I wish to highlight the ordeal one might have to go through if their car breaks down. My experience is based on the services provided on the Mumbai-Pune Express Highway and Lonavala city.Yesterday, my uncle was on his way to satara when his car stalled in the ghat section of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. His car is Mahindra Logan CNG/Petrol 1.6. Now this was the first major highway run after getting the car, it ran butter smooth until the ghat section when it started to sway a little. Assuming a puncture, he stopped the car on the side and there was none.The car wouldn't start after this point. Then he decided to call their roadside assistance (crossroads) helpline ,35 minutes after the phone call their mechanics came and found that car has a serious engine failure and cud not get repaired at that point my uncle was in big tension wat to do where to leave car,the crossroads guys told them to make a request to towing my uncle said yes to towing and within an hour there was a towing vehicle came to help him.after knowing the yesterday’s incident from my uncle I too decided to have roadside assistance cover and bought it from crossroads just now.

I live in NYC, population of just over 8 1/2 million. My family owns property in a small town in upstate New York State, population of 757. The population of the entire county is 47,625.In NYC, when someone has a fire in their apartment, the FDNY responds, puts the fire out, Social Services assists the family, if necessary to find temporary housing, and the landlord (property owner) repairs the apartment, generally less than 6 months. Upstate, the volunteer fire department responds, puts out the fire. The family stays with friends and neighbors, who come by to help clear out the house, and board it up as necessary. The insurance agent assesses, and maybe/maybe not, the home is repaired. Many times, the homeowner repairs the home, with the assistance of neighbors.In NYC, people are isolated; the elderly and infirm may get deliveries from Meals on Wheels, Visiting Nurse may stop by, possibly, they may get visits from a social services agency. Upstate, there is also Meals on Wheels (prepared at one church, delivered by another, with the vegetables contributed from, of all places, a Buddhist Monastery, and local farmers), but the letter carrier will stop by to have a cup of coffee with Mrs. So and So, who was widowed last year, neighbors will drive neighbors to the supermarket and “stop by” with a “plate”.The difference is that in the rural areas, it’s much more personal and local, and the level of social services in the cities have taken on that job.Many people in rural areas resent the percentage of their taxes that go to pay for the cities, and the social services therein. The bulk of the tax monies that are spent on mass transit when there is nothing but Greyhound service near them. City dwellers bemoan potholes and highway repair, when the rural area must fight to get a road paved, period.The Republican party has traditionally been the party of conservative spending, less, what the rural people see as “hand outs”. My upstate neighbors would rather go hungry than accept food stamps.But keep in mind, that farmers have received federal benefits that city dwellers would resent.
