With that in mind, here are various things to consider.Warranty ConsiderationsYou should consider all aspects of what you are expecting from the warranty. If you're looking for an accidental damage warranty, you'll need to consider which plans offer this and what is covered. Depending on how long you intend to be in the US studying, this is another aspect to consider. For example, you may want a warranty to cover both US and India. If your studies will keep you in the US longer than the extended warranty covers, then you might not need India coverage. Also, you'll want your warranty to be convenient to where you intend to live while in the US. If you're moving to an area without Apple stores available, you'll be at the mercy of mailing your computer into a service center if you choose Apple's extended warranty. This can leave you without a computer while it's being repaired.Buying within the USIf you buy your computer from a large retail store in the US, many retailers offer their own in-store repair or replacement warranty options. This means you can visit the store and have your computer fixed while you wait. So, you won't be without your computer for more than a day. However, purchasing from a store in the US may not give you a warranty in India unless that store is also in India and will honor that warranty. But, it gives you easy access while you're here in the US. Though, with Apple products you can take advantage of in-store warranties and Apple's extended warranty plans. You can only use one at a time. However, if an in-store plan opens up your computer for repair, this may void Apple's extended warranty which means you'll only be able to use the store's warranty plan from then on. However, most Apple computers today have very few serviceable parts. In most cases, you'll end up with a replacement computer. Apple's warranties are by serial number. If you receive a new replacement from the store, any purchased Apple warranties won't apply to the new serial number unless you call Apple and transfer your warranty plan.Accident ProtectionTo get accident coverage from Apple, you will need to buy the Applecare Protection Plan.
