I can’t see how you would do that. If you only used carbon to make a model it could not have the same structure or shape. It would not work as a copy in any way that I can see. It could not have the same information in it. If you look at a model of a small section of DNA you can see how much of it is not carbon. The angles and ways that it links together as a 3-D structure have to do with the elements in it. It would not do this with only carbon. Life is called “carbon based” but it is not mostly carbon. My answer comes from a different angle, as a first responder who has made hundreds of trips in to NH and SNF (nursing homes and skilled nursing facilities) and that is to visit often. Those patients that get regular family visits tend to get a bit better care. The staff knows someone is watching, whether you are or not. And make random visits that don’t follow a pattern. I am not saying that “forgotten” residents get abused but those that have frequent family in to visit and ask questions seem to get better care and, truly, seem to thrive better.
