SHE WENT TO SCHOOL FOR 3 YEARS AFTER COLLEGE. I was in training for NINE years after college. Hmm.

A doctor ( or a lawyer) can refuse to take you on as a patient/client for any reason they please. They don’t have to tell you why..If you are an established patient and they no longer want to treat you, they need only make sure you have a list of other doctors from whom you can seek care and to make your records available when requested.A single malpractice action generally won’t be an issue. Multiple cases or a generally litigious approach to conflict resolution will close doors.I

When my daughter was 8 years old, I brought her for her well child appointment. One of the things that I had discussed with the doctor at the beginning of the appointment was that she was a somewhat anxious and very sensitive child. The doctor proceeded to tell us that because she was in the 90th percentile for weight she needed to lose weight right away or she would become a depressed and suicidal teenager. She said all of this in front of my daughter, who was very distraught when we left the appointment.I promptly put out feelers for another pediatrician and we got her in for an established patient appointment very quickly. That pediatrician told me that at 8 years old, the 90th percentile isn't alarming because the kids carry their weight in so many different ways. She said as long as we kept her active, which she was, and made sure that she had plenty of protein and vegetables and water (all of which were prevalent in her diet), she would be fine. Guess what…she's 13 now and muscular, fit and still extremely active and not at all depressed.Prior to that appointment, she tried to convince me that my older daughter needed surgery because one leg was about 2mm shorter than the other. My very athletic daughter was needlessly stressed because she thought she would have to have surgery on her legs. She was 13, for God's sake, she grew 4 more inches after that! At least it was a good lesson for me to learn and be able to pass down to my kids that you never have to stay with a crappy care provider.
