My first post here.Having recently created an account here on Quora, I think I’m starting to love this site. Such an awesome community, tons of great questions & answers!Back to the topic. I for one never considered myself as photogenic, so there aren’t many photos of me taken by others (even up to today). Well, cause back then I had always felt I looked fugly. To give you an idea:Yep, that was me in high school, at the age of 13. That was the photo of my student card, which has since become a keepsake (I’m a hoarder btw).Fast forward 12 years later:That was me 2 years back, photo taken around June 2014 during my passport application.So, do I think I look p̶r̶e̶t̶t̶i̶e̶r̶/handsomer? You judge. For me, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I still don’t consider myself an attractive looking lad, but one thing for sure is that losing a lot of weight has definitely boosted my self-esteem and morale. This is easily one of my proudest achievements in life thus far, besides having scaled the highest mountain in Malaysia, Mount Kinabalu, of course.As for the stats, I didn’t really track the numbers, but the heaviest I have been was about 93kg, and the lightest was 72.4 kg. This comes to a weight loss of ~20kg (44 pounds). I’m 6 ft tall btw.Bonus: This was chubby little Jason during his kindergarten years:ps: Don’t ask how I did it.

The Case of the Backfiring Porch Pirate Dummy Package:There was an unauthorized charge to my credit card for some audio equipment, ordered from a large web retailer. About two thousand dollars’ worth.The credit card people saw it was odd, contacted me, and I agreed; I had ordered no such thing. Charge reversed; all good.Well, almost.My impersonator had actually set up an account under my name at the web site. Complete and accurate details; address, phone, email, and, of course my Ccard info. But all of that, except the card info. is easy enough to pick up on the ‘net. The card data was stolen by someone at a local restaurant. I changed the login and P/W for the web site account, locking out the one who had set it up.And there was a FedEx tracking number.So I tracked it: and there the package was, sitting in a depot just over the mountain, scheduled for delivery to me two days later.Which could only mean that someone other than me would be picking up the package from my front porch.That’s an uncomfortable sensation.But then I saw that the destination address had been changed. By the seller, I assumed, who wanted to pull it back.And that could mean someone would show up at my house, to find an empty porch.If they assumed I had brought the shipment inside, it might mean they would deploy less than honorable means to retrieve it, from me.And that’s an uncomfortable sensation.Thus I thought I should prepare a “dummy” shipment to sit on the front porch. I procured a box of appropriate size, and loaded it with some old lawn mower wheels, to produce the appropriate weight.Then I got down to business, to produce an authentic FedEx shipping label:Pretty good, no?But if you scan the bar code, it will return the word, “asshole.”Anyway, I affixed this label to the box, plus others such as are usually found on items making their way through the system, and set the box on my front porch, a corner peeking out over the steps.No one showed up for a few days. Sigh of relief.Until a UPS driver appeared with a call tag for the original seller! Evidently, they thought I had actually received the package! And sent UPS to retrieve it.I stepped out to meet the UPS driver, who is reaching for the dummy package. “No, no,” said I. “This is a dummy package.” And I attempted to explain the situation.He of course didn’t believe a damn thing I said. I’m not sure I would have, were I in his place.But he left, without the package. God knows what he has reported up the chain of command.Need some lawn mower wheels?Steal my package. It’s still out there.[EDIT]: Some readers think the UPS guy was the crook, and that the call tag was phony. No. The seller did (accidentally) issue the call tag; they told me so in a phone call. And if the UPS guy was the crook, he certainly went to a lot of trouble to procure an actual UPS truck, and to mimic the appearance of the driver who often serves this street.Likewise some concern about my address and phone on the label. So what? Is everyone going to start calling me? Dropping by for cocktails, maybe. That information has been available for YEARS on my web sites.
