Advising Approval Form: Fill & Download for Free

Here in WA, no - there is an approved form that you are supposed to provide to a caregiver that is called the “Physician Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment” or POLST. It is supposed to be transported between care providers as a part of your medical history, but it is advisable that anyone with such an order or concern physically carry a copy of the order on their person, should this not occur.http://www.doh.wa.gov/ForPublicHealthandHealthcareProviders/EmergencyMedicalServicesEMSSystems/DoNotResuscitate

Take the initiative in meetings with your supervisor. Don’t expect him or her to instantly remember where the conversation left off last time, nor to prompt you about tasks you are supposed to be working on. Be prepared at each meeting toGive a bit of context about your current goals and what was discussed at the previous meeting.Explain what you’ve accomplished since the last meeting. That might include preparing a chart or graph, or a few slides of summary.Get help on aspects of the work you are having problems with.State your intentions for the next tasks you plan to work on.Remind your advisor of any administrative actions he or she needs to take on your behalf (signing your plan of study, submitting your committee approval form).Ask about longer term plans: preparing a paper for a particular conference, scheduling of the thesis proposal.Obviously, your advisor might interject with questions, offer suggestions, point you in a slightly different direction. But being prepared to move the meeting along will make advising you seem like less of a chore.

This will depend on what university you attend. My program allowed a general masters in mechanical engineering, but also offered some tracks.I chose the general option. For that, I had a few limited requirements, but then just had to have my adviser approve my courses. The basic requirement was that they formed a cohesive group of courses that led to my goal.They also offered a track in thermo-fluids and I believe the second one was in manufacturing & design.If you really know what field you want to get into, then the track option can give you some really good specialized experience.
