PDF Editor FAQ

Why does social media seem to be more compatible with radio than other traditional media?

There's two parts to this as I see it.Rights management is FAR simpler with radio than with video content (assuming that's what you mean by "other traditional media?" Film & television shows, the distribution rights are often much muddier and messier.Customer Engagement. How many TV stations or Film Studios (or Production Companies) have you heard of that have call-in phone lines where someone can actually *talk* with someone who is either curating or in some cases, performing the media being broadcast? Radio stations (or podcasters) are highly dependent upon actually connecting with their fans.I think that fan interaction with radio stations and DJ's is really an interesting media programming feedback loop, and is pretty much absent from traditional media programming.Though it'd be great if you could "live curate" your own linear streaming traditional media channel, I think that'd be pretty cool:) (traditional rights-holders would probably go nuts... *sigh*)

What is your favorite online medium to contribute writing?

Quora by far.I learn faster using Quora because I get great feedback via:upvotes to views ratio and other statsoccasional publishing to traditional mediaTop Writer and Question Writer awards (including me failing to get Top Writer in 2013)DMs from appreciative readerscomments thanks to Quora’s culture, real name and BNBR policies, and enforcementmultiple great startup cofounders (including a female CTO) that found me via Google search (thanks in part to Quora’s good SEOQuora’s publishing, marketing, writer relations teams and other Quora team members are terrific to me. Quora seems intent on keeping writing quality high,I made several good, real-life friends through Quora.I share deals with a couple VCs and experts I met through Quora.Publishing on traditional media sites is not worth it. Contributors generally don’t get many views. I haven’t even bothered trying. One of my Quora answers went viral and got over 560,000 views. I’m not sure traditional media can do much better unless I want to be a reporter at Buzzfeed.Facebook posts are not evergreen. I don’t get wide distribution from them.Medium is full of startup group think and growth hackers. (1)Kind of pompous to write a blog and expect others to read it. Maybe I’ll get there someday but I’d rather focus on answering questions at least one real person than blog.Twitter is full of fake retweets and faves.reddit is full of trolls. No one reads my blog on my website. No one reads my blog at Harvard Law School.WordPress is a pain to set up.I’d rather eat soap than connect with random people on LinkedIn.Preferred way to connect with me (ranked most to least):1. What aspects of the Groupon system do merchants like [compared to traditional advertising]?

No upfront cost of running a groupon. No sign up fee, no listing fee. No marketing feeYou pay only when you sell - its a pay-on-sale model. Local merchants have never had this ever! They are used to traditional media where you pay not knowing how much will come back. When they run a Groupon, they pay (a fee to Groupon) only when they get a customer (and that too fully paid already)Technology to understand and run their business smartly - access to the merchant mobile app (to redeem groupons), the merchant center (which gathers feedback from the customers, gives them demographic information on the customers, tells them how the Groupons are being used on a daily basis etc) - https://merchants.groupon.com/New customers - all said and done, merchant get access to new customers in a short period of time. No other medium comes close to delivering such throughput.Happy to share screenshots of the merchant center, if required.
