In both written and interviews they don't ask to solve numericals, they usually ask to explain theories. From SOM they can ask you to draw SFD, BMD, Deflection diagram etc.For those 3 topics, you need to go deep.Ensure that any questions asked from those chapter will be answered.Practice mcq questions regularly, there is no short cut. If you are preparing for GATE Or ESE, it will be easier. There are plenty of questions available in both online and test papers (MadeEasy, Gateforum etc).
