PDF Editor FAQ

How can I graduate high school early being homeschooled if you need 180 days of operated education?

Yes, take the GED test. There are books that prepare you for the GED test. There are websites online that prepare you for the GED test. You can take the GED test as many times as you like.See:GED Test Results | How to Find and Interpret Your Score?

How does getting college credit on the GED exam work?

What you are likely referring to is the differentiated scoring on the GED. A score of 145 is passing, but GED Testing Service labels 165–174 as GED College Ready and 175+ as GED College Ready + Credit.Unfortunately, this scoring notation is GED Testing Services marketing bulls**t. It is a way for GED Testing Service to market themselves as more than they are. Note on the website that it states that you MAY be able to apply for credit. They have floated this out to many states and many colleges and (to my limited knowledge) no-one has taken them up on it (maybe someone has, but I have attended national conferences and have never heard of any state or college caring what they say).In the state of Minnesota, any score above 145 is passing and that is all you will get from it. If you choose to go on to college (and please do), you will still need to take a placement exam and will be placed in classes based on that college’s interpretation of the placement exam, not on any of your GED scores. So go prepare for the GED, take it and pass it (hopefully with high scores), but don’t worry about this. GED Testing Service is selling snake oil, and it really does mean nothing.

Is there a pass or fail on the ASVAB?

In the broadest interpretation, there is no pass or fail. Your score is a PERCENTILE which means that your score falls somewhere on a distribution curve of 1 to 99. A score of 10, for example, means that your result was equal to, or better than, 10 out of every 100 people that take the test. You cannot have a zero, nor can you have a 100, because you cannot score equal to, or better than none or all of the people. In practical application, each branch establishes a minimum percentile score based upon your demographic. For example, when I was a recruiter, if you were a High School Senior or a High School Diploma Graduate, the minimum acceptable score was a 31. If you happened to have a GED, then you had to score a 50, and if you had neither diploma nor GED, you weren’t eligible. These standards change based upon the needs of the service. Additionally, each service will compile your sub-test scores to determine aptitude area scores. My older brother and I had nearly identical AFQT scores (his was 99, mine was 97) but the way that the USMC calculated the General Technical score gave him a GT score of 146, while using the Army calculation method, mine was a 126.So to answer your question, no, you cannot fail the ASVAB. However, you can most certainly fail to meet the minimum qualifications for enlistment.
