For the most part, places had their own specific dating conventions. Dates would be measured by the reign of a particular ruler or in a cycle of year names. For example, to a peasant, it might be the year of the bull or the seventh year of King Foo. This might make it difficult to refer to years in the distant past, but the typical peasant had no particular need to closely date events taking place before their lifetime, so it wasn’t really a concern.Astronomers and historians, who had special interest in longer cycles of time, had to create longer calendars. New World societies as well as some Old World ones created elaborate calendars using overlapping cycles of different lengths, resulting in long compound dates: year A in the Bth short cycle in the Cth medium cycle in the Dth long cycle. Elsewhere, dates might be measured from foundational events. The Jewish and, eventually, Byzantine calendars measured from the creation of the world, while the Roman calendar measured from the founding of the city and Greeks often measured by Olympiads. But, again, these were special purpose calendars which wouldn’t be of much use to the general population.As for that peasant in 613 AD, he probably wouldn’t know that was the year. The very idea of dating things from the birth of Christ wasn’t even invented until 525 AD, and its used didn’t become widespread in literate circles for another few centuries. Other dating conventions continued to predominate. Probably by the Crusades, a peasant would have at least had access to the AD date (if he didn’t know, he could ask the nearest priest), but since they didn’t leave us much documentation, we really don’t know how deeply that information penetrated.

There is no difference as long as you pay.Even if the actual process spills over by 2 or 3 days and thus the payment gets credited after 2 days, not a problem…Best thing to do is to pay a few days before the due date each month…that way, the payment becomes a monthly task and can be scheduled in a calendar.
