What is expected from a stay at home mom?

From my experience as a SAHM, in the beginning the expectations are external in that that SAHM, who has likely left a lucrative career to cut toenails and wipe runny noses in stained clothes because there’s no money to keep replacing what gets ruined, needs to prove to “them” that raising children is a worthwhile endeavor and its own career. In that stage I shopped frugally with coupons, cooked as close as I could manage to gourmet meals (don’t count that it night not be served until 10pm). I made superhuman efforts to keep things clean and tidy and laundry all caught up. The sink knew no dish. I mowed the lawn while baby napped, monitor hung around my neck. That phase lasts one year or until the second child comes. Then you realize that moms who work outside the home are either really jealous of you or far more likely, very subtly look down on you for not “working.” Because gradually you come to realize that what you do is not seen as work by most people. Sometimes not even spouses, so I was very lucky in that my spouse did not feel that way. After the SAHM gives up the fantasy of having her work valued by the outside world, then the expectations start to fit the individual. People who homeschool or have large families generally have to keep order and tend to be tidy. I only had two. As long as the sink was empty by time to cook supper, I was good. As long as toys were in their storage area by bedtime, I was good.I don’t know whether it’s expected because I don’t know what kids who are dropped off at daycare all day do except catch each other’s colds (not a very nice comment but placed here because it’s downright kind compared to some comments SAHMs receive from some “working” mothers).I do know that in a typical week when my kids were 4 and 2 the following happened:3 hours of preschool 3 days a week for eldestBallet lessons for both (separate classes because different ages, so 2 trips and one who hated it and wouldn’t wear the leotard and a teacher who wouldn’t bend on leotards but was also mad if we were late)Spanish lessons weekly for oldestSwimming lessons for both (one of whom hated them and clung to the railing like a circus acrobat and screamed as though death was eminent if they pried her away)Showers in the locker room because one had severe eczemaSwimming at the pool with Mommy to try to make swim lessons betterWeekly trip to the library (keeping library books separate from PreK bookmobile books — remember which are due when)A trip to the zooA trip to the Children’s MuseumPossibly a kid’s movie at the theatre.Lunch out 2x/week. Once for them, once for me. They got their lunch because mine was with a friend and often lasted hours.Errands of all sortsAny appointment for me — I literally had a babysitter available less than 5% of the time, so if I had a physical, I brought 2 kids. He said that he guessed in a way he paid me, but I definitely earned my keep. No. I didn’t. I was really done. He said that he couldn’t do his high pressure job if I wasn’t taking care if things at home and he honestly couldn’t afford me. What? He said without you, I’d have to find a way to take care of this and here’s who I’d have to hire:Full-time, live-in nannyPrivate tutorChauffeurHairstylistAccountantFinancial plannerActivity directorMedical assistantCreative directorInterior decoratorNaturalistRecreational therapistBaby sign language teacherMusic teacherTherapistCoach/Professional cheerleaderCookLaundressEducation and programming researcherTurns out it would cost around $350,000 to hire me. Just so happens I’m willing to work for hugs, kisses, and love. All mothers are working mothers. Some do their work in two places. The animosity needs to stop. Those are the expectations in a list that is ever evolving as my children age. I am most fortunate to be free from notions of career because I’m too busy doing my job. The only regret I I have is that it took way too long understand that.

CocoDoc is intuitive and this is a very key characteristic of a good software product. It is also very simple to use by everyone. We simply upload our document, mark out the parts of the document where we require our partners and customers to append their signature ,and send it to them. Immediately the intended recipient opens or signs the document ,we get an instantaneous notification.Very simple and effective process. Also ,it makes a lot of sense financial wise and its probably the cheapest e-signing tool out there in terms of monthly billing. While still offering a similar quality level as close substitutes like Docusign and Hellosign.
