. The transactions can be searched easily usng the built in search feature. Daily Consolidation will also be simpler since payments are all consolidated onto 2 platforms. Most Important Factor, wide spread usage - Wechat and alipay as I mentioned previously already have a very high market penetration rate. It is very hard to find businesses who don’t accept both payment methods. Many consumers (domestic locals) in China, basically do not carry cash. You are looking at a market of 1.2 billion consumers of which 80% do not carry cash when they go out. Credit card penertration is low, most people I know in China don’t even know how to write a cheque. So as a business, if you tell your customers that you only accept cash, credit card or cheques, you’ll lose a lot of customers who don’t want to queue up at a ATM.Note that the circumstances I mentioned above is unique to China. The factors above might not attract businesses or indivduals in other countries to adopt them as payment methods since the whole economic development history is different.
