I don't know what interests you, so I will tell you what I would do, that interests me.I would go to Churchill Downs, even if there was no racing. The Derby Museum is fascinating. If there was racing going on, I would watch at least one race, and place a $2.00 bet. I would go to the Big Four bridge, and walk from Kentucky to Indiana. I would go to the Speed Art Museum, and look at some of the best art exhibits in the world. I would walk through the grounds at the University of Louisville Belknap campus, and feed the albino squirrels. I would go to Kentucky Kingdom, and ride the waves at the water park. I would go to the Louisville Zoo, and experience a world class zoo, where people legitimately love the animals in their care. I would walk down 4th Street Live on a late Friday afternoon, listening to the musicians playing music in the hope of a few dollars. I would go to the Ballet, and to Actors theater, for a fantastic play, and then go to Jeff Ruby’s for a fantastic Anniversary dinner. I would walk down to 21c Museum, for cocktails and a world class dinner. On Saturday afternoon I would go to Captains Quarters, sitting outside on the riverbank, watching boats go by, and drinking beer with my friends. Before I left I would book Valentine's Day for a cruise with my wife, or a Mother's Day cruise with my wife and in laws. I would go to Mike Linnings for a South End fish sandwich, sitting outside under two hundred year old trees, with my feet in the gravel. I would ride my bike along the “louisville loop” and remind myself to ride the entire 100 mile route when the entire thing opens. I would go to St. Joseph's Church, in Butchertown, and try to be there for the Oktoberfest, or perhaps for the Sunday when the dancing horse will be there. I would go to Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium for the Trinity Saint Xavier game, and wonder at the fact that a world class college stadium can be filled for a HIGH SCHOOL football game, and that students from both schools with an intense rivalry would also be fantastic friends.Louisville is a world class city, with friendly people, who love visitors. You can be from the other side of the world, but we will treat you like a neighbor.You will love Louisville, I promise.
