Use the Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology subject content specifications on the ETS website to guide you on what you are expected to know.As far as subject material, I used the following books:Biochemistry: Biochemistry by Judith G. GriffithsMolecular Biology: Molecular Biology of the Gene by WatsonFor additional perspectives, I used courses from iTunesU and listened to lectures on subjects that I needed even more clarification.As far as assessing how well I understood any given subject, I downloaded exams/answer keys from various institutions. I only took the practice exam provided by the ETS in the last 3 weeks, after I had reviewed all the subjects in which I felt I was weak.

It is the standardised test used to get admissions in various graduate schools or business graduate schools in various English speaking countries, especially the United States. More than 100,000 graduate school applicants from approximately 160 countries take the GRE General Test at 700 test centers. Aspirants interested in pursuing a master's degree, specialised master's course, MS, MBA, MEM or doctoral degree can sit for the GRE Test. In addition to the GRE revised general test, there are seven GRE subjects tests that evaluate candidates’ knowledge in their respective field. GRE test is conducted by the Educational Testing Service (ETS).GRE Test Syllabus 2017: The GRE test is available in two formats. They are GRE General Test and GRE Subject Test. The GRE 2017 Test Syllabus is different for both the formats. While the GRE General test measures a candidate’s verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking and analytical writing skills, the GRE Subject Test judges the candidate’s expertise in specific fields like Biology, Literature, mathematics, among others. The difference in both the formats is reflected in the GRE test pattern. Also, both the tests use different yardsticks to evaluate the candidate's ability. While the GRE general test is scored on a scale of 130-170, the subjects tests are scored on a 200-990 scale.As per the GRE test syllabus 2017, the GRE for general test format is covered in three sections. They are: Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning and Analytical Writing.Verbal Reasoning:The verbal reasoning section includes three types of questions- Reading Comprehension, Text Completion and Sentence Equivalence. It uses passages from Science, History/Social Studies, and Fiction to test how well you ‘interpret, synthesize, and use evidence from a wide range of sources’. In addition to questions about the passages, it will also have questions that require you to interpret accompanying tables, charts, and graphs. What matters is how carefully you read the passages and answer the questions based on what you have read. Consistent timed practice with reliable material and taking full-length tests are ways in which you can improve your scores. Just reading and comprehending do not get you points. Thus the section actually turns out to be a test of your ability to answer the questions rather than just your ability to read and comprehend.One passage in each test will be from a US Founding Document or from a document on a related theme from elsewhere; these documents will typically be on themes such as justice, liberty, equal rights, dignity, and governance. Though there are no prescribed books you can read to prepare for the test, a familiarity with the historical context of the US Founding Documents and the vocabulary used in such passages will help.The SAT tests Command of Evidence explicitly. A number of questions will ask which part of the text provides the evidence for the answer to the previous question.The New SAT does not ask questions that require you to know obscure and uncommon words. Vocabulary in Context questions will ask about words from the passage. These are often common, familiar words used in in unusual ways or with their secondary, less common meanings. You need to develop habit and skill to use clues from the context to figure out what the words mean.However, improving your vocabulary should be part of your SAT preparation. Since the Reading passages are often complex and sometimes technical or abstract, good vocabulary skills will help you to understand the passages better and answer the questions more easily.The Writing and Language TestThe Writing section tests your knowledge of grammar and punctuation and the effective use of language. Fortunately, SAT tests you on just a handful of common grammar rules. By mastering those rules and having a systematic approach you can ace these questions with ease. Definitions of rules are not tested; what is tested is the correction and identification of errors.Some grammar concepts and rules that you will need to know are subject- verb agreement, pronoun usage, parallelism, and modifiers. Therefore, knowing the test is more important than just studying academic content. That’s why we at Manya-The Princeton Review believe that the SAT just tests “how good you are at taking the SAT”.The EssayFor the SAT essay you have to do a Rhetorical Analysis of a given text, typically a speech or an article. You are not asked to present your own views on the subject. The task is to explain the methods the author uses to build the argument and what effect these have on the audience. You need to support your assertions with evidence from the text.To prepare for the essay, you must learn to identify and analyze different stylistic devices and types of appeals used in persuasive writing, and practice how to describe them in a coherent essay. I’m not going to physician school but going to nursing school is brutal. My experience studying for my tests especially starting brand new in the medical field has me studying daily roughly 5–6 hours at least. Reading books, watching videos, doing several hundred questions daily. I can only assume physicians have more to learn since they are learning different and more invasive procedures.As a nursing student I had to take my prereqs which constituted the following: Lifespan Development, Anatomy & Physiology 1+2, Microbiology, Psych 101, and the main english and math classes. Oh yes and I needed sociology as well. After that I had to sit for the NLN test, some people need the TEAS. I needed to have at least a B in these classes in order to apply. I had my interview and then they accepted me after passing the test, interview and filling out the application.After two years you take your finals and then your state exam (NCLEX) you become an RN and if you choose to you can go for your BSN and then MSN and if you feel really comfortable your Ph.D.When dealing with a physician’s assistant program…You are normally doing your prereqs followed by obtaining a bachelor’s degree in any study. This can be biochemistry or even an art degree. My understanding is that most schools prefer their applicants have science degrees. After this you take the MCAT/GRE which is the entrance exam for most medical schools. Once you pass that you get into a medical school after going through the same process (interview, application, and showing proof of bachelor’s degree) Most schools need their applicants to have high GPA’s but there is some leniencies regarding certain situations.After that you take your finals and the state exam and then you will have to have a residency somewhere where you are training at a hospital normally.The differences..It takes roughly 6 years of serious studying to become a physician assistant. You will have your bachelor’s degree as well as take a 2–3 year physician assistant school.RN’s can take 2–3 years roughly.. RN’s can learn on the job everything that a doctor knows I believe with time because you’re monitoring patients, labs, reading what meds are being given to their patients. Nurses many times can question doctor orders and many doctors respect nurses opinions if they know the nurse they are dealing with has lots of experience dealing with patients. They’re in the front lines. What I will say RN’s won’t have the same influence as a nurse practitioner, CRNA or any other advanced nurses with higher degrees.When it comes down to it I think Physician’s assistants make more money than an RN but it’ll take you longer to take the physician’s assistant route. It all depends on the amount of schooling you are willing to take really. If you decide to take the Nurse practitioner role there are many states that allow nurse practitioners their own practice. In many states NP’s also make more decisions and have more responsibilities than physician’s assistants.Both are great careers and it’s a beautiful thing to be able to know how to care for a person who has a serious condition. I got into nursing because my mom suffered a TIA. Now I can monitor her BP and I can understand what my mom is going through when she is dealing with maybe something as innocuous as the flu or a cold.Good luck!
