PDF Editor FAQ

What do you dislike about New Jersey?

THE HIGHWAYS. THE. HIGHWAYS.I’m currently in the Newark area because I’m working with a teaching company that had a hiring imbalance. They said, “We really like your work and the parents love you! Want to go work in Newark?”And I was like, “That’s a weird reward for you liking me.”But, nah. I used to live in NYC. I’d go eat the Cuban sandwiches in Elizabeth. Whatever. I don’t care. Fine. But the highways are SO CONFUSING AND TERRIBLE. For the first week or so, I was staying in the area around Newark Airport.Ha ha ha. HA HA HA. Have you ever tried driving around Newark Airport? It’s an absolute snarl of highways that all converge and lanes appear and disappear and your GPS is going to get absolutely confused since you’re driving around 5 different highways and it can’t figure out if you’re doing the right thing or not.Plus, what I find kind of weird is that people tend to actually adhere to speed limits here. Like, I’ll get on the NJ Turnpike or the Garden State Parkway or whatever and the speed limit says “55.”I’m from Detroit. So I see a speed limit of “55” and I’m like “hahaha funny joke, guys hahaha, that means we all go 90,” since, like, I drive on Southfield Highway in Detroit, and if you’re from Detroit you know the “speed limit” is 55 but the actual speed limit is “lol Imma drive 110.”…but they go 55 here. I’m squinting from behind my steering wheel and not sure how to handle this. But, anyway, to be honest, even though I’ve been having kind of a rough time in Jersey overall (I missed flights to Newark twice due to weather, my automated lock died on my hotel room and the guy had to break into my room with screwdrivers, I accidentally locked my keys in my car, and since I have a rental here and it’s a keyless entry and I’m not used to that I accidentally left the car on one night and then had to get it jumped…) I have to say I’ve been pretty impressed by how nice people are.Like, when I’m driving, and making a left-hand turn into a busy lane from a side street (so I have no rights to anything, here), I’ve noticed that people very constantly flash their brights at me to let me in. Like, they don’t have to do that. And it’s happened quite frequently. So while I don’t like the highways here, I’m very impressed by how nice New Jersey drivers are. And I have a rental car with an “EZTOLL” thing on it (not EZpass) and I’m not using it since it charges you the full amount of toll if you’re on the highway. (Like, even if you’re a 2 axel car and the toll should be $1.50, it will charge you the same amount as if you were a semi because of some godforsaken stupid reason.) I always drive into the “cash receipts” lane and tell the toll-keeper to cancel the EZpass charge (since it’s not EZpass, and I do have the EZTOLL thing closed since I refuse to pay its stupid rates even if it’s my company doing it but it STILL scans since Avis is a whore) and they’re always so nice to me and tell me it’s bullshit. So I don’t like the highways.I like the people, though.

Have you ever kept something from your significant other because it was better to do so?

There was an older woman ( she was 55 and I was 22) I worked with who liked to have a beer with me after work most days. We'd usually have 1 or 2 beers and watch tv or I'd fix some things, around her house and then I'd go home.I didn't tell my girlfriend because I didn't think it was a big deal at all. The older woman didn't look that old,she looked great honestly, she looked 30 but she was 55.however it was just friends, I get along with people older than me, I always have,.I never thought of that woman in a romantic way. After a couple months of this, my girlfriend followed me and waited right outside the front door. (She never accused me or asked where I went after work)When I opened the door to leave she popped out and yelled “HA! I've caught you, screwing some milf you work with. I should have known.”I said “no, you caught me hanging out with a friend that happens to be a 55 year old widow who has a beer with me most days after work, sometimes I fix things around her house for a little extra cash, the reason you didn't know before is because, it's no big deal and if you ever wanted to know what I do after work, you could just ask.”She stared at me and said “oh.”We introduced eachother and all. Everything was fine for awhile.A few months later, I discovered that the girlfriend had been seeing her highschool sweetheart that cheated on her and left her back in highschool. I told her “well, you were worried about me, when i should have been worrying about you, but real couples don't have to worry about cheating.”My current girlfriend and i are good friends with this lady now and go there every once in awhile to hang out with her, do yard work or whatever.

According to the framers of the United States Constitution, why was it essential that the national government derive its legitimacy from ‘the people,’ rather than from the state legislatures?

Who decides on who gets elected to the State legislatures? The people. The people are the ultimate source of all power. In the United States we the people tender, but never surrender our voting power to our various representatives. That is how we conduct our Democracy in a Constitutional Republic.Since we elect our representatives on a State by State basis we also elect or representatives to the Electoral College to elect our President. This assures that the same people elect all of our representatives.People from NH, being from a small State only have 4 electors. Which means that we only have 4/538 or almost 3/4 of 1% of the Electors speaking for us in the Presidential selection. On the other end of the scale California ha 55/538 electors, or 10.2% of the electors. But at least we are sure that our electors will represent a majority of NH residents. This is why it is important to understand that the framers set up our election process to assure that the people of the various states will always retain the power to be heard in the decision making process of our federal government. Of course we would prefer that the Electoral College and the House of Representatives would give us equal representation similar to the Senate, but listening to California cry about the unfairness of the process just wouldn’t be worth it…
