Ohio Form 2016: Fill & Download for Free

I was originally going to write this as a comment, but instead I will write this as an original response.The short answer is that it does not assure a fairer vote. The Electoral College, at least in its modern form, defeats its own purpose. Its intent was to keep a few states from determining the election. But as America has become so politically polarized, and the majority of states have become so predictable in how they’ll vote, only a handful of states determine the election. And we all know who they are.When was the last time you saw a general election candidate campaigning in Cheyenne, WY? When was the last time you saw a candidate campaigning in Tacoma, WA? When was the last time you saw a candidate campaigning in Birmingham, AL, or Olathe, KS, or Boston, MA?They don’t. They campaign in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, and North Carolina.(Campaign visits in the 2016 general election)Millions of people live in Texas, millions of people live in California, millions of people live in New York, and Illinois, and Washington State. Together, they got a total of 4 visits. All those people, and that’s how much the candidates care about them. Meanwhile, the aforementioned four states got a total of 228 visits, more than the rest combined.And it has an effect on policy. Do you really think Obama’s auto bailout (paid for by our tax dollars) would have happened if it had benefitted New York State or Alaska or Arkansas? Hell no. But it benefitted Ohio, a state that is crucial for Republicans to win the White House. Obama subsequently won Ohio handily and thus the election.The Electoral College needs to be abolished because it disenfranchises millions of Americans, both urban and rural. The argument that, absent the electoral college, only urban voters will decide the election, is a garbage argument. Look at that wide swath of “fly-over country” that is virtually ignored every single year. It’s true that urban areas will have a big say in who wins — and rightly so, as a big chunk of Americans live there. But rural voters do not benefit much from the current system either. The biggest beneficiaries of the Electoral College system are swing voters, usually in the suburbs, of a select few states. Not ranchers in Wyoming, not coal miners in Kentucky, not Puerto Ricans in the Bronx, and not farmers in the middle of North Dakota. Suburban voters in a few states. Suburban voters are not reflective of America as a whole.Dr. Paul*I think at this point it’s fair to assume the Electoral College will still be there when we have the 2020 elections. Ohio will probably see fewer visits by Democrats. Their visits will increase in Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Minnesota. Republicans will probably put less focus on North Carolina and play some defense in Arizona and Pennsylvania. Still, places like Utah, Vermont, and South Carolina will be ignored.

My wife won this Honda Civic on The Price Is Right, back in 2016.Nothing happens until after the show airs. We were sworn to secrecy until then. She had to sign non-disclosure paperwork stating that we would tell nobody or risk forfeiture of all prizes. We had to keep this secret for ten weeks, until our show finally aired.A few weeks after air date CBS mailed our California non-resident state income tax bill, for 7% of the value of the car. (In our case, 7% of $22k or $1540). Again nothing happens until they receive that payment, in a certified check! A few more weeks passed before Honda of Hollywood, who had provided the car, called to arrange delivery.We assumed they would just have us pick up the car locally rather than ship it, because we were living in Buffalo, New York. But it’s up to the local California dealer, and they chose to ship it to New York. (Probably because they get full credit from Honda on the sale, and get it off their lot. It was late in the year and the new models were coming in.)We waited over a month for them to finalize shipping. The show aired in early November and we didn’t get it until February. They ended up putting it on a private carrier who was bringing miscellaneous cars cross-country. He delivered it to our closest WalMart parking lot on a Sunday night at 11PM! We had to nervously drive it home without license plates in the dead of night!Now the story gets crazy.We went to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) the next day to get the plates and title. They wanted a “Bill of Sale”, which of course we didn’t have. “We won it on Price Is Right,” we explained. Word got around the DMV office and everyone was congratulating us. Finally the “supervisor” had to get involved. They determined we needed a Certificate of Origin. We weren’t given that either. All we had was the tax bill from CBS. We called the dealer; they didn’t have it. They had to call the Honda factory in Ohio for that. So that took the whole week to sort out.We left empty-handed but finally got the plates on our next DMV visit a week later. We still have the car three years later and LOVE IT! The rear plate holder is the one given to all car winners and says, “I won this car on The Price Is Right”. The front plate holder is “HONDA of HOLLYWOOD”. Both make for great conversation pieces! [I filed down the screws on the rear plate to prevent someone the temptation of stealing it!]Fast-forward to the following January and the 1099-MISC arrives from CBS. We were prepared to pay federal tax on the car and had put money aside. What we didn’t anticipate was that the extra $22000 would push us into a higher tax bracket. So we paid more than anticipated. The tax software makes it easy to calculate with car and without car taxes, and the “with car” tax differential amounted to 31% of the car, or an extra $6800. We got all that California pre-paid tax back (filing non-resident form), but ended up paying it (7%) to NY State instead.Total taxes: 38% or $8372.Was it worth it? Hell yes!

Im going to answer, regarding the word “rich” as monetary value.I lived with a guy for about 3 months.When I first came into the house, he had a playstation 3, playstation 4, xbox one, xbox 360, a wii, a 72″ flat screen TV, 2 smaller TV’s, a virtual reality headset, charging stations, a deep-base soundbar, literally nearly 1000 games and movies, 2 giant speakers in his bedroom, an AMP, a treadmill, live video surveillance systems, a 6 person hot tub, a mac desktop, 3 Ipads, 2 trucks, a car, a van, a boat, a jetski(we lived in southern ohio, btw), 2 trailers, and about 75 bottles of alcohol, unopened and sealed. Man’s got money, clearly. All verified purchases. This is just at his house, not including his completely full storage unit as big as a 3 car garage.The house was one small angle-roofed bedroom that fit a queen bed with 1 foot on either side, a living room that was filled with a couch and a table with 2 feet in between, a kitchen, and a toilet. No, not a bathroom - no shower, no sink. A toilet. The floor in the kitchen had rotted through, the roof leaked until the carpet was sopping and flooded, and plants grew that you could see from the outside and the inside. Raccoons, opossums, birds, and mice all got in. Every month he’d sit down and choose which bill he was going to skip. He would skip breakfast and lunch, and then invite himself over to friend’s for dinner, because he wouldn't afford food, frequently. He’d rotate vehicles based on which ones were broken down, and which had the least expensive repair. He still hasn’t done his 2016 taxes.I don't know what he’s got going on. Please don't ask me to explain, because I really cant.
