1 Answer The President of the SwissConfederation has praised China’s Belt and Road Initiative because the OBOR/B&RI/other-Chinese-funded-projects are an altruistic, long term low cost massive upgrading to the interconnectivity of the roads, rail, and sea communications of the world and also a major upgrade to energy production and transmission by oil and gas pipelines and electrical transmission wires. That system is not, as it is often wrongly represented in the Western media, an advantage only to China but benefits all the 112 nations in it. These upgraded roads and sea routes obviously benefit everyone connected, and not just China.2 Discussion The sheer size of the OBOR/B&RI/Other Chinese Projects has been estimated as running at about $6.4 tr. made up of the projects in 112 nations at cost of about $5.4tr. plus a number of AIB projects totalling $1tr.
